Microbial communities were analyzed in an anaerobic/aerobic sequencing batch reactor (SBR) fed with glucose as a sole carbon source. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that tetrad or cuboidal packet bacteria dominated the microbial sludge. Quinone, slot hybridization, and 165 rRNA gene sequencing analyses showed that the Proteobacteria beta subclass and the Actinobacteria group were the main microbial species in the SBR sludge. However, according to transmission electron microscopy (TEM), the packet bacteria did not contain polyphosphate granules or glycogen inclusions, but only separate coccus-shaped bacteria contained these, suggesting that coccus-shaped bacteria accumulated polyphosphate directly and the packet bacteria played other role in the enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR). Based on previous reports, the Actinobacteria group and the Proteobacteria beta subclass were very likely responsible for acid formation and polyphosphate accumulation, respectively, and their cooperation achieved the EBPR in the SBR operation which was supplied with glucose.
In order to clarify the effect of the associative nitrogen fixing bacteria on the growth of corn(Zea mays L. Suwon19), we inoculated corn seedlings with Azospirillum amazonense Y1, a micro-aerobic and acid-tolerant nitrogen fixer, and analyzed the growth and dry matter production and changes of nitrogen and phosphorus quantity of the plant during the growing period. The inoculation of associative N-fixing bacgteria increased the growth of height, leaf area, dry weight and total nitrogen quantity of the plant by 15.4%, 65.4%, 33.7% and 38.0%, respectively, on the day of 56th after sowing. Especially the inoculation of A. amazonense Y1 showed two to three-fold accumulation of phosphorus in each organ of plant. The associative bacteria accelerated the growth of the under ground parts more than those of the upper ground parts of corn plant, and caused decrease in T/R ratios.
This paper presents a newly enhanced damage model in Monte Carlo (MC) simulation for the accurate prediction of 3-Dimensional (3D) as-implanted impurity and point defect profiles induced by ion implantation in (100) crystal silicon. An empirical electronic energy loss model for B, BF2, As, P and Si self implant over the wide energy range has been proposed for the ULSI device technology and development. Our model shows very good agreement with the SIMS data over the wide energy range. In the damage accumulation, we considered the self-annealing effects by introducing our proposed non-linear recomvination probability function of each point defect for the computational efficiency. For the damage profiles, we compared the published RBS/channeling data with our results of phosphorus implants. Our damage model shows very reasonable agreement with the experiments for phosphorus implants.

This study was performed to examine the rice growth and nutrient change in paddy soil with reclaimed sewage irrigation. Total nitrogen and total phosphorus in the experimental system were analyzed before and after rice culture. The experiment lasted three consecutive years, and this paper presents results of the last year. Additional supply of nutrients to the rice culture by reclaimed sewage irrigation was significant and it increased the yield. Nutrient uptake by rice plant increased with more nutrient supplied, however. there was limit in plant uptake. Nutrient accumulation occurred in the soil and it was more apparent for the phosphorus where most of the remaining quantity was accumulated while substantial amount of nitrogen was lost during the growing season. This study suggested that additional nutrient supply by reclaimed sewage irrigation might be a supplemental benefit to the rice culture, and it can help the fertilization management. However, long term effects of continual reclaimed sewage irrigation should be assessed carefully including nutrient mass balance in the paddy rice culture system.
This study was carried out to develop the soil amendment practice by phosphate solubilizing bacteria application in greenhouse chrysanthemum cultivation area with high salt accumulation. The experimental site (ShinWoo Flower, GwangJu) has been cultivated chrysanthemum for 15 years and showed significant salt accumulation. The phosphate solubilizing bacteria, Pseudomonas putida (KSJ11), Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (KSJ3) and Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (WP20) formulated on vermiculite for easy use, were applicated. Each 250L of phosphate solubilizing bacteria was applied for $82m^2$ before planting. Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (KSJ3; WP20) increased the amount of soluble phosphorus in an effective level. Particularly, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (WP20) increased not only the level of soluble phosphorus but also potassium, calcium and magnesium resulting in the increase of EC in the soil. The level of nematode was also decreased with the non-treated increased. As a result, we suggest that selected phosphate solubilizing bacteria (WP20) could be a useful practice for soil amendment in chrysanthemum plantation soil and provided an opportunity to reduce the use of the fertilizer during the cultivation period.
The three-dimensional eco-hydrodynamic model was applied to estimate the physical process in terms of nutrients and net uptake(or regeneration) rate of nutrients in Kamak Bay for scenario analysis to find proper management plan. The estimation results of the physical process in terms of nutrients shelved that transportation of nutrients is dominant in surface level while accumulation of nutrients is dominant in bottom level. In the case of dissolved inorganic nitrogen, the results showed that the net uptake rate was 0∼60 mg/㎡/day in surface level(0∼3m), and the net regeneration rate was 0.0∼10.0 mg/㎡/day in middle level(3∼6m) and above 10mg/㎡/day in bottom level(6m∼below). In the case of dissolved inorganic phosphorus, the net uptake rate was 0.0∼3.0 mg/㎡/day in surface level, and the net regeneration rate was 0.5∼1.5 mg/㎡/day in middle level and 1.0∼3.0 mg/㎡/day in bottom level. These results indicates that net uptake and transport of nutrients are occurred predominantly at the surface level and the net generation and accumulation are dominant at bottom level. Therefore, it is important to consider the re-supplement of nutrients due to regeneration of bottom water.

