The Study On Developing Low Power PLC Modem based on Stand-by Mode Function (저전력 대기모드를 지원하는 전력선통신 모뎀 개발에 관한 연구)

  • 최근 홈 네트워킹 기술과 연동된 가전제어 및 서비스에 대한니즈가 증대�� 있어 다양한 디지털 가전기기가 개발되고 있다. 특히 국내외적으로 많은 홈 네트워크 관련 제품들이 생산되고 있으며 이는 궁극적으로 이기종 네트워크 환경에서 유무선 통신의 구된 없이 다양한 기기를 네트워크에 접속할 수 있는 서비스를 제공한다. 기존 중 저속 전력선 모뎀의 경우 홈 네트워크에서 전력선으로 들어오는 신호를 수신하기 위해 전력소모가 가장 많은 Main Processor에서는 항상 Wake-On 상태를 유지하고 있다. 하지만 중 저속 전력선 모뎀의 송수신을 관장하는 Main Processor를 보게 되면 크게 통신 프로토콜을 관장하는 Main CPU와 실제 전력선 신호 송수신을 관장하는 PLC Core로 나뉠 수 있다. 홈네트워크상에 전력선으로 들어오는 신호를 수신하기 위해서는 PLC Core는 항상 Wake-On 상태를 유지해야 하지만 Main CPU의 경우는 전력소모를 최소화하기 위해 Idle 상태를 유지하더라도 Host Controller와의 Stand-by & Wake On 신호와 인터럽트 발생기능을 이용하게 되면 전력선 통신에 문제가 없이 대기모드를 지원하는 저전력 전력선 통신 모뎀 개발이 가능하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 저전력 대기모드를 지원하는 전력선 통신 모뎀 개발에 관한 연구를 하고자 한다.

  • This paper introduces a supplementary module reducing tile standby-power of Power Line Communication(PLC) modem, one of the network equipments that take up much of tile stand-by power. This supplementary module consists of three parts, such as a compare part, a control part, and a switch part. This supplementary module controls the power going from the power supply element into PLC modem, which brings about the effect of standby-power reduction. It is assured that over 30% standby-power reduction is estimated when we applied this module to a low-speedy PLC control modem.

  • In this paper, Zigbee/PLC gateway system is designed for Ubiquitous health care. A protocol conversion algorithm for smooth information exchange between Zigbee and PLC communication has been implemented on the gatway. If a moving object is detected by wireless sensor, the data is transmitted to gateway. Zigbee/PLC gateway analyzes received data and transmits to Power Line Communication for real-time monitoring. Implemented system is can support elder who lives alone activity analysis, crime prevention system, Home network service.

  • This paper represents a dual-mode type transmission technique for a high reliable narrow-band power line communication(PLC) modem, and its design and implementation of a system-on-chip(SoC). The proposed transmission technique is based on a Chirp modulation for the purpose of overcoming time variations of power line channel environments in the narrow-bandwidth of the frequency range of 95-145.5 kHz. The designed modem is fabricated utilizing a mixed 0.18 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. Especially, according to the power line channel environments the data transmission rate can be selectively changed into 2.5 kbps and 480 bps. The total hardware complexity of the implemented chip is about 50,000 gates, the power consumption is about 26mW, and the operating frequency is up to 5.12 MHz.

  • Zigbee Alliance에서 표준화 진행 중인 Zigbee Stack을 가진 Zigbee 시스템은 통신매체로 RF(Radio Frequency)를 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 RF를 사용하는 기존의 Zigbee 시스템이 신호감쇄 문제나 주파수 공유로 인한 간섭문제 등에 약한 점을 고려하여 유선통신 매체로서 Power Line을 사용하는 PLC 시스템과의 인터페이스를 제안한다. 제안된 시스템은 Zigbee 시스템과 PLC 시스템간에 UART 인터페이스를 가능하게 함으로써 Zigbee 네트워크의 한계를 극복할 수 있으며 Zigbee 시스템의 적용 범위 및 성능 향상을 기대할 수 있다.

  • This paper describes the measurement and analysis of the basic line constants in PLC(Power Line Communication) in the residential building. An apartment is considered as one of the conventional residences to get the line constants in this paper and Agilent 4263B LCR Meter is used to measure the detailed values each area and the specific results and the averaged analysis data are shown in the tables. The measured results no different from the calculated values with using conventional formula due to the line arrangement neglected factors, complex permittivity, and etc. Also, this paper describes many kinds of lines and wiring figures of domestic construction. Finally, it is utilized with the analyzed line characteristics in frequency domain as a planning reference of PLC.

  • Powerline communication is the data signal which is modulated by carrier frequency through the installed powerline at in-home or office is transmitted and received signals are separated into data signal with using band-pass filter which cent-frequency is carrier frequency. The home gateway, an equipment which works as an gateway for ubiquitous home network, relays all functions of a home network. The home gateway must always be connected in order to provide seamless services. However it gives unfavorable power consumption. Therefore the needs for working in maximum power saving mode while there is no data traffic and for invoking to the normal function when it is necessary. So, in this paper we survey the development of low power PLC modem monitoring of power consumption and breaking abnormal power in the home Network.

  • This paper investigates the network throughput of PLC (Power Line Communication) system in the in-building network. The OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation format and adaptive bit loading algorithm is used to minimize the effect of signal loss and noise on transmission performance in the power line channel characterized by frequency selective fading. The network throughput of the PLC system which consists of gateway and CPE(Customer Premise Equipment) PLC modem in the in-building network is measured by network performance measurement tool, iperf and analyzed according to the TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) window size.

  • In this paper, the development of Power Line Communication(PLC) device for white goods is presented. The commercial PLC chip-set is used for the modem device of white goods. As a PLC device for white goods, an ARM720 u-controller and a windows CE 3.0 are adopted. UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) that is applied for home network middle ware in implemented system. In addition, application programming and emulator for home appliance are implemented using UPnP standard ver 1.0.

  • 본 논문에서는 최근 부각되고 있는 고속전력선 통신 해외 기술개발 동향을 조사 분석하였다. 전력선 통신 모뎀 칩�V 개발은 국내업체를 비롯하여 미국, 유럽, 일본을 중심으로 활발히 진행되어 현재 표준화와 함께 상품화가 활발히 진행중이다. 미국의 Homeplug, 유럽의 PLC forum 그리고 일본의 Echonet을 중심으로 표준화가 진행되고 있으며 각 단체의 리딩컴퍼니를 중심으로 칩�V의 상품화가 완료단계에 있다. 본 논문에서는 현재 해외의 표준화단체와 전력선통신 모뎀 칩�V 개발업체의 활동과 기술개발동향을 조사 분석하였다. 또한 CEBIT 2002에 출품된 제품을 중심으로 상품화 정도를 분석하고 시장동향과 앞으로의 기술개발 동향을 예측하였다.
