The decomposition behaviors of gaseous cyanides in non-thermal plasma-catalyst hybrid reactor have been investigated with the variation of discharge power, influent concentration of cyanide, humidity of air carrier and packed materials in the reactor. Destruction of cyanides by plasma only process was very difficult compared to that of trichloroethylene. But the destruction efficiencies of cyanides were dramatically improved through packing alumina or Pt/alumina bead in the plasma discharge region. From the results, it could be assumed that thermal catalytic effect is involved simultaneously with plasma in the reaction of cyanides destruction on the alumina or Pt/alumina packed plasma reactor.
The selective catalytic experiments using both sulfated/sulfur-free titania and V2O5/TiO2 catalysts have been conducted for NO reduction by NH3 in a packed-bed, down-flow reactor. The sulfated and vanadia loaded titania exhibited higher activity for NO removal than the sulfur-free catalysts, where > 90% NO removal was achieved over the sulfated V2O5/TiO2 catalyst between 280∼500 C. The surface structure of vanadia species on the catalyst surface played a critical role in the high performance of catalysts in which the existence of monomeric/polymeric vanadate is revealed by Raman spectra studies. Water vapor and SO2 were added to the reacting system for the catalyst deactivation tests. At higher temperatures (T ≥ 350 C), little deactivation was observed over the sulfated V2O5/TiO2 catalysts, showing good durability against SO2 and water vapor, which is compared with deactivation at lower temperatures.
Copper nanoparticle-doped and graphitic carbon nanofibers-covered porous carbon beads were used as an efficient catalyst for treating synthetic phenolic water by catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) in a packed bed reactor over 10-30 bar and $180-230^{\circ}C$, with air and water flowing co-currently. A mathematical model based on reaction kinetics assuming degradation in both heterogeneous and homogeneous phases was developed to predict reduction in chemical oxygen demand (COD) under a continuous operation with recycle. The catalyst and process also showed complete COD reduction (>99%) without leaching of Cu against a high COD (~120,000 mg/L) containing industrial wastewater.
Ethanol steam reforming reaction considered as a clean hydrogen production method is introduced in this paper. Reactivity and reaction rate equation of ethanol steam reforming reaction using various catalysts, reaction temperature, and molar ratio of ethanol and water will be discussed. In addition to introducing a membrane reactor combining a reactor and a separator, the effect of the use of a membrane reactor on an ethanol conversion and hydrogen yield will be compared to those from a conventional packed-bed reactor.

In hypersonic aircraft, increase of aerodynamic and engine heat lead thermal load in airframe. It could lead structural change of aircraft's component and malfunctioning. Endothermic fuels are liquid hydrocarbon fuels which are able to absorb the heat load by undergoing endothermic reactions. In this study, we investigated the method of measuring the heat sink of catalyst by using exo-tetrahydrodicyclopentadiene as a fuel in a packed bed flow reactor similar to the actual reaction conditions.

Solid oxide fuel cell(SOFC) has a higher fuel flexibility than low temperature fuel cells, such as polymer electrolyte fuel cell(PEMFC) and phosphoric acid fuel cell(PAFC). SOFCs also use CO and $CH_4$ as a fuel, because SOFCs are hot enough to allow the CH4 steam reformation(SR) reaction and water-gas shift(WGS) reaction occur within the SOFC stack itself. Diesel is a good candidate for SOFC system fuel because diesel reformate gas include a higher degree of CO and $CH_4$ concentration than other hydrocarbon(methane, butane, etc.) reformate gas. Selection of catalyst for autothermalr reforming of diesel was performed in this paper, and characteristics of reforming performance between packed-bed and microchannel catalyst are compared for SOFC system. The mesh-typed microchannel catalyst also investigated for diesel ATR operation for 1kW-class SOFC system. 1kW-class diesel microchannel ATR was continuously operated about 30 hours and its reforming efficiency was achieved nearly 55%.

Amorphous agglomerates of carbon nanospheres (CNS) with a diameter range of 10-50 nm were synthesized using the solution combustion method. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) revealed a densely packed high surface area of $SP^2$-hybridized carbon; however, there were no crystalline structural components, as can be seen from the scanning electron microscopy, HRTEM, X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and thermal gravimetric analyses. Electrochemical and thermo catalytic decomposition study results show that the material can be used as a potential electrode candidate for the fabrication of energy storage devices and also for the production of free hydrogen if such devices are used in a fluidized bed reactor loaded with the as-prepared CNS as the catalyst bed.

MEMS catalytic combustors were fabricated to use in micro-power sources as a heat source. The combustor was fabricated by photolithography and anisotropic wet etching of photosensitive glass wafers. Two different catalyst loading methods were used to complete the fabrication of the combustors. For thin film type, the $Al_2O_3$ was washcoated on the surface of the combustion chamber as a catalyst support, and for packed-bed type, ceramic foam was inserted after Pt was coated. The volume of the combustors was 1.8 $cm^3$ and 16W of heat was generated using the fabricated combustors with hydrogen. The energy density of combustor was about 8.9 W/$cm^3$.
Supercritical fluid technology was applied to the regeneration of industrial catalyst contaminated with toxic materials. The regeneration process of activated loaded with phenol was proposed, then the adsorphon tower was packed with the activated carbon-bed. Phenol diffuses into supercritical carbon dioxide(SCC) through the micro-pore and voldge of the activated carbon. The saturated solubility of phenol in SCC depended on the density of SCC varing with temperature and pressure conditions. Therefore, the fasile phase equilibrium calculation model of dxpanded liquid One was proposed, and equilibrium solubility of phenol in SCC was calculated using the model theoretically. The regeneration mechanism of activated carbon was analysed by degree of saturation of phenol and diffusion in SCC. The solubility prediction was more satisfactory for the wide range of SCC density than the dense gas model and the desorption of phenol depended on the degree of saturation of phenol in SCC.

In this experiment, an attempt to use the sludge pellets as catalyst for NO removal from simulated gas is experimentally investigated by using $BaTiO_3$-sludge packed-bed reactor of plate-plate geometry. An experimental investigation has been conducted for NO concentration of 50[ppm] balanced with air, a gas flow rate of 5[1/min]. $BaTiO_3$ pellets are filled at upstream of reactor for corona discharge and sludge pellets are put at downstream of reactor for catalystic effect. The volume rate of sludge pellets to $BaTiO_3$ pellets is 50[%] and AC voltage to dischare the gases was supplied. In the result, when sludge pellets is seperated to $BaTiO_3$ by other reactor and AC voltage is supplied to $BaTiO_3$ and sludge pellets NO, $NO_2$ removal rate is higher. When gas temperature increase from room temperature to 100[$^{\circ}C$], NO removal is decreased while $NO_2$ concentration is independent on gas temperature. This result suggest that the removal mechanism of active oxyzen species and $NO_2$ in sludge is not absorption, but chemical reaction. Temperature of heating treatment is on sludge pellets increased, $NO_x$ removal rate is decrease. It is thought that organic compound is removed by heating treatment.
