In this study, a mixed matrix membrane was prepared by putting the zeolitic imidazolate framework-7 (ZIF-7) synthesized in Pebax-1657 and Pebax-2533, which are representative poly(ether-b-amide), and the permeability properties of single gas such as N2 and CO2 were investigated. From the gas permeation results, in the case of N2, both the Pebax-1657/ZIF-7 and Pebax-2533/ZIF-7 mixed matrix membranes showed a similar phenomenon in which the permeability decreased with the incorporation of ZIF-7. For CO2 permeability, the tendency was slightly different depending on the type of polymer. In the Pebax-1657/ZIF-7 mixed membrane, the CO2 permeability decreased in the range of 0~3 wt% of ZIF-7, and increased at higher contents. The CO2 permeability of the Pebax-2533/ZIF-7 mixed matrix membrane gradually decreased without increasing the permeability in the range of 0~5 wt% of ZIF-7. Regarding CO2/N2 selectivity, both mixed films showed a tendency to increase with increasing the ZIF-7 content. In particular, Pebax-2533/ZIF-7 5 wt% showed the best gas permeation performance compared to other mixed matrix membrane. This is thought to be because ZIF-7 shows better compatibility with Pebax-2533 than that of Pebax-1657 and also better CO2 selective property.

In the present study, Pebax-2533 plate membranes were prepared by drying precursor solutions which were obtained by dissolving Pebax-2533 polymer in 1-Propanol/n-Butanol mixed solvents. And then the $CO_2$ and $N_2$ permeation behaviors were tested by using a time-lag system. The prepared Pebax-2533 plate membranes showed a considerable $CO_2/N_2$ separation performance : the $CO_2$ permeability was 130 to 288 barr, and the $CO_2/N_2$ permselectivity was 5-8. The $CO_2$ permeation data obtained by varying feed pressure, permeation temperature, and solvent composition announced that not only the $CO_2$ sorption but also the $CO_2$ diffusion is equally important in the overall $CO_2$ permeation.
Poly(ether-block-amide)(PEBA, $PEBAX^{TM}$) resin is a thermoplastic elastomer combining linear chains of hard-rigid polyamide block interspaced soft-flexible polyether block. It was believed that the hard polyamide block provides the mechanical strength and permeation selectivity, whereas gas transport occurs primarily through the soft polyether block. The objective of this work was to investigate the gas permeation properties of carbon dioxide and methane for $PEBAX^{TM}$-1657 membrane and compare with those obtained for other grade of $PEBAX^{TM}$, $PEBAX^{TM}$-2533. And the organic/inorganic hybrid membranes were prepared using $PEBAX^{TM}$ and TEOS(tetraethoxysilane) by sol-gel process, and gas permeation properties were studied. $PEBAX^{TM}$-2533 membrane exhibited higher gas permeability coefficients than $PEBAX^{TM}$-1657 membrane. This was explained by the increase of chain mobility. The permeability coefficients for $PEBAX^{TM}$/TEOS hybrid membranes were higher than pure $PEBAX^{TM}$ membranes. This results were explained by the reduction of crystallinity of polyamide block by the introduction of TEOS. Ideal separation factor of hybrid membranes does not change much. This might be due to the increase of solubility selectivity.
This study was a study on an facilitated transport membrane to replace the cryogenic separation method currently used in olefin/paraffin separation. Cost reduction is also a very important factor to commercialize facilitated transport membranes. However, AgBF4, which has been studied a lot, is a relatively expensive silver salt. To replace this, a PEBAX-2533/ AgCF3SO3/Al(NO3)3 composite film was prepared using relatively inexpensive AgCF3SO3. It was analyzed through SEM, FT-IR, and RAMAN. Through this study, it was confirmed that the polymer matrix affects the long-term stability.
Poly(ether-block-amide)(PEBAX$_{(R)}$) resin is a thermoplastic elastomer combining linear chains of hard-rigid polyamide block interspaced soft-flexible polyether block. It was believed that the hard polyamide block provides the mechanical strength and permselectivity, whereas gas transport occurs primarily through the soft polyether block. The objective of this work was to investigate the gas permeation properties of carbon dioxide and methane for PEBAX$^{(R)}$-1657 membrane, and compare with those obtained for other grade of pure PEBAX$^{(R)}$, PEBAX$^{(R)}$-2533 and PEBAX$^{(R)}$ based hybrid membranes. The hybrid membranes based PEBAX$^{(R)}$ were obtained by a sol-gel process using GPTMS ((3-glycidoxypropyl) trimethoxysilane) as the only inorganic precursor. Molecular structure and morphology of membrane were analyzed by $^{29}Si$-NMR, DSC and SEM. PEBAX$_{(R)}$-2533 membrane exhibited higher gas permeability coefficients than PEBAX$^{(R)}$-1657 membrane. This was explained by the increase of chain mobility. In contrast, ideal separation factor of $CO_2/CH_4$ for PEBAX$^{(R)}$-1657 membrane was higher than PEBAX$^{(R)}$-2533 membrane. It was explained by the decrease of diffusion selectivity caused by increase of chain mobility. For PEBAX$^{(R)}$/GPTMS hybrid membrane, gas permeability coefficients were decreased with reaction time. Gas permeability coefficient of $CH_4$ was more significantly decreased than $CO_2$. It can be explained by the reduction of chain mobility caused by the sol-gel process, and strong affinity of PEO segment with $CO_2$. Comparing with pure PEBAX$^{(R)}$-1657 membrane, ideal separation factor of $CO_2/CH_4$ for PEBAX$^{(R)}$/GPTMS hybrid membrane has decreased to 4.5%, and gas permeability coefficient of $CO_2$ has increased 3.5 times.
