A relatively high operating frequency is required for efficient wireless power transfer (WPT). However, the alternating current (AC) resistance of coils increases sharply with operating frequency, which possibly degrades overall efficiency. Hence, the evaluation of coil AC resistance is critical in selecting operating frequency to achieve good efficiency. For a Litz wire coil, AC resistance is attributed to the magnetic field, which leads to the skin effect, the proximity effect, and the corresponding conductive resistance and inductive resistance in the coil. A numerical calculation method based on the Biot-Savart law is proposed to calculate magnetic field strength over strands in Litz wire planar spiral coils to evaluate their AC resistance. An optimized frequency can be found to achieve the maximum efficiency of a WPT system based on the predicted resistance. Sample coils are manufactured to verify the resistance analysis method. A prototype WPT system is set up to conduct the experiments. The experiments show that the proposed method can accurately predict the AC resistance of Litz wire planar spiral coils and the optimized operating frequency for maximum efficiency.

In this study, we propose that the structures of 2-layer spiral planar inductors have a lower spiral coil and via increasing inductance in limited possession are and confirm the frequency characteristics. The structures of inductors have Si thickness of $300{\mu}m$, $SiO_2$ thickness of $7{\mu}m$. The width of Cu coils and the space between segments have $20{\mu}m$, respectively. The number of turns of coils have 3. The performance of spiral planar inductors was simulated to frequency characteristics for inductance, quality-factor, SRF(Self- Resonance Frequency) using HFSS. The 2-layer spiral planar inductors have inductance of 3.2nH over the frequency range of 0.8 to 1.8 GHz, quality-factor of maximum 8.2 at 2.5 GHz, SRF of 5.8 GHz. Otherwise, 1-layer spiral planar inductors have inductance of 1.5nH over the frequency range of 0.8 to 1.8 GHz, quality-factor of maximum 18 at 8 GHz, SRF of 19.2 GHz.
This paper proposes a single-input multiple-output (SIMO) self-resonant wireless power transmission system for transmitting power to multiple receivers and the characteristics are simulated and measured. A 600 mm diameter transmission single loop, a 600 mm diameter helical transmission resonant coil, an external diameter 900 mm planar spiral reception resonant coil, and an $80{\times}60mm^2$ flat plate square coil as a receiver are used to form a wireless power transmission system 600 mm away with the table structure. For optimal characteristics, the wireless power transmission coils are designed by EM simulation and equivalent circuit analysis, and the characteristics are simulated and measured. The variation of the efficiency with distance from the center of the spiral resonant coil is analyzed and the measured efficiency is 57% for one receiver and for the two receivers, the efficiency is 37% for each receiver.
Planar type thin film inductors have a potential for the application of miniaturized DC-DC converters. For those high current applications, the magnetic film with high current capability is required. The current capability of magnetic films is mainly determined from high saturation magnetization (4$\piM_s$) as well as large anisotropy field $(H_k)$. We fabricated a double rectangular spiral thin film inductor which consist of magnetic layer, coil and insulator. Highest inductance values as well as best frequency characteristics can be obtained from 5 MHz and quality factor exhibit about 7.

In this paper, we introduce a dual coil antenna which is useful for reducing the effects of radio frequency noise in an RFID system. A dual coil antenna is composed of two identical coils that are connected in series. The noise voltages in the two coils almost disappear when they are added because the magnitudes are equal and the polarities are opposite. The noise in an RFID reader with a dual coil antenna was 15 dB lower than that with a single coil antenna.
The planar type inductors have a good potential for the application of miniaturized low power DC-DC converters. For those high quality application, the reduction of coil loss and also magnetic films which have good high frequency properties are required. Fabricated inductor was consisted of FeTaN/Ti magnetic film and electroplated Cu coil thickness of 100$\mu\textrm{m}$ and $SiO_2$ as a insulating layer. The inductor was designed double rectangular spiral shape for magnetic field highly confining within the device. The measured value of inductance and resistance were 980 nH and 1.7 $\Omega$ at 1 MHz as operating frequency of device. The Q factor is 3.55 at 1 MHz.
In this paper, we optimize the wireless power transmission (WPT) coil, and then compare the EM simulation and measurement using magnetic coupling at 6.78 MHz. As transmission efficiency is affected by various factors such as the shape of the system, the size of the coils, the coil structure is proposed to consist of a helical resonant for transmission and a spiral resonant for reception. The size of the coil and the distance between the coils are determined to minimize the volume problem, and the shape of the coil are confirmed by EM simulation. A WPT system is designed with 860mm diameter top plate and cylindrical structure of column spaced 600mm apart, and the characteristics are simulated and measured. The simulation shows that ${\mid}S_{21}{\mid}$ is -0.53 dB with the efficiency of 88%, and the measurement result is that ${\mid}S_{21}{\mid}$ is -0.71 dB with the efficiency of 85%.

A double rectangular spiral type inductor has been fabricated by using FeTaN films. The inductor is composed of internal coils sandwiched by magnetic layers. Characteristics of inductor performance are investigated with an emphasis on planarization of magnetic films. In the absence of the planarization process, the grating topology of the upper magnetic films over the coil arrays degrades the soft magnetic properties and the inductor performance. It also induces a longitudinal magnetic anisotropy with the easy axis aligned to the magnetic flux direction. This alignment prevents the upper magnetic films from contributing to the total induction. Glass bonding is a viable method for achieving a completely planar inductor structure. The planar inductor with glass bonding shows excellent performance: inductance of 1.1 $\mu H$, Q factor of 7 (at 5 MHz), and the current capability up to 100 mA.
This paper presents the fabrication of an electromagnetic micro actuator consisting of a Parylene diaphragm with a spiral copper coil and a permanent magnet. The copper coil is fabricated by electroplating and patterning. The frequency response of the actuator are obtained using a laser vibrometer. When the input voltage is 3 V, the DC deflection is 5 ${\mu}m$, and the resonance frequency is about 35 Hz. Also, the mechanical sensitivity of the actuator diaphragm is 69 ${\mu}m/V$.
