In this paper, we present an algorithm that quickly and effectively estimates orthogonal vanishing points in equirectangular images of urban environment. Our algorithm is based on the RANSAC (RANdom SAmple Consensus) algorithm and on the characteristics of the line segment in the spherical panorama image of the $360^{\circ}$ longitude and $180^{\circ}$ latitude field of view. These characteristics can be used to reduce the geometric ambiguity in the line segment classification as well as to improve the robustness of vanishing point estimation. The proposed algorithm is validated experimentally on a wide set of images. The results show that our algorithm provides excellent levels of accuracy for the vanishing point estimation as well as line segment classification.
This paper presents analytical approximate solutions for the initial post-buckling deformation of the pipes in oil and gas wells. The governing differential equation with sinusoidal nonlinearity can be reduced to form a third-order-polynomial nonlinear equation, by coupling of the well-known Maclaurin series expansion and orthogonal Chebyshev polynomials. Analytical approximations to the resulting boundary condition problem are established by combining the Newton's method with the method of harmonic balance. The linearization is performed prior to proceeding with harmonic balancing thus resulting in a set of linear algebraic equations instead of one of non-linear algebraic equations, unlike the classical method of harmonic balance. We are hence able to establish analytical approximate solutions. The approximate formulae for load along axis, and periodic solution are established for derivative of the helix angle at the end of the pipe. Illustrative examples are selected and compared to "reference" solution obtained by the shooting method to substantiate the accuracy and correctness of the approximate analytical approach.
A new form-joining process with the aid of an adhesive is proposed in which an epoxy adhesive is applied to a sheet metal pair, and before it cures the pair is clinched to cause the geometric constraint in the form of a protrusion. In order to reduce the forming load and the height of protrusions, a new die and punch set with a very small clearance was devised to reduce the depth of drawing and the forming load. Taguchi method was employed to find the optimal values of design parameters. To implement each case of the orthogonal array, the finite element method was used. The experiments showed that on the tensile-shear test, the bonding strength of the new form-joining process with an epoxy adhesive is approximately the same as that of the resistance spot welding; and in comparison with the other two form-joining processes with an epoxy adhesive, the height of protrusions was reduced by more than 65 percent and the forming load by 50 percent.

In this paper, a prototype Cartesian Parallel Manipulator (CPM) is demonstrated, in which a moving platform is connected to a fixed frame by three PRRR limbs. Due to the orthogonal arrangement of the three prismatic joints, it behaves like a conventional X-Y-Z Cartesian robot. However, because all the linear actuators are mounted at the fixed frame, the manipulator may be suitable for applications requiring high speed and accuracy. Using a geometric method and the practical assumption that three revolute joint axes in each limb are parallel to one another, a simple forward kinematics for an actual model is derived, which is expressed in terms of a set of linear equations. Based on the error model, two calibration methods using full position and length measurements are developed. It is shown that for a full position measurement, the solution for the calibration can be obtained analytically. However, since a ball-bar is less expensive and sufficiently accurate for calibration, the kinematic calibration experiment on the prototype machine is performed by using a ball-bar. The effectiveness of the kinematic calibration method with a ball-bar is verified through the wellknown circular test.
This study propose CAE analysis of fire damper and design of the damper control system. Through the design of the damper system for ANSYS-CFX heat transfer. As a result of the analysis, continuance equation of the damper control. Climate system. Finaily, We have obtained a fire damper solution by using orthogonal array. The fire damper of the set of fixture and alveolus are made by using a CAE software. Also, the optimum design offshore structures. The new H-120 class fire damper was designed. In the near future, fire resistance test was carried out to obtain class H-120 thermal insulation of fire dampers according to a hydrocarbon fire conditions. The test results showed that the insulation of the damper blade was an important factor in the fireproof performance of fire dampers concerning the coaming length minimum 500mm on the unexposed side as specified test standard.
This work uses tensor calculus to derive a complete set of three-dimensional field equations well-suited for determining the behavior of thick shells of revolution having arbitrary curvature and variable thickness. The material is assumed to be homogeneous, isotropic and linearly elastic. The equations are expressed in terms of coordinates tangent and normal to the shell middle surface. The relationships are combined to yield equations of motion in terms of orthogonal displacement components taken in the meridional, normal and circumferential directions. Strain energy and kinetic energy functionals are also presented. The equations of motion and energy functionals may be used to determine the static or dynamic displacements and stresses in shells of revolution, including free and forced vibration and wave propagation.

An approximation technique was developed for the simulation of free surface flows in non-orthogonal coordinates. The main idea of this approach is to approximate VOF by the second order linear equation in the transformed domain on the assumption that the continuity of free surface would be maintained. The method was justified through a set of numerical test to examine if its original shape could be maintained when the circles are convected in uniform velocity in horizontal direction in curvilinear coordinates. Finally a simple problem was solved by applying the method to CFX4.1 general purpose CFDS code.
We propose a new technique for sidelobe suppression in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Sidelobe suppression is an essential technique to design OFDM based overlay system. The proposed technique is based on the combination of the multiple choice sequence (MCS) with the conventional windowing of OFDM signal in time domain. The MCS is choosing the one sequence which has lowest power in sidelobes from the produced set of sequences. The main advantage of proposed technique is that it fully utilizes the available bandwidth to transmit data. Simulation results show that by combining MCS with conventional windowing technique, the sidelobes in OFDM system can be significantly reduced
Theoretically, spectral method has the highest accuracy among present numerical methods, but it is generally difficult to apply to complex terrains because of complex boundary conditions. Recently, spectral-element method, basically divide the domain into a set of rectangular subdomain and solve the equation at each subdomain, has been introduced. However, boundary conditions become more complex and requires more computing time, thus spectral-element method is not powerful for all complex terrain problems. In this paper, potential flow theory was intorduced to solve the air flows and diffusion phenomenon in the presence of terrain obstacles. Using the velocity potential-stream line orthogonal coordinate space, the diffusion problems of hilly terrain by pseudospectral method were solved and compared those with no terrain real scale solutions.
Let G be a cyclic group of order 2 and let $S^1$ denote the unit circle in $R^2$ with the standard metric. We consider smooth G-vector bundles over $S^1$ when G acts on $S^1$ by reflection. Then the fixed point set of G on $S^1$ is two points ${z_0, z_1}$. Let $E$\mid$_{z_0} and E$\mid$_{z_1}$ be the fiber G-representation spaces at $z_0$ and $z_1$ respectively. We associate an orthogonal G-representation $\rho_i : G \to O(n)$ to $E$\mid$_{z_i}, i = 0, 1$. Let det $p\rho_i(g), g \neq 1$, be denoted by det $E$\mid$_{z_i}$ since det $\rho_i(g)$ is independent of choice of $\rho_i$.
