  • This Research aims to analyze the effects of SCM management capabilities and IT capabilities on firm performance. The strategic performance was shown to be positively and significantly affected by flexibility and responsiveness which were proxies for SCM management capabilities. However, neither main effect of IT capability nor interaction effects of IT capability and SCM management capability on firm performance was found.

Mediating Effect of Operational Capabilities on the Dynamic Capabilities and Performance of Korean SMEs (동적역량과 기업성과에 대한 운영역량의 매개효과 분석)

  • This study examines the relationship between dynamic capabilities and operational capabilities as well as investigates the effect of these capabilities and performance. We also test these relationships on two industry groups categorized into high-tech industries and low-tech industries. We collected 221 firms' data from a questionnaire survey of small and medium-sized enterprises in Korea. Empirical results show that dynamic capabilities and operational capabilities influence performance positively. In high-tech industries dynamic capabilities directly affect performance while marketing capabilities appear to mediate the relationship between dynamic capabilities and performance. Dynamic capabilities show no significant effect on performance for low-tech industries; however, operational capabilities do mediate the relationship between dynamic capabilities and performance.

  • Manufacturing strategy deals with the issue that how manufacturing can achieve the organization's overall goals within the framework of corporate strategy. In this paper, manufacturing strategy and programs for high performance are examined in order to answer the following questions: What kinds of manufacturing strategies are adopted\ulcorner How many programs for high performance are introduced\ulcorner To what extent do the programs contribute to performance improvement\ulcorner What are the difference between the high performance and low performance groups\ulcorner From the survey data of 97 Korean manufacturing companies, answers to the questions are obtained and the implications are discussed.

  • Purpose: This study highlights the importance of emphasizing entrepreneurship and sustainability among managers to address the challenges of Industry 6.0, especially in situations of increasing environmental uncertainty. The research model reveals the important structural relationship between entrepreneurship, sustainability, and innovation performance, and through empirical analysis, we sought to confirm that entrepreneurship in the 6th industry is related to technological innovation. Methods: A survey was conducted targeting 6th industry entrepreneurs, and the relationship was analyzed using SPSS and AMOS. Results: Despite a non-significant direct relationship between entrepreneurship and innovation performance, a notable effect of sustainability on innovation performance was identified. This highlights the fact that entrepreneurship contributes to firm performance through innovation activities, especially in the form of technological innovation. Conclusion: This study highlights the essential characteristics of entrepreneurship and sustainability, highlights their interconnectedness and suggests that their inclusion in the same management activities improves performance.

An Evaluation of the Foodservice Quality and Management of Preschool Foodservice Establishments by IPA - Focusing on Parents of Preschoolers in Metropolitan Area of Korea, China and Japan - (IPA분석을 통한 미취학 아동 급식의 급식서비스 품질특성 및 급식운영 평가 - 한국·중국·일본의 미취학 아동을 자녀로 둔 부모를 대상으로 -)

  • This study was targeted on the Korean, Chinese, and Japanese parents of preschoolers to investigate the importance and satisfaction of foodservice quality and the importance and performance of foodservice management of the preschool foodservice establishments. The present study conducted a survey on 390 randomly chosen parents of preschoolers (130 Korean, 130 Chinese, and 130 Japanese). Respondents' importance-satisfaction of foodservice quality characteristics and their importance-performance of foodservice management were measured. In order to test for differences between the groups, paired t-test, one way ANOVA, and IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis) were performed. The results were as follows. The importance of foodservice quality was significantly higher than the satisfaction on all items, according to the parents of Korea, China, and Japan. The importance of foodservice quality was higher in Korean parents than in Chinese and Japanese parents. According to ISA results with foodservice quality characteristics, the characteristics with relatively low satisfaction but high importance (II quadrant) was 'Diversity of menu' in both Korean and Chinese parents, and 'Sanitation of tables and chairs' in both Korean and Japanese parents. The importance of foodservice management was significantly higher than performance on all items in Korean, Chinese and Japanese parents. The performance of foodservice management was higher in Chinese than in Japanese and Korean parents. According to IPA results with foodservice management, the management with relatively low performance but high importance (II quadrant) was 'Preparation' in Korean parents, and 'Facility and equipment' in Japanese parents. Therefore, the items with relatively low satisfaction (performance) and high importance should be well-managed.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the mediated effects of entrepreneurship and market orientation on organizational culture and management performance as the cause of the reversal phenomenon of startups defeating traditional giants. Through the research method of bootstrapping proposed by Hayes (2013), the total effect, direct effect and indirect effect analysis were conducted. As a result, there was no direct impact relationship between organizational culture and management performance, but it was confirmed that it had a positive impact on management performance by mediating both entrepreneurial behavior and market orientation in the relationship between organizational culture and management performance. This study is meaningful in that it is linked to existing theories such as entrepreneurship and market orientation and it extends the scope of competency targets required for business performance to an organizational culture. Companies need to create an innovation-oriented organizational culture for management performance and value creation, and they have to open up their culture with entrepreneurial behavior and market orientation by breaking away from the inertia of organization.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of success factors of foodservice business start-up on management performance and entrepreneurial satisfaction and to analyse the mediating effect of management performance on the relationship between success factors of foodservice business start-up and entrepreneurial satisfaction. Collected data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 22.0. The results of this study are as follows: First, success factors of foodservice business start-up consists of location, service, facilities, and food. Among success factors, location, service, facilities, and food had a significant influence on management performance and entrepreneurial satisfaction. Second, management performance had a significant influence on entrepreneurial satisfaction. Third, management performance had a mediating effect between success factors of foodservice business start-up and entrepreneurial satisfaction. The conclusion section suggested strategic implications to induce success factors, management performance and entrepreneurial satisfaction based on the findings.

