A salt compound of a curcumin analogue, potassium pentagamavunon-0 (K PGV-0) has been synthesized to improve solubility of pentagamavunon-0 which has been proven to have anti-proliferative effects on several cancer cells. The purpose of this study was to investigate cytotoxic activity and metastasis inhibition by K PGV-0 alone and in combination with achemotherapeutic agent, doxorubicin (dox), in breast cancer cells. Based on MTT assay analysis, K PGV-0 showed cytotoxic activity in T47D and 4T1 cell lines with $IC_{50}$ values of $94.9{\mu}M$ and $49.0{\pm}0.2{\mu}M$, respectively. In general, K PGV-0+dox demonstrated synergistic effects and decreased cell viability up to 84.7% in T47D cells and 62.6% in 4T1 cells. Cell cycle modulation and apoptosis induction were examined by flow cytometry. K PGV-0 and K PGV-0+dox caused cell accumulation in G2/M phase and apoptosis induction. Regarding cancer metastasis, while K PGV-0 alone did not show any inhibition of 4T1 cell migration, K PGV-0+dox exerted inhibition. K PGV-0 and its combination with dox inhibited the activity of MMP-9 which has a pivotal role in extracellular matrix degradation. These results show that a combination of K PGV-0 and doxorubicin inhibits cancer cell growth through cell cycling, apoptosis induction, and inhibition of cell migration and MMP-9 activity. Therefore, K PGV-0 may have potential for development as a co-chemotherapeutic agent.
Chemoresistance of breast cancer to doxorubicin is mediated mainly through activation of NF-kB and over expression of HER2. Curcumin and its analogues (PGV-0 and PGV-1) exert cytotoxic effects on T47D breast cancer cells. Suppression of NF-kB activation is suggested to contribute to this activity. The present study aimed to explore the effects of curcumin, PGV-0, and PGV-1 singly and in combination with doxorubicin on MCF-7/Dox cells featuring over-expression of HER2. In MTT assays, curcumin, PGV-0, and PGV-1 showed cytotoxicity effects against MCF-7/Dox with IC50 values of $80{\mu}M$, $21{\mu}M$, and $82{\mu}M$ respectively. These compounds increased MCF-7/Dox sensitivity to doxorubicin. Cell cycle distribution analysis exhibited that the combination of curcumin and its analogues with Dox increased sub G-1 cell populations. Curcumin and PGV-1 but not PGV-0 decreased localization of p65 into the nucleus induced by Dox, indicating that activation of NF-kB was inhibited. Molecular docking of curcumin, PGV-0, and PGV-1 demonstrated high affinity to HER2 at ATP binding site. This interaction were directly comparable with those of ATP and lapatinib. These findings suggested that curcumin, PGV-0 and PGV-1 enhance the Dox cytotoxicity to MCF-7 cells through inhibition of HER2 activity and NF-kB activation.
Purpose: This study aims to derive a predictive empirical equation for PGV prediction from P-wave using earthquake records in Korea and to verify the reliability of Onsite EEW. Method: The noise of P wave is removed from the observations of 627 seismic events in Korea to derive an empirical equation with PGV on the base rock, and reliability of Onsite alarms is verified from comparing PGV's predictions and observations through simulation using the empirical equation. Result: P-waves were extracted using the Filter Picker from earthquake observation records that eliminated noises, a linear regression with PGV was used to derive a predictive empirical equation for Onsite EEW. Through the on-site warning simulation we could get a success rate of 80% within the MMI±1 error range above MMI IV or higher. Conclusion: Through this study, the design feasibility and performance of Onsite EEWS using domestic earthquake records were verified. In order to increase validity, additional medium-sized seismic observations from abroad are required, the mis-detection of P waves is controlled, and the effect of seismic amplification on the surface is required.

