This paper presents the study on the development of the power factor correction convener with ZVT Boost converter, which is better than the conventional PWM Boost converter to increase the switching frequency for high density and lower stress of switch. A simple DC and small signal model for the power factor correction converter with constant switching frequency is derived. The guide line for design of controller is summarized.
The purpose of this study is developing a converter which is able to convert a 300[KW] power, and is a DC power supply output a 1500[V] DC voltage for inverter driving. The power converter is driven by two converter serisely and keep a high power factor of power source. This system is haven all the characteristic of voltage source converter by having a processing ability of regenerating power. The two converters controls a PWM modulation and output voltage using a only one 16 bit DSP processor.
In this paper, six harmonic injection PWM method for reducing total harmonic distortion in single switch three phase discontinuous conduction mode boost converter is presented. In the proposed method, periodic six harmonic voltage is injected in the control circuit to vary the duty ratio of the converter switch within a line cycle so that the fifth order harmonic of the input current is reduced. Experimental results are verified by converter operating at 400V/6kW with three phase 140V~220V input.
A new ZVS-CV PWM converter with power factor correction (PFC) function is presented in this paper. The new topology is a integration of a boost converter and a ZVS-CV topology in a single power conversion stage. The new converter can be regulated in pulse-width modulation (PWM) by universal integrated control circuits. Some design considerations are given in detail. A laboratory prototype has been implemented to show the feasibility of the approach and the analysis.
This paper presents novel single-phase PWM AC-AC converters that can solve commutation problem in single-phase direct AC-AC converter without sensing input voltage polarity. By using the basic switching cell concept and coupled inductor, the proposed converter can be short and open-circuit without damping switching devices. A 120 W prototype is built and tested to verify performance of the proposed converter.

This paper proposes a new PWM cycloconverter which can step up input voltage. With input reactors ac power supply acts as current source, and with output capacitors the balanced output voltage is build-up. The converter is modeled with fourth order state equation using dq transformation and the steady state characteristics are evaluated. It is shown that the proposed converter can generate the output voltage 2-5 times greater than input voltage. The output voltage and input current have sinusoidal and smooth waveforms and the converter is capable of voltage build-up. The characteristics of the proposed converter is verified simulation and experiment.
This paper presents a PWM buck AC-AC converter with instantaneous compensation for input voltage sag and surge. The presented converter use commercial IGBT modules and its output voltage is regulated so as to remain constant AC output voltage. The feedforward control technique is also proposed to establish instantaneous duty level change whereby stable output voltage will be retained. This paper show the characteristics and control algorithm of the converter through various PSPICE simulations.
In this paper, three kinds of PWM strategies for a three-phase current-fed dc/dc converter are proposed and compared in terms of losses and voltage transfer ratio. Each PWM strategy is described graphically and their switching losses are analyzed. With the proposed PWM C strategy, one turn-off switching of each bridge switch is eliminated to reduce switching losses under the same switching frequency. In addition, RMS current through the bridge switches is lowered by using parallel connection between two bridge switches and thus, conduction losses of the switches are reduced. Further, copper losses of the transformer are decreased due to the reduced RMS current of each transformer's winding. Therefore, total losses are minimized and the efficiency of the converter is improved by using the proposed PWM C strategy. Digital signal processor (DSP: TI320LF2407) and a field-programmable gate array (FPGA: EPM7128) board are used to generate PWM patterns for three-phase bridge and clamp MOSFETs. A 500W prototype converter is built and its experimental results verify the validity of the proposed PWM strategies.

This paper presents an improved phase-shift pulse-width modulation (PWM) full-bridge converter using a blocking capacitor. As the proposed converter reduces the circulation energy by inserting only one series blocking capacitor at the primary side of the conventional phase-shift PWM full-bridge converter structure, it improves the operation characteristics of the conventional converter. In this paper, first, the operation of conventional phase-shift PWM full-bridge converter is roughly reviewed, and then the operational principle of the proposed converter is classified and explained by each mode. After that, a prototype design example based on the operational principle is shown. Then, the improved operation characteristics of the proposed converter are actually verified through the experimental results.
This paper presents a new interleaved pulse-width modulation (PWM) boost-flyback converter to achieve power factor correction (PFC) and regulate DC bus voltage. The adopted boost-flyback converter has a high voltage conversion ratio to overcome the limit of conventional boost or buck-boost converter with narrow turn-off period. The proposed converter has wide turn-off period compared with a conventional boost converter. Thus, the higher output voltage can be achieved in the proposed converter. The interleaved PWM can further reduce the input and output ripple currents such that the sizes of inductor and capacitor are reduced. Since boundary conduction mode (BCM) is adopted to achieve power factor correction, power switches are turned on at zero current switching (ZCS) and switching losses are reduced. The circuit configuration, principle operation, system analysis, and design consideration of the proposed converter are presented in detail. Finally, experiments conducted on a laboratory prototype rated at 500W were presented to verify the effectiveness of the converter.
