  • The purpose of this study is to determine how the pre-test performed before training affects the results of CPR performance. In the case of the pre-test group(PTG), a pre-evaluation was performed for 1 minute before training, and the group that did not perform the pre-test(NPTG) performed only regular education. In both groups, skill test was performed for 1 minute after training. As a result of comparing the pre and post-test of PTG, there were statistically significant changes in chest compression depth, rate, and compression recoil. There was a statistically significant difference only in the chest compression rate in the chest compression performance results of the two groups after training. There was a statistically significant difference in the results of confidence after training in both groups. It is judged that the pre-test conducted before training has a good influence not only on the results of chest compression, but also on confidence improvement. Therefore, it is judged that it is necessary to develop additional programs such as pre-education test in order to increase the concentration of CPR education for the general population.

  • This research was conducted to improve the image of female emergency workers in a fire service organization by studying the perception trends of the increasing number of female paramedics. This human resource can be utilized more effectively by using the study results as baseline data. We conducted a survey from May 1 to June 30, 2013. The survey was analyzed using Q methodology and the program QUANL. For the Q sample, 31 emergency rescue paramedic students who had experienced ambulance field education were selected. As a result, four types of female paramedics were found; "superwoman," "hero" (who pushes against limits of stamina), "delicate guardian angel," and "skillful desk worker." The explanation powers were as follows: type I: 42.2%; type II: 4.8%; type III: 4%; and type IV: 3.6%. The sum of the figures explained 54.7% of the total variables. Generally, the students recognized female paramedics as professionals, but physical strength, baby care, and caring were considered as burdens. This requires changes in the organization's perception of female paramedics and an institutional strategy.

  • This study was progessed from March 3, 2015 to March 31 for purpose of evaluating the effects of the trauma-patient practice education using simulation on knowledge, satisfaction and problem-solving in paramedic students. To closely examine the adequacy of education for paramedic students in one university, a comparison was made by dividing 28 male and female students into two groups of experimental group with 14 students and control group with 14 students. The experimental group was carried out the practice education of the trauma-patient simulation using simulator. The control group was conducted the theoretical and practical education through a traditional instructor-led class. As a result of the research, the experimental group can be known to be significantly higher(t=2.09, p<.05) than the control group in the post-knowledge survey and satisfaction following the development in each educational method for 4 weeks. Also, in consequence of the variable-based correlation in the sub-factors of satisfaction, a correlation was shown between interest and clinical help or between interest and problem-solving ability(p<.05, p<.01). Based on the results of this study, it is considered that the simulation practice education in the emergency department is demanded and that the practice education will need to be continuously applied through developing a proper scenario.
