The purpose of the study was to specify the gender differences and the developmental changes of adolescents' self-esteem. The data was collected from 497 middle school students who were living at Pusan Korea through the questionnaire method by short-term longitudinal research design of 9 months interval. During the first datacollection session, May 1997, the participants completed the multidimensional self-esteem inventory that includes self-esteem dimensions such as home self, peer-related self, teacher-related self, academic-general self, physical-appearance self, physical-competence self and personality self. And during the second datacollection session, the participants completed the same questionnaires of the first session. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, the boy's self-esteem such dimensions of home self, teacher-related self, physical-appearance self, physical-competence self and personality self were significantly higher than those of girls. Second, the home self, peer-related self, teacher-related self, and academic-general self were decreased over time.
This research focused on the examination of a "Goodness of Fit" model with reference to the interaction effects of temperament and context. Two hundred forty 5th graders from urban and rural areas were administered the EAS (Emotionality, Activity, Sociability) and the Perceived Competence scales. The degree of satisfaction of mothers with their children's temperament was assessed for the context measure. Results of hierarchical multiple regression analyses showed that the interaction of children's emotion and mothers' satisfaction with children's emotion explained perceived social competence and general self-worth. This result supported the goodness of fit model. However, interaction effects were not found in children's perception of cognitive and physical competence. Also, children's activity and sociability showed strong main effects on perceived competence. It implies that activity and sociability should be applied to the personological model. The implication of the findings for following studies of goodness of fit model were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between self-perceptions and school children's depression according to their gender. The participants comprised 578 school age children in Daegu or Gyeongbok Province. The participants completed measures of self-perception(SPPC) and depression(CDI). The SPPC consisted of 6 domains, self-perception(scholastic competence, social acceptance, athletic competence, physical appearance, behavioral conduct and global self-worth). The collected data were analyzed by means of MANOVA, Repeated measures MANOVA, and Multiple Regression Analysis(using SPSS PC(19.0 version). The results were as follows. (1) Among the domain specific areas of self-perception, global self worth scored the highest amongst the other subscales(scholastic competence, social acceptance, athletic competence, behavioral conduct and global self-worth) in both boys and girls. (2) Level of depression in school children differed according to sex and domain specific self-perception which was social acceptance, physical appearance, behavioral conduct and global self worth. (3) Self-perception on depression was a more salient predictor in girls than boys. Among the domain specific area of self-perception, global self worth was the best predictor in both boys and girls.

This study examined how the motivational language of instructors in senior fashion model classes affects learners' achievement goal orientation and interpersonal competence, as well as their intention to continue participating. The participants in this study were active seniors aged 50 and above, and the analysis was conducted using PLS-SEM and bootstrapping for mediation effects. It was found that autonomous motivation had a significant impact on task achievement goals and interpersonal competence, but not on ego achievement goals. On the other hand, controlled motivation only had a significant impact on ego achievement goals. Additionally, interpersonal competence had a significant impact on the intention to continue participating, and task achievement goals were found to mediate the relationship between autonomous motivation and interpersonal competence. This study aimed to promote understanding of the importance of instructors' motivational language in senior fashion model education and learners' psychology and to provide information that can help develop a fashion-related leisure activity curriculum. It also suggests efficient instructional directions for instructors in senior education, and it is expected to be utilized in the development of fashion-related leisure activity program curricula in the future.