  • This paper examined whether quality management(QM) positively impacts Kazakh companies' business performance (financial and non-financial performance). As a result of testing ten hypotheses based on the research model for 287 companies in Almaty, only eight hypotheses were supported. Top management leadership was identified as a critical factor that positively affected financial performance, and customer-centered thinking is strongly related to non-financial performance. Employee participation and quality information analysis factors also positively affected business performance, but their influence was lower than top management leadership and customer-centered thinking factors. Finally, the supplier management factor did not significantly affect business performance, and the two related hypotheses were not supported. These results are presumed to be due to the characteristics of the target companies, such as oil and raw material manufacturing and construction, rather than high-quality finished products.

  • In Small and Medium-sized Enterprises(SMEs) compared to major, competence of CEO relatively has a large impact on management performance, so the biggest factor to strengthen the competitiveness is the competence of CEO. Meanwhile, a consultant is defined as a subject of execution that directly and indirectly participates in management by inducing objective and rational decision-making on various management issues and problems facing companies. The management expertise, problem-solving skills, communication skills, insights, and leadership that a consultant must have in order to perform his or her duties are the same as the role and capabilities that the CEO must have in enhancing the company's performance and competitiveness. Therefore, through previous studies, this study divided consultant competences of CEO into job competence, communication competence, learning competence, and innovation competence and tried to understand whether those competences affect corporate's innovation performance and management performance. The survey was conducted on SMEs and the analysis techniques were reliability and validity analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation analysis. As a result, it was found that the CEO's job competence, communication competence, learning competence, and innovation competence had a significant effect on innovation performance of the company, and second, innovation performance had a significant effect on the management performance. Through, this study derived a common factor of consultant competences of SMEs CEO, and derived implications for the competence characteristics of the CEO necessary to improve the performance of SMEs.

The Impact of Eco-friendly Management on Product Quality, Financial Performance and Environmental Performance

  • Purpose - Considering the environmental issues in corporate management is now a necessity, not an option. In addition, consumers' interest in health and environment has increased rapidly. This study aims to investigate how the management style that pursues environmental protection affects the various outcomes at each management process such as planning, producing and supervising process. Research design, data, and methodology - We surveyed 319 manufacturing companies from April 1 to April 30, 2016. Green purchasing, environmental technology management and management support are selected as independent variables and firm performances as dependent variables. Three analyses including factor, regression and moderating were conducted. Results - Regression analysis was performed to set up hypotheses. Consequently, the total six hypotheses were adopted and then innovative management style showed moderating effect. Conclusions - Companies should consider environmental factors to improve the financial performance in the long term. Especially the cooperative style enhances financial performance by implementing eco-friendly design in cooperation with customers. Also, eco-friendly activities with suppliers could have direct environmental protection effects. Therefore, a manufacturer needs to cooperate with both suppliers and customers to maximize the protection effect. The production of eco-friendly products and implementing eco-friendly design with customers positively affect product quality.
