Effects of Significance of Study, Pressure for Study and Success on Life Satisfaction among Adolescents, and the Moderating Effect of Parent-Adolescent Communication (청소년 삶의 만족도에 대한 공부 중요성 인식, 공부압력과 성공압력의 영향력 및 부모-자녀 의사소통의 중재효과)

  • The present study explored effects of significance of study, pressure for study, and pressure for success on life satisfaction of adolescents, and moderating effect of parent-adolescent communication. Participants were 1,384 adolescents in elementary, middle, and high school, and they responded all the questionnaires by themselves. Results were as follows. Firstly, there were significant differences in extent of significance of study, pressure for study and success, parent-adolescent communication, and life satisfaction of adolescents according to their demographic variables. Secondly, the more they got significance on study, and the more their parents emphasized study and success, the lower their life satisfaction was. Finally, there was a moderating effect of parent-adolescent communication. As adolescents had a positive communication with their parents, the negative effects for the significance of study and pressure for study and success on their life satisfaction were lessened.

Development of the Parent-Satisfaction Scale (<부모의 역할만족도 척도> 의 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the Parent Satisfaction Scale(PSS) to measure the various components of satisfaction related to parenting. The subjects were 1210 parents(249 fathers and 961 mothers) selected nation widely from 7 cities and several rural area in Korea. the statistics used for data analysis were Fisher's Exact Test, Cramer's V, factor analysis multiple regression, Cronbach's α,and Pearson's correlation. To begin with eighty of 100-item scale were selected through the item analysis and from that 48 items were abstracted through the multiple regression analysis conducted to reduce the length of the scale. Results of factor analysis indicated that the PSS comprised of five factors: general satisfaction parent-child relationship spouse support parent's role conflict support of children. Reliabilities for the domains ranged from 79 to 91. To determine the construct validity of this instrument the Marital Satisfaction Scale and the Proverb about child rearing were administered. The two creterion measures showed significant relationships with the PSS. The final 48 items scale from the current analysis were considered to be critical steps in the development of this assessment device.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the mediating effects of communication skills and pediatric nurse-parent partnership on the relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction among pediatric nurses. Methods: A survey was administered to 205 pediatric nurses working in children's, general, and tertiary hospitals situated in Chungcheong province and Seoul. Data were collected in August and September 2022. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS Statistics version 26.0 along with the PROCESS macro program. Results: Emotional intelligence had a significant effect, and was a critical factor affecting the job satisfaction of pediatric nurses. Furthermore, communication skills and nurse-parent partnership had a serial double mediating effect. Conclusion: These findings underscore the significance of conducting job satisfaction improvement programs, including strategies for augmenting emotional intelligence, bolstering communication skills, and fostering nurse-parent partnership.

Perception of Uncertainty and Satisfaction for Nursing Service of Children's Parents Visiting to Pediatrics Outpatient Department and Emergency Room (소아과 외래와 응급실 내원 아동 부모의 불확실성 인지와 간호서비스 만족도)

  • Purpose: This study was a descriptive research to provide fundamental data in ensuring a high quality of nursing service needed by children's parent according to perception of uncertainty and care satisfaction of them between pediatric outpatient department and emergency room. Methods: For this study, 192 children's parents were questioned in a general hospital located in Busan from August 1 to 31. 2009. The collected data were scored by use of frequencies, $x^2$ test, t-test, AONVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient via SPSS/WIN 17.0. Results: With the compare of characteristics related to children's parents visiting emergency room and pediatric outpatient department, there were statistically significant difference in relation and age of parent, main caregiver, cause of arrival, and waiting time from arrival to procedure. The perception of uncertainty for parent in the emergency room showed significant difference to outpatient department. In nursing service, the highest score was category of professional skill and technic. In addition, overall parents' perceptions on providing information showed lower than any other nursing service. Last but not least, a significant correlation indicated between the perception of uncertainty and satisfaction of nursing service. Conclusion: Efforts to improve parent satisfaction for nursing service are needed to decrease their perception of uncertainty. Providing information and communication by nurses are necessary to improve quality of nursing service.

The Moderated Effect of Parent-Adolescent Communication Style and School Life Satisfaction on the Relationship between Depression and Suicidal Ideation among Adolescents (청소년의 우울과 자살생각과의 관계에 대한 부모-자녀 의사소통방식과 학교생활만족도의 중재효과)

  • The present study examined the effect of parent-adolescent communication style and school life satisfaction on the relationship between depression and suicidal ideation among adolescents. The participants were 1,099 middle school and high school students in Chungnam province. The instruments used were the 'Parent-Adolescent Communication Inventory', 'The Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale', 'Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire', and 'School Life Satisfaction Scale'. The collected data were analyzed by t test, F test, the Scheff$\'{e}$ test for a post hoc test, Pearson's productive correlation, hierachical multiple regression, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ for reliability by SPSS program(18.0 version). The results were as follows: First, there were significant differences in parent-adolescent open communication style, school life satisfaction, and suicidal ideation by school level, and in the relationship with the teacher in school life satisfaction by gender. Second, the more depressed they were, the more they had suicidal ideation by school level and gender. Also, the more they communicated openly with their parents and the more satisfied they were with their school life, the less depressed they were and the lower degree of suicidal ideation they had. Finally, there were significant effects of both parent-adolescent communication style and school life satisfaction on the relationship between depression and suicidal ideation among adolescents.