Continuous excessive application of phosphorus (P) fertilizer and manure in plastic film house soils can lead to an accumulation of P in soils. The understanding of P sorption by soils is important for fertilizer management. In this study, 9 samples were collected for acidic and calcareous soils as non-cultivated soil and plastic film house soils as cultivated soil Phosphorus sorption data of acidic soils fit the Langmuir equations, Freundlich equations in calcareous and plastic film house soils. In calcareous and plastic film house soils, the slope of isotherm adsorption changed abruptly, which could be caused P precipitation with $CaCO_3$. The calculated Langmuir adsorption maximum ($S_{max}$) varied from 217 to 1,250, 139 to 1,429, and $714mg\;kg^{-1}$ for acidic soils, calcareous soils, and plastic film house soils with low available phosphate concentration, respectively. From this result, maximum P adsorption by the Langmuir equation could be regarded as threshold of P concentration to induce the phosphate precipitation in soil. Phosphate-sorption values estimated from one-point isotherm for acidic and calcareous soils as non-cultivated soils were comparable with the $S_{max}$ values calculated from the Langmuir isotherm.
There are remarkable differences in growth and morphological characters of roots between mountain and field cultivated Panax ginseng. Growth of root in mountain cultivated ginseng was much slower than that of field cultivated ginseng. However, the factor affecting the retarded growth in mountain ginseng was not known. Soil analysis revealed that phosphorus (P) content of mountain soil was exceptionally low at least ten-fold lower compared to that of field soil. Thus, we suggest that low availability of P in mountain soil may be one of the limiting factors for growth of ginseng in mountain soil environment. We had monitored the growth of ginseng plants after one and three years of phosphate fertilizer application. Three kinds of phosphate fertilizers: fused magnesium phosphate, fused superphosphate, and single superphosphate were applied to mountain soil. Application of phosphate fertilizers increased the fresh-, dry weight, and diameter of ginseng roots and resulted in increased P accumulation in roots. These results demonstrate that slow growth of ginseng in mountain soil environment might be attributed to the low P content in mountain soil. Thus, analysis of P amount in mountain soil will be a good indicator for the selection of suitable site the ginseng cultivation in forest.

The interfacial layer between the oxide film and the metal film according to RTP annealing temperature of metal film has been studied. Two types of oxides, BPSG and PETEOS, were used as a bottom layer under multi-layered metal films. We observed the interface between oxide and metal films using SEM (scanning electron microscopy), TEM (transmission electron microscopy), AES (auger electron spectroscopy). Bonding failure was occurred by interfacial reaction between the BPSG oxide and the multi-layered metal films above $650^{\circ}C$ RTP anneal. The phosphorus accumulation layer was observed at interface between BPSG oxide and metal films by AES and TEM measurements. On the other hand, bonding was always good in the sample using PETEOS oxide as a bottom layer. We have known that adhesion between BPSG and multi-layered metal films was improved when the sample was annealed below $650^{\circ}C$.
