The sales activity of most of small manufacturing companies is based on orders of buyers. The process of promotion, receipt and selection of orders of the manufacturers is closely coupled with the load status of the production lines. The decision on whether to accept an order or not, or the selection of optimal order set among excessive orders is entirely dependent on the schedule of production lines. However, in the real world, since the production scheduling activity is mainly performed by human experts, most of small manufacturers are suffer from being unable to meet due dates, lack of rapid decision on the acceptance of new order. To cope with this problem, this paper deals with the development of an agent for selecting an optimal order set automatically. The main engine of selection agent is based on the typical job-shop scheduling model since our target domain is the injection molding company. To solve the problem, we have formulated it as IP (Integer Program) model, and it has been successfully implemented by ILOG and selection agent. And we have suggested an architecture of an agent for tackling web based order selection problems.

A shipyard is an Engineer To Order (ETO) company that designs and manufactures new products when orders are placed. Various tasks are concurrently performed, thereby making process management considerably important. It is particularly important to plan and control production activities because production constitutes the largest part of the overall process. Therefore, this study focuses on the development of a production planning system based on an Advanced Planning System (APS). An APS is an integrated planning system that targets supply chain processes in accordance with the principles of hierarchical planning. In this study, a Supply Chain Planning Matrix (SCP-Matrix), which is used as a guideline for APS development, is designed through analysis of shipyard cases. Then, we define the process in detail, starting from long-term production plan as the initial application, and design and implement a long-term production planning system using a component-based development.
Especially, MTO(Make-To-Order) companies take collaborative approaches with their partner companies to make low-price products and/or technologically low intensive products. The collaborative approach to manufacturing requires collaboration with partner companies for inventory review, production plan, and manufacturing to fulfill customer's orders. However, frequent changes of partnerships binder partner companies from sharing production information in effective ways since their information systems have different data architectures and platforms. Therefore, it is required flexible and standardized system integration approach fir effective information sharing. This research studies current status and problems of collaborative production system, proposes an architecture for collaborative production systems based on Web Services which is a standard information technology, and discusses expected effects and the vision of Web Services.
The purpose of this study is to suggest a individually fitted slacks pattern in order to help ourselves prepared for the days of the order-based production like the EC in the apparel industry. A pattern was designed to make the personal fit improved based on the present study and the analysis of the measurements and the body shapes. The main characteristics of this newly designed slacks pattern are as follows. To improve fitting, the pattern requires more detailed data such as front and back waist arc, front and back hip arc, hip depth, the gradient of hip. And for personal fitted pattern, knee girth was established in the proportion to the hip girth and the crotch curve was adjusted to the measurements after drawing and the side seam curve was changed according to the front hip type and the ease in waist and hip was established by the percentage. Slacks pattern was developed into an automatic drafting program. Through the sensory evaluation for the appearance and moving fitness, newly designed slacks pattern was turned out to be improved in personal fit espacially for the body type out of the average.
The production of Korean offshore fisheries has been gradually decreasing due to the severe depletion of offshore fisheries resources caused by excessive fishing efforts. The production of the offshore fisheries in 2016 was the lowest since 1975. So the federal and local governments in Korea adopted and implemented various fisheries management plans and policies in order to restore fisheries resources. However, these plans and polices have not been successful in re-establishing fisheries resources. Thus, in order to accurately diagnose the situation with regard to offshore fisheries, this study sought to estimate not only the return to scale by fishing gear of offshore fisheries, but marginal productivity of individual fishing gear based on production factors derived from offshore fisheries production functions. The study was organized in the following manner. First of all, this study estimates production functions of offshore fisheries. The Cobb-Douglas and the translog production functions are adopted as offshore fisheries production functions. Specifically, the functions are estimated by crew, vessels, and offshore resource as production factors. The offshore resource is estimated by the Clarke Yoshimoto Pooley model based on the surplus production model. Secondly, the fisheries production functions are extended to the fixed-effect model and the random-effect model with panel data. Thirdly, this study analyzes the return to scale of offshore fisheries and the marginal productivity of the production factors from the estimated offshore fisheries production function. In conclusion, this study suggests plans and countermeasures for productivity improvement by group (labor intensive or technology intensive) based on the characteristics of individual offshore fishing gear.
In an order-oriented production system such as mold manufacturing, the production starts with an order acceptance, and the production planning is set up according to the accepted order information. Such a work can be done through a dynamic process management system which can reflect shop floor situation dynamically. In this paper, so called the Quick order acceptance evaluation system that can investigate order confirmation quickly, is discussed. When an order is asked, this system must consider the time constraint to determine whether to accept or not, and must be reliable when the determined results are used in the shop floor. For this system, firstly, we simplified the machines by grouping based on their operation capabilities, secondly, we conducted load analysis to calculate available capacities during given periods using heuristic method instead of mathematical algorithm, thirdly, expert can input his experienced knowledge into the system interactively when simulation results don't meet the required due dates. As a case study, we applied this system to an injection mold manufacturing factory.
For most order-based production, it is important to meet urgent orders from important customers while maintaining high on-time delivery rate for successful supply chain management. In this paper, we propose an approach and a structure of planning system to implement Capable-To-Promise which promises the delivery time to the received order. We suggest and compare a few alternative order receiving policies for CTP.
Companies of Build-to-Order(BTO) strive to achieve customer responsiveness and cost efficiency simultaneously. The success of BTO depends upon the high volume production based on product plat form and delayed differentiation principle on the one hand, and upon the rapid estimation of delivery and cost for the customer orders on the other hand. Expeditious processing of a specific order requires the rearrangement of production resources and the schedule, which results in increased cost. This paper describes a cost estimation method using activity-based costing depending on the schedule change caused by urgent customer orders.
Even though Just-In-Time Production System is introduced to industry in order to strengthen competition, applying this production system to field is hard and some problems are occurred. On this study, the algorithm which become smoothed production, one of the prerequisite condition for implementing Just-In-Time, are developed. On the other word. it is possible to become smoothed production based on keeping Lot Production System. The possibility of establishing more stable smoothed production scheduling are proved on this study by comparing with previous researches.
Capacity planning plays an important role not only for master production plan but also for facility or layout design in shipbuilding. Product work breakdown structure, attributes of production resources, and production method or process data are associated in order to make the discrete event simulation model of shipyard layout plan. The production amount of each process and the process time is assumed to be stochastic. Based on the stochastic discrete event simulation model, the production capacity of each facility in shipyard is estimated. The stochastic model of product arrival time, process time and transferring time is introduced for each process. Also, the production capacity is estimated for the assumed master production schedule.
