For reporting national greenhouse gas inventory in forest sector, the forest growing stock from the National Forest Inventory (NFI) system has used as activity data sources. The National Forest Inventory system was changed from rotation system by province to annual system by 5 years across the country. The forest growing stocks based on the new inventory system produced a different trend compared to the previous estimations. This study was implemented to recalculate previous forest growing stocks for time series consistency at a national level. The recalculation of forest growing stock was conducted in an overlap approach by the IPCC guideline. In order to support the more consistency data, we used calibration factors between applied stand volumes in 1985 and 2012, respectively. As a result, the time series of recalculated forest growing stock was to be consistency using the overlap approach and the calibration factor with the lower middle/middle site index. According to the applied overlap period, however, we will recalculate activity data using more complete data from national forest inventory system.

In this research, a sample was selected from a public library in Paju city, which operates a regional collaborative library system. They collected data on materials, usage, and acquisition. An analysis of book collection data and usage data was also conducted in order to evaluate the correlation between the usage and acquisition by comparing overlap of purchased materials. As a result, circulations and the interlibrary loan (ILL) borrowing requests were differentiated by topics according to targeted materials, and that these characteristics affect the overlap of purchased materials. The study suggested that public libraries in the region collaborative library system need to consider the paradigm of collection and access when purchasing books.
The time-consuming and high-cost preparation of soluble peptide-major histocompatibility complexes (pMHC) currently limits their wide uses in monitoring antigen-specific T cells. The single-chain trimer (SCT) of peptide-${\beta}2m$-MHC class I heavy chain was developed as an alternative strategy, but its gene fusion is hindered in many cases owing to the incompatibility between the multiple restriction enzymes and the restriction endonuclease sites of plasmid vectors. In this study, overlap extension PCR and one-step cloning were adopted to overcome this restriction. The SCT gene of the $OVA_{257-264}$ peptide-$(GS_4)_3-{\beta}2m-(GS_4)_4-H-2K^b$ heavy chain was constructed and inserted into plasmid pET28a by overlap extension PCR and one-step cloning, without the requirement of restriction enzymes. The SCT protein was expressed in Escherichia coli, and then purified and refolded. The resulting $H-2K^b/OVA_{257-264}$ complex showed the correct structural conformation and capability to bind with $OVA_{257-264}$-specific T-cell receptor. The overlap extension PCR and one-step cloning ensure the construction of single-chain MHC class I molecules associated with random epitopes, and will facilitate the preparation of soluble pMHC multimers.

Although several research efforts have been directed to fast-tracking to reduce the total delivery time, few researches have been studied on concurrent engineering in construction projects. The focus of fast-tracking is primarily on overlapping independent activity pairs. In comparison, the focus of concurrent engineering is on overlapping dependent activity pairs. Dependent activities are much harder to overlap successfully. This paper presents a simulation-based Concurrent Engineering methodology to optimize the overall duration of a set of design activities in a project by modelling key factors that determine the duration of individual activities and overlap between dependent activities. This methodology involves determining how much to overlap activities, how to decide which activities to overlap and the corresponding cost and time tradeoffs using a discrete event model solution. This simulation model, therefore, can be used as a reference on decision-making to define optimum point between time and cost.
In this study, we compared the stability of the pillars by using room and pillar mining method with the four models with different stiffness and pillar overlap ratio. The experimental models consist of two plaster models (overlap ratio 0%, 100%) and two cement models(overlap ratio 0%, 100%). The soft and hard rocks are modeled by plaster and cement models respectively. In these experiments, the model materials with strength values reflecting the calculated scaled factors not been used, so it is not a true scaled model test that reproduces in situ state in the laboratory. Experimental results show that the different overlap ratio pillars are one of the factors that can affect the stability of the mine.
Various characteristics of a thin liquid film in its vapor-phase are investigated using the molecular dynamics technique. Local distributions of the temperature, density, normal and tangential pressure components, and stress are calculated for various film thicknesses and temperature levels. Distributions of local stresses change considerably with respect to film thicknesses, and interracial regions on both sides of the film start to overlap with each other as the film becomes thinner. Integration of the local stresses, i.e., the surface tension, however, does not vary much regardless of the interfacial overlap. The minimum thickness of a liquid film before rupturing is estimated with respect to the calculation domain sizes and is compared with a simple theoretical relation.

We consider using ranked set sampling methods to draw inference about the three well-known measures of overlap, namely Matusita's measure $\rho$, Morisita's measure $\lambda$ and Weitzman's measure $\Delta$. Two exponential populations with different means are considered. Due to the difficulties of calculating the precision or the bias of the resulting estimators of overlap measures, because there are no closed-form exact formulas for their variances and their exact sampling distributions, Monte Carlo evaluations are used. Confidence intervals for those measures are also constructed via the bootstrap method and Taylor series approximation.
Overlap errors and side-lobes can be simultaneously solved by the rule-based correction using scattering bars with the rules extracted from test patterns. Process parameters affecting the attPSM lithography simulation have been determined by the fitting method to the process data. Overlap errors have been solved applying the correction rules to the metal patterns overlapped with contact/via. Moreover, the optimal insertion rule of the scattering bars has made it possible to suppress the side-lobes and to get additional pattern fidelity at the same time.
The data of crown width with 4 directions, DBH, tree height, and coordinate for sample trees were collected from 30 permanent sample plots in secondary fore st of the Maoershan Experimental Forestry Farm, Northeast China. In this paper, the competition of individual trees in stand were discussed for secondary forest by using iterative Hegyi competition index and crown overlap index that represented the competitive and cooperative interactions among neighboring trees. Active competitors of subject tree in the competition zone were selected to calculate the iterative competition index. Using the results of crown classification based on the equal crown projection area, a new distance dependent competition index called crown overlap index (COI) was developed for secondary forest. The COI performed well in describing the crown competition rather than crown competition factor (CCF). The individual-based competition index discussed in this paper will provide more precise for developing individual tree growth models for secondary forest and it can also use to adjust the stand structure for spatial optimal management.

In this study, a zero-dimensional two zone model is developed to investigate the effects of valve overlap period and valve lift on combustion and gas exchange process in SI engine. The simulation results show that the predicted data has good agreements with experimental ones. The useful information of combustion and gas exchange process such as residual gas fraction, cylinder pressure, mass flow rate and volumetric efficiency can be obtained and the effects of engine variables on combustion processes and performances can be evaluated.
