Voice coil actuator is used linear motion system that requires precision positioning control. In order to control precision positioning of voice coil actuator, relation model between duty ratio and moving displacement of voice coil actuator is needed. This paper present a duty ratio - displacement model in PWM control of voice coil actuator. Transfer function of voice coil actuator is obtained by combining voice coil motor's equation of motion with the equation of circuit and characteristic of voice coil motor. Consider to initial condition of velocity and current, transfer function is transformed mathematical model. The induced model can predict output displacement, velocity and current according to duty ratio and amplitude. The model is verified by experimental tests such as velocity and displacement response of voice coil motor. Simulated results have tracking errors of less than 10 percent of experimental results.
The purpose of this paper is to improve the hysteresis characteristics of a stack type piezoelectric actuator using system identification and tracking control. Recently, several printing methods that are cost less and faster than previous semiconductor processes have been developed for the production of electric paper and RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification). The system proposed in this study prints by spraying the molten metal. And this system consist of a nozzle, heating furnace, operating actuator and an XYZ 3-axis stage. As an operating system, the piezoelectric(PZT) actuator is a very useful tool for position control of the metal printing system. However, the PZT actuator has a hysteresis nonlinearity due to the ferroelectric characteristics of the PZT element. This hysteresis causes problem position control characteristics in the system and deteriorates the performance of the system. In this study, an investigation was conducted to improve the hysteresis characteristics of the PZT actuator that has an output displacement for the input voltage. In order to reduce the hysteresis nonlinearity of the PZT actuator, this proposed a inverse hysteresis model and a mathematic modeling method that can express the geometric relationship between voltage and displacement. In addition, system identification and PID control methods were examined. Also, it was confirmed that the proposed control strategy gives good tracking performance.

In remote islands PV (Photo Voltaic) panel with BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) supplies electric power to the customers in parallel operation with EG (Engine Generator) to save fuel consumption and to mitigate environmental load. BESS operates in voltage control mode when it supplies power to the load alone, while it operates in current control mode when it supplies power to the load in parallel with EG. This paper proposes a smooth mode change scheme from current control to voltage control of BESS by adding proper initial value to the integral part of voltage control, and a smooth mode change scheme from voltage control to current control by tracking the EG output voltage to the BESS output voltage using PLL (Phase-Locked Loop). The feasibility of proposed schemes was verified through computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC, and the feasibility of actual hardware system was verified by experiments with scaled prototype. It was confirmed that the proposed schemes offer a seamless operation in the stand-alone power system in remote islands.
This paper presents a robust-optimal control strategy to improve the output-voltage error-tracking and control capability of a DC-DC boost converter. The proposed strategy employs an optimized Fractional-order Proportional-Integral (FoPI) controller that serves to eliminate oscillations, overshoots, undershoots and steady-state fluctuations. In order to significantly improve the error convergence-rate during a transient response, the FoPI controller is augmented with a pre-stage nonlinear error-modulator. The modulator combines the variations in the error and error-derivative via the signed-distance method. Then it feeds the aggregated-signal to a smooth sigmoidal control surface constituting an optimized hyperbolic secant function. The error-derivative is evaluated by measuring the output-capacitor current in order to compensate the hysteresis effect rendered by the parasitic impedances. The resulting modulated-signal is fed to the FoPI controller. The fixed controller parameters are meta-heuristically selected via a Particle-Swarm-Optimization (PSO) algorithm. The proposed control scheme exhibits rapid transits with improved damping in its response which aids in efficiently rejecting external disturbances such as load-transients and input-fluctuations. The superior robustness and time-optimality of the proposed control strategy is validated via experimental results.
Recently the problem of energy branch become worse increasingly. Therefore many researches about new energy source are processing in several places around are processing in several places around the world. Especially solar energy has many advantages like as purity and infinity. Photovoltaic(PV) system can be classified into two types : One is stand alone type and the other is utility interactive one. Utility interactive type PV system need some technology that Maximum peak power tracking(MPPT) and Anti-islanding and Active Power filter(APF). For APF operation dc-link voltage should be high to supply sufficient output current which needed for harmonic current compensation so usually DC-DC converter is used for boost. In this paper DC-DC converter for PV system and controller for dc-link voltage control are analyzed and designed.

In this paper, an adaptive control law for nonlinear systems represented by input-output models are proposed under the assumption that unknown system parameters are in a known compact and convex set. Contrary to the previous results, the compact and convex set is not restricted to a ball whose center is at the origin or convex hypercube. It is proven that the proposed parameter update rule produces a sequence of parameters which reside in the set and guarantees that the position, velocity, and acceleration error converges to zero as time goes to infinity. This theoretical result was justified through simulations.

A variable structure control scheme(VSCS) with sliding mode that can be applied to the process with input/output(I/O) delay is proposed and its control performances is evaluated. The proposed VSCS with and output feedback scheme comprises a variable structure controller, a servo dynamic for tracking the set-poing, and a Smith predictor for compensating the effects of time delay. The robustness against the parameter variations and external disturbances can be achieved by the proposed VSCS even when the controlled process includes I/O delay. And the desired transient response is obtained by simple adjustment of the coefficients of the switching surface equation.

Photovoltaic (PV) systems bosed on solar energy offer an environmentally friendly source of electricity. A key feature of such PV sysem is the efficiency of conversion at which the power converter stage can extract the energy from the PV arrays and deliver to the load. The Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of the PV output for all sunshine conditions allows reduction of the cost installation and maximizes the power output from the PV panel. The proposed algorithm is to control the width of the pulse for battery charging based on the open voltage of the PV panel. As a lab results, the proposed system was implemented functions to adapt to the changes of the PV open voltage, and improved the charging efficiency.

The paper proposes a new multilevel variable output voltage AC/DC Converter for power supply of power amplifiers used in underwater acoustic sensors. The proposed multilevel variable output voltage AC/DC Converter is composed of two parts. One as the input section is the high efficiency phase-shifted PWM full bridge DC-DC converter to get multiport power sources. The other as the output section is composed of two flying-capacitor 3-level DC-DC converters and a diode bridge circuit to get fast-response and multilevel variable output voltage for an envelope amplifier. Also the paper suggests the detailed circuit topology and design guideline of multilevel variable output voltage AC/DC converter. It also proposes the power balanced control method between 3-level converters and the voltage balanced algorithm for flying capacitors. Its characteristics should be verified by the detailed simulation results. It is anticipated that the proposed converter will be used very well for power amplifiers used in underwater acoustic sensors.

Wind is an abundant source of natural energy which can be utilized to generate power. Wind velocity does not remain constant, and as a result the output power of wind turbine generators (WTGs) fluctuates. To reduce the fluctuation, different approaches are already being proposed, such as energy storage devices, electric double layer capacitors, flywheels, and so on. These methods are effective but require a significant extra cost to installation and maintenance. This paper proposes to reduce output power fluctuation by controlling kinetic energy of a WTG system. A MW-class pitch-regulated permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) is introduced to apply a power fluctuation reducing method. The major advantage of this proposed method is that, an additional energy storage system is not required to control the power fluctuation. Additionally, the proposed method can mitigate shaft stress of a WTG system. Which is reflected in an enhanced reliability of the wind turbine. Moreover, the proposed method can be changed to the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control method by adjusting an averaging time. The proposed power smoothing control is compared with the MPPT control method and verified by using the MATLAB SIMULINK environment.
