토양수분(土壤水分)이 Populus alba × P. glandulosa 및 교배양친수(交配兩親樹)의 삽목발근(揷木發根)과 생장(生長)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Soil Moisture Content Affecting Rooting of Cutting and Height Growth of Populus alba × P. glandulosa and Parents)

  • P. alba ${\times}$ P. glandulosa 및 P. glandulosa의 삽목발근(揷木發根)과 생장(生長)에 가장 적합한 Soil water potential (${\Psi}_s$)은 -0.05 bars이었고, 토양수분(土壤水分)이 적합할 때는 생장(生長)이 양호(良好)하였으나 ${\Psi}_s$=-0.5bars 이하(以下)에서는 모두 불량(不良)한 생장(生長)을 하였고 수종간(樹種間)에 큰 차(差)가 없었다. 특(特)히 P. alba ${\times}$ P. glandulosa는 토양수분(土壤水分)이 충분할 때는 생장(生長)에 대한 잡종강세(雜種强勢)의 현상(現象)이 나타났으나 토양수분(土壤水分)이 부족할 때는 이러한 현상이 나타나지 않았다. 일반적으로 aspen은 삽목발근(揷木發根)이 전연(全然) 안되는데 반하여 P. glandulosa는 삽목발근율(揷木發根率)이 낮기는 하지만 23%나 되는 것은 P. alba의 삽목발근인자(揷木發根因子)가 유인(流人)된 것으로 간주된다. 그리고 P. glandulosa는 외부형태적(外部形態的)으로 사시나무와 은백양의 잡종으로 간주하고 있다. 또한 생장(生長)도 은백양과 사시나무의 중간 정도이며 토양수분(土壤水分)에 대한 생장(生長)의 민감도는 은백양과 비슷한 현상을 나타내고 있다. 이러한 사실은 P. glandulosa가 은백양과 사시나무의 자연잡종임을 뒷받침 해주고 있다.

Molecular docking of bioactive compounds derived from Moringa oleifera with p53 protein in the apoptosis pathway of oral squamous cell carcinoma

  • Moringa oleifera is nowadays raising as the most preferred medicinal plant, as every part of the moringa plant has potential bioactive compounds which can be used as herbal medicines. Some bioactive compounds of M. oleifera possess potential anti-cancer properties which interact with the apoptosis protein p53 in cancer cell lines of oral squamous cell carcinoma. This research work focuses on the interaction among the selected bioactive compounds derived from M. oleifera with targeted apoptosis protein p53 from the apoptosis pathway to check whether the bioactive compound will induce apoptosis after the mutation in p53. To check the toxicity and drug-likeness of the selected bioactive compound derived from M. oleifera based on Lipinski's Rule of Five. Detailed analysis of the 3D structure of apoptosis protein p53. To analyze protein's active site by CASTp 3.0 server. Molecular docking and binding affinity were analyzed between protein p53 with selected bioactive compounds in order to find the most potential inhibitor against the target. This study shows the docking between the potential bioactive compounds with targeted apoptosis protein p53. Quercetin was the most potential bioactive compound whereas kaempferol shows poor affinity towards the targeted p53 protein in the apoptosis pathway. Thus, the objective of this research can provide an insight prediction towards M. oleifera derived bioactive compounds and target apoptosis protein p53 in the structural analysis for compound isolation and in-vivo experiments on the cancer cell line.

토끼 Coronary Sinus에서의 안정막 전압에 관한 연구 (Ionic Basis of Resting Membrane Potential in the Coronary Sinus Cells of the Rabbit)

