Most of the previously employed dynamic modeling approaches, including Natural Orthogonal Complement Algorithm, have limitations on their application to the mobile robot, specifically at singular configurations. Also, in their dynamic modeling of mobile robots, wheel dynamics is usually ignored assuming that its dynamic effect is negligibly small. As a remedy for this, a singularity-free operational space dynamic modeling approach based on Lagrange's form of the D' Alembert principle is proposed, and the singularity-free characteristic of the proposed dynamic modeling is discussed in the process of analytical derivation of the proposed dynamic model. Then an accurate dynamic model taking into account the wheel dynamics of the omni-directional mobile robot is derived, and through simulation it is manifested that the effect of the wheel dynamics on the whole dynamic model of the mobile robot may not be negligible, but rather in some cases it is significantly large, possibly affecting the operational performances of dynamic model-based control algorithms. Lastly, the importance of its accurate dynamic model is further illustrated through impulse analysis and its simulation for the mobile robot.
This dissertation is reference to measure visual information about the configuration of magnetic field automatically and materialize the new magnetic field mapping system for the rapid and clear measure by using of the mediocrity orthogonal robot in the three- dimensional space required the measure of magnetic field concurrently. The measuring sensor is composed to be available for the measure of three-dimensional direction of magnetic field by vertically conjoining each of three hall sensors utilized of the hall effect and installed Gaussmeter, which is devised to receive the sensor result and the robot controller, away from the measuring robot in order to minimize the affection of magnetic field. Also, the controller and Gaussmeter are composed of Use interface, RS-232C and IEEE-488.2 communication. Interface system is written in NI's LabVIEW and composed to be able to set up a measuring area, the measuring number of times, two and three-dimensional graph, the velocity of robot and the magnetic field distribution graph of each element by inputting parameters. The materialized magnetic field mapping system expert the collection of the data easily and the effect of utilizing data.
KRISO(Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering) designed and manufactured a pilot mining robot called "MineRo" in 2012. MineRo is composed of four track modules. In general, much time and money are needed for deep-sea tests. Therefore, a numerical analysis to predict the dynamic behaviors has to be performed before a deep-sea test. In the numerical analysis, the information about the mining robot and soil properties are the most important factors to analyze the driving performance and dynamic response of MineRo. A terra-mechanics model of extremely cohesive soft soil is implemented in the form of the relationships between the normal pressure and sinkage, and between the shear stress and shear displacement. It is possible to acquire information about MineRo from the CAD model in the design phase. The Wong model is applied to the terra-mechanics model. This model is necessary to acquire many soil coefficients for a numerical analysis. However, in soil testing, the amount of soil property data obtained is limited. Moreover, it is difficult to analyze all of the cases for the many soil coefficients. In this paper, the dynamic behaviors of MineRo are analyzed according to the driving velocity, steering ratio, and variable extremely cohesive soft soil properties using a table of orthogonal arrays. The dynamic responses of MineRo are the turning radius, sinkage, and slip ratio. The relationships between the dynamic responses and variable soil properties are derived for MineRo.
The purpose of this study is to obtain 3-dimensional isocomfort workspace using the robot kinematics, which is based on perceived discomfort in varying postures for manipulating four types of controls. Fifteen healthy male subjects participated in the experiment where their perceived discomfort in the given postures was measured, in which L32 orthogonal array was adopted. The shoulder flexion and adduction-abduction, elbow flexion, types of controls, and right/left hands were selected as experimental variables. The results showed that the shoulder flexion and adduction-abduction, elbow flexion, and types of controls significantly affected the perceived discomfort at .alpha. =0.01. Depending upon the types of control used, regression equations predicting perceived dis- comfort and three dimensional isocomfort workspace were suggested based on the experiemntal cata. Using the equations, driver's isocomfort workspace in his/her cabin for pushing operation was illustrated, in which the robot kinematics was employed to describe the translational relationships between the upper arm and the lower arm/hand. It was ecpected that isocomfort workspace could be used as a valuable guideline to design workplaces ergonomically.

In this paper, we present the complete isotropy analysis of a caster wheeled omnidirectional mobile robot (COMR) with nonredundant/redundant actuation. It is desirable for robust motion control to keep a COMR close to the isotropy but away from the singularity as much as possible. First, with the characteristic length introduced, the kinematic model of a COMR is obtained based on the orthogonal decomposition of the wheel velocities. Second, a general form of the isotropy conditions of a COMR is given in terms of physically meaningful vector quantities which specify the wheel configuration. Third, for all possible nonredundant and redundant actuation sets, the algebraic expressions of the isotropy conditions are derived so as to identify the isotropic configurations of a COMR. Fourth, the number of the isotropic configurations, the isotropic characteristic length, and the optimal initial configuration are discussed.
Previous isotropy analysis of a caster wheeled omnidirectional mobile robot(COMR) has been made under the assumption that the steering link offset is equal to the caster wheel radius. Nevertheless, many practical COMR's in use take advantage of the steering link offset different from the wheel radius, mainly because of improved stability. This paper presents the isotropy analysis of a fully actuated COMR with variable steering link offset, which can be considered as the generalization of the previous analysis. First, the kinematic model of a COMR under full actuation is obtained based on the orthogonal decomposition of the wheel velocities. Second, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the isotropy of a COMR are derived and examined to categorize three different groups, each of which can be dealt with in a similar way. Third, for each group, the isotropy conditions are further explored so as to identify all possible isotropic configurations completely.

Fourth, for each set the expressions of the isotropic characteristic length required for the isotropy of a COMR are elaborated.

In this paper, a prototype Cartesian Parallel Manipulator (CPM) is demonstrated, in which a moving platform is connected to a fixed frame by three PRRR limbs. Due to the orthogonal arrangement of the three prismatic joints, it behaves like a conventional X-Y-Z Cartesian robot. However, because all the linear actuators are mounted at the fixed frame, the manipulator may be suitable for applications requiring high speed and accuracy. Using a geometric method and the practical assumption that three revolute joint axes in each limb are parallel to one another, a simple forward kinematics for an actual model is derived, which is expressed in terms of a set of linear equations. Based on the error model, two calibration methods using full position and length measurements are developed. It is shown that for a full position measurement, the solution for the calibration can be obtained analytically. However, since a ball-bar is less expensive and sufficiently accurate for calibration, the kinematic calibration experiment on the prototype machine is performed by using a ball-bar. The effectiveness of the kinematic calibration method with a ball-bar is verified through the wellknown circular test.
In this paper, we present a complete isotropy analysis of a caster wheeled omnidirectional mobile robot(COMR) with nonredundant/redundant actuation. The motivation of this work is that the omnidirectional mobility loses significance in motion control unless the isotropy characteristics is maintained well. First, with the characteristic length introduced, the kinematic model of a COMR is obtained based on the orthogonal decomposition of the wheel velocities. Second, a general form of the isotropy conditions of a COMR is given in terms of physically meaningful vector quantities which describe the wheel configurations. Third, for all possible nonredundant and redundant actuation sets, the algebraic expressions of the isotropy conditions are derived to completely identify the isotropic configurations of a COMR. Fourth, the number of the isotropic configurations and the characteristic length required for the isotropy are discussed.
