연성 막구조의 파라메트릭 설계 시스템 개발 (Development of a Parametric Design System for Membrane Structures)

  • The objective of this research is to development of a parametric design system for membrane structures. The parametric design platform for the spatial structures has been designed and implemented. Rhino3D is used as a 3D graphic kernel and Grasshopper is introduced as a parametric modeling engine. Modeling components such as structural members, loading conditions, and support conditions are developed for structural modeling of the spatial structures. The interface module with commercial structural analysis programs is implemented. An iterative generation algorithm for design alternatives is a part of the design platform. This paper also proposes a design approach for the parametric design of Spoke Wheel membrane structures. A parametric modeling component is designed and implemented. SOFiSTik is examined to interact with the design platform as the structural analysis module. The application of the developed interface is to design optimally Spoke Wheel Shaped Ductile Membrane Structure using parametric design. It is possible to obtain objective shape by controlling the parameter using a parametric modeling designed for shape finding of spoke wheel shaped ductile membrane structure. Recently, looking at the present Construction Trends, It has increased the demand of the large spatial structure. But, It requires a lot of time for Modeling design and the Structural analysis. Finally an optimization process for membrane structures is proposed.

  • Most commercial CAD systems provide parametric modeling functions, and by using these capabilities designers can edit a CAD model in order to create design variants. It is necessary to transfer parametric information during a CAD model exchange to modify the model inside the receiving system. However, it is not possible to exchange parametric information of CAD models based on the cur-rent version of STEP. The designer intents which are contained in the parametric information can be lost during the STEP transfer of CAD models. This paper introduces a hybrid CAB model translator, which also uses the feature tree of commercial CAD systems in addition to the macro file to allow transfer of parametric information. The macro-parametric approach is to exchange CAD models by using the macro file, which contains the history of user commands. To exchange CAD models using the macro-parametric approach, the modeling commands of several commercial CAD systems are analyzed. Those commands are classified and a set of standard modeling commands has been defined. As a neutral fie format, a set of standard modeling commands has been defined. Mapping relations between the standard modeling commands set and the native modeling commands set of commercial CAD systems are defined. The scope of the current version is limited to parts modeling and assemblies are excluded.

The Parametrics Group of ISO/TC184/SC4 has proposed the SMCH schema, which includes constructs for exchange of parametric information. This paper proposes a macro-parametric approach that is intended to provide capabilities to transfer parametric information including design intents. In this approach, CAD models are exchanged in the form of macro files. The macro file contains the history of user commands, which are used in the modeling phase. To exchange CAD models using the macro-parametric approach, the modeling commands of several commercial CAD systems are analyzed. Mapping relations between the standard modeling commands and the native modeling commands of commercial CAD systems are defined. The ISO Parametrics Group has proposed the SMCH (Solid Model Construction History) schema in June 2000 that includes structures fur exchange of parametric information. This paper proposes the macro parametric approach that is intended to provide capabilities to transfer parametric information. In this approach, CAD models are exchanged in the form of macro files. The macro file contains user commands which are used in the modeling phase. To exchange CAD models using the macro parametric approach, modeling commands of commercial CAD systems are analyzed. Those commands are classified by the grouping method suggested by Bill Anderson. As a neutral file format, a standard modeling commands set has been defined.   • It is not possible to exchange parametric information of CAD models based on the current version of STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data). The designer intents are lost during the transfer of CAD models. To resolve this problem, the macro-parametric approach had been proposed. To enable this approach, a set of standard modeling commands has been defined. Errors or missing elements of the standard modeling commands can be discovered by implementing macro-parametric translators. But there is a limit to discover problems only by using translators. This paper proposes a method to verify the standard modeling commands by implementing a geometric modeler. First, each argument of a modeling command is verified. Second, the set of the standard modeling commands is applied to geometric modeling of commercially available product parts. For the geometric modeling, nine test models have been selected.

  • This paper presents a new approach to non-parametric modeling of cutter swept surface (CSS) for cutting simulation. Instead of explicitly modeling cutter swept volumes, silhouette curves of the cutter surface are utilized in computing the z-value of the CSS at a grid point on the x,y-plane. The non-parametric evaluation of the CSS constitutes the integral part of 3-axis cutting simulation. The proposed method is more efficient than the existing ones in the case of conventional cutters (i.e., ball-end mills and flat-end mills), and more importantly, it enables the non-parametric modeling of the CSS for the round-end mills which was not possible with the existing methods.

  • 본 논문에서는 건물 부재간의 수치비례 관계를 이용한 Parametric Modeling 방식을 통하여 효율적인 전통목조건축물 구현을 제안한다. 제안한 방법을 사용하여 우리나라의 대표적인 전통 목조건축인 경복궁 근정전의 구조 및 시공과정을 디지털로 구현한다. 일반적으로 전통건축문화재를 디지털화할 때 건축물의 외형적인 모습에 역점을 두고 제작을 하지만, 본 논문에서는 해당건축물을 해체해야 알 수 있는 눈에 보이지 않는 구조물과 이러한 구조물들이 결합하는 건축 시공순서를 보여줄 수 있도록 수많은 부재를 제작하고 각 위치에 맞게 배치하였다. 본 논문에서는 3D 디지털 근정전을 구현하기 위하여 사용한 Parametric 모델링기법과 Multi-Object Texture Mapping 기법, Physical Camera 와 GI Renderer 설정 그리 고 목조건물의 구조에 대한 전반적인 정보 및 모델링 자료는 다른 목조건축물을 디지털로 제작하는데 활용성이 높다고 할 수 있다.

Surface 및 Solid 방식의 비교를 통한 Parametric 기법의 토공물량산출 방법 (Parametric Quantity Take-Off of Earthwork by Comparing the Use of Surface and Solid Models)

  • There exists no precedented case of quantity take-off, using parametric modeling, from BIM-based irregular structures. Civil 3D provides earthwork quantity take-off based on surface modeling. Generally, designers should enter data into the specification additionally after extracting quantity estimation from earthwork modeling design. The objective of this report is to suggest the method from quantity take-off to specification of BIM-based earthwork quantities. We intend to investigate earthwork take-off method by Civil3D and explain why parametric information extraction is required for quantity estimation and specification and how information of earthwork quantity based on solid and surface modeling is connected to open quantity take-off module. It is highly expected that this suggestion would be the practical methodology of earthwork quantity take-off and specification in the field of civil engineering.

  • Integration of CAM and CAM information is important in the CIM era. For a CIM system, the feature representation can be a solution to the integration of product model data. These are geometry feature, functional feature, and manufacturing feature in the feature context. This paper proposes a framework to integrate the configuration design method, parametric modeling and the feature modeling method. The concept of design unit which is one level higher than functional feature and parametric modeling concept with functional features have been proposed.

  • Research that reconstructs a 3D model from a freehand 2D sketch has gained attention since 1990s, when data integration in the CAD/CAPP/CAM/CNC chain was an important issue. However, 2D sketches in the conceptual design phase have not been integrated with the downstream CAD/CAPP/CAM/CNC chain. In this paper, we present a method to interface a freehand sketch modeling to commercial CAD systems by mapping a sketch modeling history to the macro parametric history. We use an extended ISO10303-112 standard to represent the modeling history in a gestural modeling system and translate sketch files to neutral macro files. Macro parametric translators are used to translate netural macro files to commercial CAD files.