In this study, mixed matrix membranes were prepared by mixing the synthesized zeolitic imidazolate framework-7 (ZIF-7) with poly(ether-b-amide) 2533 (PEBAX2533). A single gas (N2, CO2) was permeated through the membrane to investigate the properties of the gas. Through FT-IR, XRD, and FE-SEM, the peaks and shapes of ZIF-7 were confirmed, and it was determined that the synthesis was successful. Through TGA, it was confirmed that ZIF-7 has excellent thermal stability and that when incorporated into the membrane, the thermal stability is improved compared to pure PEBAX2533. It was found that ZIF-7 synthesized through BET had excellent CO2 adsorption capacity and CO2/N2 adsorption selectivity showed a high value of about 49.64. For the gas permeation, as the ZIF-7 content in the mixed membrane increases, the N2 permeability decreases and the CO2 permeability slightly decreases, while the CO2/N2 selectivity steadily increases. In particular, when 20 wt% of ZIF-7 was added, the CO2 permeability did not decrease significantly and the CO2/N2 selectivity increased considerably, resulting in the performance approaching to the Robeson upper-bound.

In this study, hydrophilic coating characteristics of PVDF [poly(vinylidene fluoride)] hollow fiber membranes with flower type cross-section prepared by thermally induced phase separation were studied. The hollow fiber used in this study was provided from PureEnvitech Co. Ltd., and the hydrophilic coating experiment was performed with different concentration and number of coating of PEBAX 1657, 2533 and 3533 block copolymer solution using a dip coating method. The hydrophilic coated hollow fiber membrane was characterized to scanning microscope and contact angle measurements to determine the degree of hydrophilization. As a result of SEM characterization, it was confirmed that the thickness of the coating layer increased as the coating concentration increased and the number of coatings increased. Contact angle of surface of hollow fibers decreased as the concentration of the coating solution increased and the number of coatings increased. Gas permeance of oxygen gas was measured for the application of the hydrophilized hollow fiber to Membrane Areated Biofilm Reactor. As a result of gas permeation test, it was confirmed that gas permeance decreased with increasing coating concentration and number of coatings, and the more hydrophilized hollow fiber coated with PEBAX 1657 showed lower gas permeance than those coated with PEBAX 2533 and 3533.
In this study, a mixed matrix membrane was prepared by varying the contents of PEI-GO@ZIF-8 synthesized in PEBAX 2533, and the permeation characteristics of N2 and CO2 were studied. The N2 permeability of the PEBAX/PEIGO@ZIF-8 mixed matrix membrane decreased as the PEI-GO@ZIF-8 content increased, and the CO2 permeability showed different trends depending on the PEI-GO@ZIF-8 content. The CO2 permeability increased in pure PEBAX membrane up to PEBAX/PEI-GO@ZIF-8 0.1 wt%, but decreased at the subsequent content. The PEI-GO@ZIF-8 0.1 wt% mixed matrix membrane had a CO2 permeability of 221.9 Barrer and a CO2/N2 selectivity of 60.0, showing the highest permeation properties with improved CO2 permeability and CO2/N2 selectivity among the prepared mixed matrix membrane and we obtained a result that reached the Robeson upper-bound. This is due to the -COOH, -O-, and -OH functional groups of GO and the amine group bonded to PEI, which interact friendly with CO2, and the effect of ZIF-8, which causes gate-opening for CO2 while the fillers are evenly dispersed in PEBAX.
In this study, poly (ether-block-amide) (PEBAX)/poly (ethylene) glycoldiacrylate (PEGDA)/zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8)-polyethersulfone (PES) composite membranes were prepared. The gas permeation properties of N2 and CO2 were investigated for each composite membrane. First, the gas permeability in the PEBAX/PEGDA-PES composite membrane decreased with increasing PEGDA content for each molecular weight at PEGDA250, PEGDA575, and PEGDA-700 g/mol. The CO2/N2 selectivity showed a constant value and gradually increased with increasing PEGDA content after 30 wt% PEGDA, and PEBAX/PEGDA250 50 wt%-PES prepared by adding PEGDA250 g/mol 50 wt% showed a selectivity of 15.1. This is because as the PEGDA content increases, the number of diacrylate groups increases, and the CO2 affinity due to the ether structure of PEGDA increases. Gas permeation properties according to ZIF-8 were investigated for composite membranes of PEGDA 0 to 30 wt%, with CO2/N2 selectivity almost constant for each molecular weight. The permeability of N2 and CO2 gradually increased with increasing ZIF-8 content, and CO2/N2 selectivity was the highest at 3.4 in PEBAX/PEGDA250 g/mol 30 wt%/ZIF-8 20 wt%-PES composite membrane.
In this study, a mixed matrix membrane was prepared by varying the contents of GO and PEI-GO synthesized in PEBAX2533, and the permeation characteristics of N2 and CO2 were studied. The N2 and CO2 permeability of the PEBAX/GO mixed membrane decreased as the GO content increased, and showed the highest CO2/N2 selectivity of 58.9 at GO 0.3 wt%. For the PEBAX/PEI-GO mixed membrane, the N2 permeability decreased as the PEI-GO content increased, and the CO2 permeability showed a different trend according to the PEI-GO content. Overall, the CO2/N2 selectivity was higher than that of the PEBAX/GO mixed membrane. In particular, PEI-GO 0.3 wt% showed the highest CO2/N2 selectivity of 73.5 among the mixed membranes, and a positive result was obtained as it was located above the Robeson upper bound. This is believed to be due to the molecular sieving channel effect resulting from the original GO structure, the functional groups present in the structure of GO having affinity for CO2, and the effect of amine bound to PEI by modifying GO into PEI.
