The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationship between the elderly's participation in exercise, cognitive function, and life satisfaction. The participants of this study consisted of 2491 elderly people who were the subjects of the 2017 elderly survey. The measuring tools were the cognitive function scale and the life satisfaction inventory. Participation in exercise used exercise time for one week. The collected data was analyzed through SPSS and AMOS 18 version. The results of this study were as follows. First, exercise participation was found to have a positive effect on the cognitive function of the elderly. Second, participation in exercise had significant effect on the life satisfaction of the elderly. Third, it was found that the cognitive function of the elderly had a positive effect on life satisfaction. Finally, it was found that cognitive function was as a mediator in the relationship between exercise participation and life satisfaction of the elderly. Various discussions on the structural relationship between the elderly's participation in exercise, cognitive function, and life satisfaction were presented.

Citizen's involvement in forest decision-making is recently acknowledged as a potential solution to forest management conflicts. Through participation, affected citizens become a part of the decision-making process. This paper focuses on the use of collaborative and participatory model(CPM) for urban forest management. The model, which is exemplified by the Daejisan case in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, utilizes the collaborative decision-making structure and the gradual level of resident participation in urban forest management. As a result, the committee in the model contributed to building partnerships among different interest groups and then to constructing environmentally compatible urban park. Furthermore, an improvement in the levels of resident participation was manifested in the process. These characteristics of CPM can encourage participation and cooperation among stakeholders and ultimately contribute to realizing sustainable urban forest management.

With the increase of the aging population in Korea, the welfare of Korean elderly has become one of main concerns of the society. One essential factor that may enhance the quality of life of the elderly is the active social participation. Involvement in the volunteer activity is one form of social participation that benefits both society and individual. The purpose of this study is to examine the level of Korean elderly's participation in volunteer activities and factors related to their participation in the context of different age group. People aged 55 and over from wave 2 data of Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing are grouped into pre-old(55-64), young old(65-75), and old old (75 and older). Main analytic tools include descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis. Results indicated that social relationships of the elderly were the most important factors related with their participation with voluntary activities. Also highlighted is the importance of considering the diversity among the older population.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to draw practical implications applicable to the field by analyzing a double-mediator model of social participation and depression in relation to the utilization of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and cognitive function. Methods: The data from the Fifth Living Profiles of Older People Survey in Korea was used, and the sample included 3,925 people, 75 years of age or older. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and the PROCESS macro test were used for verification of the double mediator model. Results: The results were as follows: First, ICT utilization was rated at an average of 1.4 out of 10, social participation at an average of 1.1 out of 7, depression at an average of 3.72 out of 15, and cognitive function at an average of 22.42 out of 30. Second, ICT utilization has a significant effect on cognitive function. Third, the mediating effects of social participation between ICT utilization and cognitive function were significant. Fourth, the mediating effects of depression between ICT utilization and cognitive function were not significant. Fifth, the serial double mediator effects leading to ICT utilization, social participation, depression, and cognitive function were significant. Conclusion: The study discussed the implications of maintaining and protecting cognitive function in the vulnerable elderly through the utilization of ICT.

Community participation, community satisfaction and sense of community stand out as key factors that promote community development. This study aims to examine the structural equation model among sense of community, community participation, and community satisfaction in the Rural New Revitalization Plus Projects in Kongju. Data were collected from 411 structured questionnaires twenty-three rural communities, Kyeongnam and Chungnam province. Results showed that individuals with shared emotional connection were more likely to participate community development projects. And individuals with membership and fulfillment of needs are more like to be satisfied with their community. Additionally community participation has the fully moderating effect between shared emotional connection and satisfaction. Findings suggest that policy makers and community development practitioners consider community participation and sense of community for enhancing community development.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the current status and to suggest some strategies for vitalizations of the citizen participation in Korean public library administration as a part of exploring ways toward the development of public libraries in the time of localization. The concepts, types, needs and some problems of the citizen participation in local public administration are examined as a theoretical framework for this study. Public library board system in America and public library council system in Japan are investigated on their history, legal status, composition, function and are evaluated as a citizen participation system. Results of the survey on actual conditions of the institutional device for citizen participation in Korean public library administration, library administration committee, are presents. And some strategies for vitalizations of the system are suggested.

The purpose of this study is to examine how the level of participation in dance classes affects the development of social skills and peer relationship. The results are as follows: First, in terms of social skill development and peer relationship based on demographic characteristics, competition-a sub-factor of peer relationship-was higher in male students. In terms of grade level, confidence-a sub-factor of peer relationship-was high in second year students. Second, in terms of the effect of dance class participation on social skill development, autonomy, achievement, and cooperation-sub-factors of social skill-were significantly influenced by the period of participation in dance classes. Participation frequency, on the other hand, was found to significantly impact accountability and activity. Such results indicate that longer dance class participation periods more significantly influences social skill development. Third, in terms of the influence of dance class participation in peer relationship, students who participated in dance classes longer experienced positive impacts regarding sub-factors of peer relationship. Longer participation periods were correlated with lower hostilities. That is, longer participation period and time, as well as, higher participation frequency, have impact on peer relationship.

For the purpose of finding correlation between the characteristics of the rural residents and the maintenance activities of naturally favorable waterside spaces, this paper has conducted a research with the focus on the three model case regions in Japan. The methods of the research included surveys, interviews, and documents. The research confirmed that the three regions in focus have characteristics distinct from one another. The rate of participation in group activities was high in a region, with members that belong to groups most active in the maintenance activities. Reasons for their participation included: to manage the local area themselves; and to promote cooperation and friendships among the residents. This proves that participation in the maintenance activities has also attributed to the formation of close communities in the regions. According to the analytic conclusion of the factors related to participation, the residents' experience to have been involved in a professional education program which induces communal participation, acted more as the major factor than the individual ones.

With rapid growth and competition of electronic commerce through internet, various buying types and business models are being appeared. In this paper, we studied group buying which is new business model to consumer and factors affecting on trust and participation of group buying. The followings are the regression result of this study. First, familiarity factor, customer service factor, seal of security and product value factor made a significant effect on trust. Second, familiarity factor, perceived reputation factor, customer service factor, seal of security and product value factor made a significant effect on participation of group buying. Third, trust of group buying made a significant effect on participation of group buying. In this study, modeling and empirical test were implemented about structure of trust and participation of group buying. We can know where our group buying strategies should focus and which factor we should improve.

This study begins with an interest in community capacity, the basis for mobilizing community action and the driving force of community development. The study aims to identify the structural equation model of community capacity, social participation, satisfaction in life, and the impact relationship and to verify the differences between urban and rural areas. The analysis data used the 2018Korean Social Integration Survey, which is the statistical data for national approval. The analysis method was performed by using SPSS was used to perform descriptive analysis and t-test, and the structural equation model. Multi-group analysis of AMOS was also performed to verify the research model. As the result of analysis, both the condition and status of community capacity and social participation, which are products of community capacity, showed a higher average of rural areas than urban areas. As a result of the analysis of the structural equation model between community capacity, social participation, and life satisfaction, differences between rural and urban groups were identified. In rural areas, both the capacity-condition and the capacity-status variables act as positive factors for social participation and life satisfaction, but in urban areas, the path of capacity-condition, social participation, capacity-status and life satisfaction was significant. On the other hand, social participation variables acted as a factor of direct and indirect negatively influence on life satisfaction. Therefore, it can be said that the quality of community capacity in rural areas is superior to that of urban areas.
