An Anti-Boundary Switching Digital Delay-Locked Loop (안티-바운드리 스위칭 디지털 지연고정루프)

  • In this paper, we propose a new digital delay-locked loop (DLL) for high-speed DDR3/DDR4 SDRAMs. The proposed digital DLL adopts a fine delay line using phase interpolation to eliminate the jitter increase problem due to the boundary switching problem. In addition, the proposed digital DLL utilizes a new gradual search algorithm to eliminate the harmonic lock problem. The proposed digital DLL is designed with a 1.1 V, 38-nm CMOS DRAM process and has a frequency operating range of 0.25-2.0 GHz. It has a peak-to-peak jitter of 1.1 ps at 2.0 GHz and has a power consumption of about 13 mW.

  • IEEE 802.16은 BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) 시스템의 표준으로 현재 많은 연구와 함께 상용 제품에 대한 연구가 진행중인 분야이다. IEEE 802.16에서는 QoS를 제공하기 위하여 BS (Base Station)와 SS(Subscriber Station)간의 QoS 협상 과정을 정의하고 있으며, BS 및 SS에서의 효율적인 QoS 보장을 위해 4가지의 서비스 클래스를 정의하고 있다. 이러한 서비스 클래스는 UGS, rtPS, nrtPS, 그리고 BE 이다. 하지만 표준에서는 이러한 서비스 클래스를 어떻게 이용할 것인지에 대한 언급이 없으며, 이에 따라 효율적인 packet scheduling에 관한 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 기존의 연구에서는 주로 BS에서의 효율적인 Scheduling에 초점을 맞추어 연구가 진행되었으며, SS에서의 Scheduling에 대한 연구는 거의 되어 있지 않다. 하지만 BS에서 SS에게 대역폭을 할당할 때 GPSS (Grants per subscriber station) mode로 대역폭을 할당한다면 SS에서는 할당 받은 대역폭을 효율적으로 사용하기 위하여 scheduling이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 SS에서의 scheduling architecture를 제안하고자 한다. 제안하는 scheduling architecture는 기존의 scheduling algorithm과는 달리 각 서비스 클래스에 대해서 효과적인 scheduling이 가능하도록 함으로써 시스템의 성능을 높이는데 기여할 것이다.

A Fast-Locking All-Digital Frequency Multiplier (고속-락킹 디지털 주파수 증배기)

  • A fast-lock multiplying delay-locked loop (MDLL)-based digital clock frequency multiplier with an anti-harmonic lock capability is presented. The proposed digital frequency multiplier utilizes a new most-significant bit (MSB)-interval search algorithm to achieve fast-locking time without harmonic lock problems. The proposed digital MDLL frequency multiplier is designed in a 65nm CMOS process, and the operating output frequency range is from 1 GHz to 3 GHz. The digital MDLL provides a programmable fractional-ratio frequency multiplication ratios of N/M, where N = 1, 4, 5, 8, 10 and M = 1, 2, 3, respectively. The proposed MDLL consumes 3.52 mW at 1GHz and achieves a peak-to-peak (p-p) output clock jitter of 14.07 ps.

An Optimized Design of RS(23,17) Decoder for UWB (UWB 시스템을 위한 RS(23,17) 복호기 최적 설계)

  • In this paper, we present an optimized design of RS(23,17) decoder for UWB, which uses the pipeline structured-modified Euclidean(PS-ME) algorithm. Firstly, the modified processing element(PE) block is presented in order to get rid of degree comparison circuits, registers and MUX at the final PE stage. Also, a degree computationless decoding algorithm is proposed, so that the hardware complexity of the decoder can be reduced and high-speed decoder can be implemented. Additionally, we optimize Chien search algorithm, Forney algorithm, and FIFO size for UWB specification. Using Verilog HDL, the proposed decoder is implemented and synthesized with Samsung 65nm library. From synthesis results, it can operate at clock frequency of 250MHz, and gate count is 17,628.

  • Reinforcement learning if a kind of machine learning. It aims to adapt an agent to a given environment with a clue to a reward and a penalty. Q-learning [8] that is a representative reinforcement learning system treats a reward and a penalty at the same time. There is a problem how to decide an appropriate reward and penalty values. We know the Penalty Avoiding Rational Policy Making algorithm (PARP) [4] and the Penalty Avoiding Profit Sharing (PAPS) [2] as reinforcement learning systems to treat a reward and a penalty independently. though PAPS is a descendant algorithm of PARP, both PARP and PAPS tend to learn a local optimal policy. To overcome it, ion this paper, we propose the Multi Best method (MB) that is PAPS with the multi-start method[5]. MB selects the best policy in several policies that are learned by PAPS agents. By applying PS, PAPS and MB to a soccer game environment based on the SoccerBots[9], we show that MB is the best solution for the soccer game environment.

  • In this paper we propose an efficient offset curve generation algorithm for open and closed 2D point sequence curve(PS curve) with line segments in the plane. One of the most difficult problems of offset generation is the loop intersection problem caused by the interference of offset curve segments. We propose an algorithm which removes global as well as local intersection loop without making an intermediate offset curve by forward tracing of tangential circle. Experiment in computer sewing machine shows that proposed method is very useful and simple.

  • In this paper, a robust $H_{\infty}$ optimal design problem under a structure-specified PSS is investigated for power systems with parameter variation and disturbance uncertainties. Immune algorithm is employed for optimization method of PSS parameter. It is shown that the proposed $H_{\infty}$-PSS tuned using immune algorithm is more robust than conventional PSS.

Heart Sound Recognition by Analysis of wavelet transform and Neural network.

  • This paper presents the application of the wavelet transform analysis and the neural network method to the phonocardiogram (PCG) signal. Heart sound is a acoustic signal generated by cardiac valves, myocardium and blood flow and is a very complex and nonstationary signal composed of many source. Heart sound can be discriminated normal heart sound and heart murmur. Murmurs have broader frequency bandwidth than the normal ones and can occur at random position of cardiac cycle. In this paper, we classified the group of heart sound as normal heart sound(NO), pre-systolic murmur(PS), early systolic murmur(ES), late systolic murmur(LS), early diastolic murmur(ED). And we used the wavelet transform to shorten artifacts and strengthen the low level signal. The ANN system was trained and tested with the back- propagation algorithm from a large data set of examples-normal and abnormal signals classified by expert. The best ANN configuration occurred with 15 hidden layer neurons. We can get the accuracy of 85.6% by using the proposed algorithm.

Bidirectional Link Resource Allocation Strategy in GFDM-based Multiuser SWIPT Systems

  • In order to enhance system energy efficiency, bidirectional link resource allocation strategy in GFDM-based multiuser SWIPT systems is proposed. In the downlink channel, each SWIPT user applies power splitting (PS) receiver structure in information decoding (ID) and non-linear energy harvesting (EH). In the uplink channel, information transmission power is originated from the harvested energy. An optimization problem is constructed to maximize weighted sum ID achievable rates in the downlink and uplink channels via bidirectional link power allocation as well as subcarriers and subsymbols scheduling. To solve this non-convex optimization problem, Lagrange duality method, sub-gradient-based method and greedy algorithm are adopted respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed strategy is superior to the fixed subcarrier scheme regardless of the weighting coefficients. It is superior to the heuristic algorithm in larger weighting coefficients scenario.