  • Membrane potential of cells in the isolated rabbit coronary sinus was measured by conventional glass microelectrode and investigated the effect of $[K^+]_0$ variation in control, 20 mM and Ach-containing Tyrode solution. The results obtained were as follows: 1) The resting membrane potential exposed to normal Tyrode solution containing 3 mM $K^+\;was\;about\;-60{\sim}\;-65mV$. At extracellular $K^+$ concentrations from 1 to 30 mM the resting Potential was reasonably well described by Goldman -Hodgkin -Katz equation on the assumption that $[K^+]_1$ was 150 mM and that the ratio of membrane permeability coefficient for $Na^+\;and\;K^+,\;P_{Na}/P_K\;({\alpha})$ was 0.07. 2) In 20 mM Na-Tyrode solution (replacing by equimolar Tris) the resting membrane potential was hyperpolarized by 15 to 20 mV and showed slightly deviated to depolarized direction compared to the predicted value by Goldman-Hodgkin -Katz equation. 3) In the presence of $10^{-6}M$ Ach, the resting potentials at $[K^+]_0$ levels from 1 to 30 mM were well fitted with the predicted value on the assumption that $P_{Na}/P_K$ was 0.0144. It could be concluded that the low resting membrane potential of coronary sinus cells reflects a relatively high ratio $P_{Na}/P_K$ of about 0.07.

  • This paper experimentally deals with the excitation by functional electrical stimulus(FES) and the response of electromyo-potential at the muscles of antebrachial joint in a human body. The excitation of FES, which results in the contraction of the muscles and thus the flection of the joint, shows that the flection angle of the joint is proportional to the magnitude of the stimulus current. The response of electromyo-potential measured according to the FES shows the linearly-proportional relation between the joint torque and the electromyo-potential. The results can be used for active motion of joint rehabilitation.

  • We are concerned with the following elliptic equations: $$(-{\Delta})^s_pu+V (x){\mid}u{\mid}^{p-2}u={\lambda}g(x,u){\text{ in }}{\mathbb{R}}^N$$, where $(-{\Delta})_p^s$ is the fractional p-Laplacian operator with 0 < s < 1 < p < $+{\infty}$, sp < N, the potential function $V:{\mathbb{R}}^N{\rightarrow}(0,{\infty})$ is a continuous potential function, and $g:{\mathbb{R}}^N{\times}{\mathbb{R}}{\rightarrow}{\mathbb{R}}$ satisfies a $Carath{\acute{e}}odory$ condition. We show the existence of at least one weak solution for the problem above without the Ambrosetti and Rabinowitz condition. Moreover, we give a positive interval of the parameter ${\lambda}$ for which the problem admits at least one nontrivial weak solution when the nonlinearity g has the subcritical growth condition.

석면함유 건축물의 관찰조사를 통한 실내공기 중 섬유 농도 변화 요인 추정 (Estimation of Factors Influencing Airborne Fiber Concentrations through an Observation Survey of Asbestos-containing Materials in Buildings)

  • Objectives: The objective of this study is the estimation of factors influencing airborne fiber concentrations by means of an observation survey of asbestos-containing materials in buildings. Methods: Forty-five samples were collected from four commercial buildings by NIOSH Method 7400 and classified according to current condition, potential activity, construction year, and operations and maintenance(O&M). Results: Airborne fiber concentrations by current condition(classified as good, fair and poor) were significantly different(p<0.05). Concentrations by potential activity were significantly different among groups(p<0.05), and those from the low activity group were higher than those from the middle activity group. Based on construction year, airborne fiber concentrations from the decade of the 1990's were higher than those from the 1960's. When O&M status was considered, airborne fiber concentrations from 1960's buildings were lower than those buildings not operated and maintained(p<0.01), because dust generation was influenced by O&M status. It was found that airborne fiber concentrations were related to current condition and potential activity via regression analysis, but the coefficient of determination was low. Also, correlation analysis showed that the higher the potential activity, the more current condition is worsened, but the relationship was not significant(r=-0.455, p>0.05). Conclusions: Airborne fiber concentrations in asbestos-containing buildings had weak relationships with current condition and potential activity.