The Multiple Mediating Effects of Time Use Satisfaction and Morality on the Relationship between Upper Elementary Students' Parent-Child Relationships and Cyberbullying Perpetration (초등학교 고학년 아동의 부모-자녀관계와 사이버폭력 가해 간의 관계에서 시간사용만족도와 도덕성의 다중매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the multiple mediating effects of time use satisfaction and morality on the relationship between children's parent-child relationships and cyberbullying perpetration. To achieve this a convenience sample of 465 fifth and sixth-grade students from six elementary schools located in D City and G Do Province was recruited. The data collected for this study were analyzed using IBM SPSS 27.0 and AMOS 23.0 programs for descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, and path analysis. The principal results were as follows. First, parent-child relationship significantly influenced time use satisfaction and morality. Additionally, children's time use satisfaction and morality were found to have a significant impact on cyberbullying perpetration. Secondly, in the relationship between parent-child relationships and cyberbullying perpetration, the total mediating effect of time use satisfaction and morality, as well as the individual mediating effects of time use satisfaction and morality, were also significant. These findings emphasize the significance of the parent-child relationship in addressing cyberbullying perpetration and suggest that both home and school education should guide children to use their time satisfactorily. Supplementing this, various educational programs should be developed to enhance children's morality.

The Effect of Child-Care Providers' Child-Care Efficacy on Job Satisfaction: The Moderating Role of Parental Support (아이돌보미의 보육효능감이 직무만족도에 미치는 영향: 부모 지지의 조절효과)

  • Objective: This study aimed to examine the moderating effect of parent support on the relationship between child-care efficacy and job satisfaction among child-care providers. Methods: The study involved 192 child-care providers from G Metropolitan City. Survey were conducted using questionnaires assessing child-care efficacy, job satisfaction, and parent support. Data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0, with correlation and hierarchical regression analyses. Results: The results were as follows. First, higher levels of child-care efficacy and parental support were associated with greater job satisfaction. Additionally, a positive correlation was found between child-care efficacy and parental support. Second, parental support moderated the relationship between child-care efficacy and job satisfaction. Conclusion/Implications: This research is expected to provide foundational data for developing policies that benefit children, families, and child-care providers by identifying key factors influencing job satisfaction and clarifying the relationships among these factors.

Comparison on Middle-aged and Older People's Depression and Life Satisfaction According to Family Caregiving Types

  • This study examined data from National Pension Research Institute's 5th Panel Survey on Security for the Aged in 2013. The subjects of this study are middle-aged and older people aged 50 or older providing care for parents or grandchildren. The subjects are total 226, 53 parent caregivers and 173 grandchild caregivers. According to the results, both types indicate low depression, and their life satisfaction records over 3 out of 5. Grandchild caregivers show higher life satisfaction than parent caregivers. Any of the factors influencing depression and life satisfaction are not found to be significant in parent caregivers. Grandchild caregivers' educational level and health condition influence depression negatively and life satisfaction positively.

Marital Satisfaction among Married Women in Korea (기혼여성의 결혼만족도)

  • The purposes of this study are to investigate marital satisfaction according to demographic characteristic, division of household labor, and awareness of gender discrimination, and to explore influences of demographic and other variables on marital satisfaction. Social statistics survey data which collected in 1998 by ministry of statistics were used for secondary analysis of this study. Marital satisfaction was measured by questionnaire which was consisted in 7 items, including satisfaction with general family life, relationship with their own parent and parent-in-law, relationship with brothers and sisters, relationship with their children, and economic living status. These are measured by 5-point Likert scale. Independent variables are age, education, employment status, having their own house or not, No. of children under school age, parents living or not, perception of sexual discrimination, and division of household labor. The findings of this study show that there are significant differences of marital satisfaction by all independents variables, and all independent variables except employment have significant influences on marital satisfaction. People who are younger, received higher education, have their own house, have more children under schoolage and whose parent are living in the world, show higher marital satisfaction. The more husbands participate to household labor, the better marital satisfaction. In case of perception of sexual discrimination, main effect is not significant, but interaction effect with age is significant. Interaction effect between age and education is also significant. 32.52% of the variance in marital satisfaction were accounted for by these variables.

Satisfaction and Repurchase Intention of Individual Purchase and Co-Purchase School Uniform (교복 공동구매와 개별구매 만족도 및 재구매의도)

  • This study intended to provide information which gives a way for students and their parents to be satisfied with student costume purchase by showing differences between their satisfactions and repurchasing intention according to school uniform purchase type. Total 280 questionnaires were distributed to the first year students at a private middle school in Seoul and 133 of copurchase cases and 120 individual purchase cases were collected and analyzed. The comparing results between parent satisfaction and repurchasing intention were summarized as follows. First, parent satisfaction of individual purchase and of co-purchase had been evaluated. As a result of the analysis of satisfaction by the five factors, individual parent buyers had higher satisfaction in brand, quality, design, and service except price. The largest different factor between both customers was quality satisfaction. Secondly, the individual buyers showed higher repurchasing intention than co-purchasing buyers. This result meant that individual purchasing group showed higher satisfaction. Lastly, when the relationship between satisfaction and repurchasing intention of each buyer group was examined, the level of satisfaction was positively associated with the repurchase intention of co-purchase.
