  • For a visual inspectio system to be viable, it must in general achieve the same or lower costs as those incurred by manual methods, it must have a reasonable inspection rate, and it must be reliable and maintainable : for the visual inspection system, inspection at high speed, flexibility for variety of products, and low cost are needed. In order to solve these problems, we propose the visual inspection algorithm by divide-and-conquer technique using the pyramid data structure and the development of simplified pattern matching method. By this method we can reduce the number of data required to compare with patterns and make the inspection time short.

  • Since inspection, ID-code recognition, and pattern match processes requiring vision depend upon the high-grade human recognition capability, these processes have conventionally caused a bottle-neck in automatizing sewing system. However, the authors have recently developed the technology of inspecting the surface defects of textiles and recognizing ID-code by fully utilizing the image processing technology. In the ID-code recognition technology, the most difficult data given on patterns can be read as a result of developing the image processing technology and eliminating noises by using a special (fluorescent) ink. The inspection and pattern match technology was verified to be able to put into practical use through evaluation experiments in an experimental plant.

  • The paper presented results of the strength distributions and tension failure behaviors of splices subjected to tension forces. The bolting patterns in the tension splices are regular and staggered patterns in the research. The finite element analyses were carried out to examine the experimental results and evaluated the stress distribution patterns. The yield stresses, maximum tension stresses, stress distribution ratios, and effective net areas were analyzed through the tension experiments.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel defects inspection algorithm for TFT-LCD panels. We first compensate the distorted image caused by the camera distortion and the uneven illumination environment using the least squares method and the bezier surface. We find a starting point of each pattern. The reference frame, made by subtract method using several clean patterns, is compared to each pattern to find defects. The simulation example shows that our algorithm not only inspects the defects well, but also is robust to the 1-pixel error.

  • In this experimental program specimens. designed by the test variables, such as percentage of steel fiber incorporated, were constructed and tested to evaluate the flexural performance of reinforced steel fiber concrete beams. Based on the test results reported in this study, the following conclusions are made. Comparing with the load-displacement relationship of standard specimen, specimen over 0.5% of steel fiber incorporated, could be improved significantly flexural performance, such as capacity, ductility, and crack pattern. As increasing in quantity of steel fiber incorporated(0.5%~2.0%), the flexural strength of each specimen was shown the enhancement of 13%~40% in comparision with the standard specimen BSS.

  • From the end of July 2012, several cases of abortion have been happened at the Korean indigenous cattle farm with 124 heads in Chungbuk province, Korea. Serological tests such as Rose-bengal test (RBT) and standard tube agglutination test (STAT) have been performed according to the standard official protocols of bovine brucellosis and 41 cattle turned out to be brucellosis-positive simultaneously. To find out the main factors of brucellosis outbreaks and spreads, additional serological, etiological and molecular investigation were applied. Totally, 11 B. abortus were isolated from 10 cattle's specimens including lymph-nodes and/or testis, and drinking water in cowhouse. In genotyping by multi-locus VNTR assay (MLVA) using 17 loci markers, the present B. abortus isolates were shown all the same pattern, D1 genotype, which has been reported in Gyeonggi and Gangwon province, Korea. These results suggest that the input of brucellosis might come from neighboring farms directly or indirectly, even if by unknown factor and expansion within farm would accelerate by materials related with aborting cows.

  • This letter proposes a memory-based parallel string matching engine using the compressed state transitions. In the finite-state machines of each string matcher, the pointers for representing the existence of state transitions are compressed. In addition, the bit fields for storing state transitions can be shared. Therefore, the total memory requirement can be minimized by reducing the memory size for storing state transitions.

As the result of this research, the definition of the duty in Hanbok production is 'to conduct a series of step-by-step processes of planning and developing fabric and design, then making pattern, cutting fabric and sewing.' The competency unit for Hanbok production is analyzed in 10 categories: analysis of market trends, design plan, production and manipulation of fabric, production process plan, sample making, pattern making, cutting out, sewing, finishing sewing, inspection of the product quality. Competency unit elements of each competency unit are as follows. 1) analysis of market trends: to research market trend resources, to analyse consumers' buying trend, to analyse industry changes, 2) design plan: to develop design, to plan fabrication, to draw flats, 3) production and manipulation of fabric: to develop fabric planning, to prepare fabric manipulation, to conduct fabric manipulation, 4) production process plan: to grasp design, to plan sewing method, to prepare a specification sheet, 5) sample making: to make a sample pattern, to cut sample fabrics, to sew sample, to finish sample making, 6) pattern making: to measure body, to make production pattern, to adjust production pattern, 7) cutting out: to care fabrics, to lay out patterns, to cut out fabrics, 8) sewing: to sew a garment, to sew a lining, to attach a lining, 9) finishing sewing: to neaten edges, to attach trims, to press to finish, 10) inspection of the product quality: to confirm correspondence with the specification sheet, to inspect appearance.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare how the number of panels, the amount of flare and the flare starting point affect the silhouette of the gored skirt. This study consisted of (1) creation of 3D body representations (2) comparison of silhouette between 3D virtual gored skirt and actual gored skirt by pilot experiment (3) pattern drafting of twenty-seven different gored skirts for 3D body representations (4) a computer simulation of twenty-seven different gored skirts for visualization and assessment (5) visual inspection of twenty-seven different 3D virtual gored skirts (6) comparison of ham shapes and measurements for the node and size analysis. A visual inspection of twenty-seven different 3D virtual gored skirts showed clear differences by the amount of flare and the flare starting point ; however, there was notably less difference in the width of ham among six-piece, eight-piece and ten-piece panels. This demonstrated that there was less influence on the number of panels than the amount of flare width of ham and extent of ham for the 3D virtual gored skirt.