수계에서 제타전위를 이용한 이산화티탄의 분산특성에 대한 평가 (The Evaluation for Characteristics of Titanium Dioxide Dispersion in Aqeous Medium by Zeta Potential)

  • 제타전위를 이용하여 이산화티탄의 분산 안정성을 평가하고 이를 통하여 분산안정도 향상에 응용하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 제타전위와 관련된 전기이중층, 전기영동, 등전점 및 전기 침투에 대하여 설명하였으며 측정이론을 기술하였다. H-S equation을 이용하여 수계에 분산된 미립자 이산화티탄의 pH변화에 따른 제타전위 변화를 측정하였으며 제타전위는 pH $3.0{\sim}9.0$에서 음의 값으로 측정되었다. 제타전위 값은 pH값 상승에 따라 절대값이 증가하였으며 분산액의 pH 8.0과 9.0에서는 지속적으로 분산이 유지되었다. 이를 통하여 제타전위가 이산화티탄의 분산에 영향을 미치며 제타전위의 절대값 크기가 수계에서 이산화티탄의 분산안정도에 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 생각된다.

COMPLETELY INTEGRABLE COUPLED POTENTIAL KDV EQUATIONS

  • We make use of the simplified Hirota's bilinear method with computer symbolic computation to study a variety of coupled potential KdV (pKdV) equations. Each coupled equation is completely integrable and gives multiple soliton solutions and multiple singular soliton solutions. The phase shifts for all coupled pKdV equations are identical whereas the coefficients of the obtained solitons are not identical. The four coupled pKdV equations are resonance free.

철염 응집제 중 유독성 중금속의 선택적 제거 (Selective Removal of Toxic Heavy Metals in Fe-Coagulants)

  • Among various reactions which metal sulfides can undergo in the reducing environment, the lattice exchange reaction was examined in a attempt to selectively remove heavy metal ions contained in the Fe-Coagulants acid solution. We have examined Zeta potential along with pHs to investigate surface characteristics of ${FeS}_{(s)}$. As a result of this experiment, zero point charge(ZPC) of FeS is pH 7 and zeta potential which resulted from solid solution reaction between Pb(II) and ${FeS}_{(s)}$ is similar to that of ${PbS}_{(s)}$. Solubility characteristics of ${FeS}_{(s)}$ is appeared to that dissolved Fe(II) concentration increased in less than pH 4, and also increased with increasing heavy metal concentration. Various heavy metal ions(Pb(II), Cu(II), Zn(II)) contained in Fe-coagulants acid solution were removed selectively more than ninety-five percent in the rang of pH 2.5~10 by ${FeS}_{(s)}$. From the above experiments, therefore, We could know that the products of reaction between heavy metal ions and $FeS_{(S)}$ are mental sulfide such as $PbS_{(S)}$, $CuS_{(S)}$ and $ZnS_{(S)}$.

Effects of Electric Current and Potential on the Electrokinetic Removal of Heavy Metals from an Abandoned Mine Tailings

  • In the removal of heavy metals from the mine deposit using electrokinetic processes, the effects of operation under both constant current and constant potential conditions were estimated. The results of soil pH distributions for DDW-20 V and DDW-100 mA cases after the electrokinetic remediation tests were observed. In the former case, soil pH was not much changed and kept to almost constant value just little higher than initial soil pH of 3.52, except near the cathode, which was about pH 5. While in the latter case, soil pHs of anode and the cathode regions were less than pH 3 and about 6, respectively. The electroosmotic flow to the cathode increased rapidly till 10 hrs and decreased steadily and then maintained to constant rate until the end of operation at constant current condition. Electric potential gradient was continuously increased to as much as 34.375 V/cm. At the steady state, values of the apparent electric conductivity for DDW-20 V and DDW-100 mA were around 40 ${\mu}\textrm{s}$/cm and 30 ${\mu}\textrm{s}$/cm, respectively. In the DDW-100mA test, Cu, Cd, and Zn except Pb showed the tendency of moving toward the cathode. While in the DDW-20 V case, it was observed that Cu, Zn, and Pb except Cd were not moved to any directions. The results of the tests demonstrated that the electrokinetic soil remediation process could be operated better under constant current condition than constant electric potential condition.