Purpose: This study aims to derive a PGV prediction equation and to enhance the application of the Onsite EEW technology which has developed through previous studies. Method: The prediction equation for the Onsite EEW derived from earthquake data M≥3.0 and MMI≥II over the past four years. Local seismic risk is estimated using M and PGV deduced from P wave properties. Result: The improved PGV prediction equation estimated the MMI with an average accuracy of 94.8% and the 𝜏c : Pd method also showed valid performance for alerting local seismic risks. Conclusion: Onsite EEW technology is successfully applied to Korea, and becomes to reduce the blind zone to about 14km.
PGV(Plasma Gasification & Vitrification) system has been developed based on a pyrolysis melting gasification technology that provides the possibilities of acquiring renewable energy. As volume of wastes increases with the rapid industrialization and population growth, eco friendly disposal is drawing more social attention. Pyrolysis plasma technology is regarded as the best environmentally friendly process for the waste disposal among numerous waste disposal processes. Introduced in this paper is the behavior of the plasma torch and a computational fluid simulation dynamics is discussed for designing the melting furnace. Some PGV applications have also been discussed.
Purpose: This study aims to design and verify an onsite EEWS that extracts the P-wave from a single seismic station and deduce the PGV. Method: The P-wave properties of Pd, Pv, and Pa were calculated by using 12 seismic waveform data extracted from historic seismic records in Korea, and the PGVs were computed using empirical equation on the P properties - PGV relationship and compared with the observed values. Results: Comparison of the observed and estimated PGVs within the alarm level shows the error rate of 86.7% as minimum. By reducing the PTW to 2 seconds, the alarm time can be shortened by 1 second and the seismic blind zone near the epicenter can be shortened by 6 Km. Conclusion: Through this study, we confirmed the availability of the on-site EEWS in Korea. For practical use, it is necessary to develop regression formula and algorithm reflect local effect in Korea by increasing the number of seismic waveform data through continuous observation, and to eliminate the noise from the site.

The block cipher Zorro is designed to reduce the implementation cost for side-channel countermeasure. It has a structure similar to AES, but the number of S-Boxes used is small. However, since the master key is used as the round key, it can be vulnerable to related key attacks. In this paper, we show key recovery attacks on Zorro using related-key differential characteristics. In addition, the related key differential characteristics are fatal when Zorro is used as the base block cipher of the hash function. In this paper, we describe how these characteristics can be linked to collision attacks in the PGV models.

A high frequency level of Fourier amplitude relates with stress drop and seismic moment. When we can not use this relation owing to absence of digital earthquake data, stress drop and seismic moment can be determined from Peak Ground Velocity(PGV) and felt area. We have qualitatively evaluated the seismic characteristics using PGV, and Magnitude from the well determined felt area in seismological records of Korea(1978~2001) by Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA). Observed relations between felt area and magnitude in the Korean Peninsula are explained by attenuation(Q), and stress drops comparing with the previous researches on stress parameter. This results are preliminary work for the study of stress parameter using the relationship of high frequency lavel, PGV, and felt area.
Degenerate primers corresponding to the sequences of the N-terminal regions of Mn-peroxidase isozymes were used to isolate the genomic fragments encoding the isozymes of Mn-peroxidase, CVMP1, CVMP2, CVMP3 and CVMP5 from the white-rot fungus Trametes versicolor KN9522. Three isozymes except one gave the expected PCR products (cmp1, cmp2 and cmp5) of about 900 base pairs, respectively. DNA sequence data obtained from each PCR products were used to analyze the BLAST program search on the National Center for Biotechnology Information. cmp1, cmp2 and cmp5 were similar to MPG-I (GenBank accession number Z30668) and PGV-II (GenBank accession number, Z54279) gene T. versicolor PRL572. PCR products of cmp1 and cmp2 showed 77%, 95% base sequence similarities to MPG-I gene and cmp5 showed about 88% similarity to PGV-II gene from T. versicolor PRL572. From this experiment, we could isolate genomic DNA fragments with degenerate primers designed from the N-terminal amino acid sequences of Mn-peroxidase isozyme family.
This paper is focused on the spatial variability of measured strong motion data during earthquake and its relationship with the performance of water distribution pipelines and residential buildings. Analyses of strong motion and the correlations of peak ground velocity (PGV) and pipeline and building damage were conducted with a very large geographical information system (GIS) database including the relationship of time and earthquake intensity and the measured location, and Kriging spatial statistics. Kriging was used to develop regressions of pipeline repair rate (RR) and residential building damage ratio (DR) associated with $90\%$ confidence peak ground velocity (PGV). Such regressions using Kriging provide an explicit means of characterizing the uncertainty embodied in the strong motion data compared with other spacial statistics such as inverse distance method.
