  • Numerical analysis was performed using FIMMWAVE to optimize the specifications of Si3N4/SiO2 slot and ridge-slot optical waveguides based on confinement factor and effective mode area. The optimized specifications were confirmed based on sensitivity in terms of the refractive index of the analyte. The specifications of the slot optical waveguide, i.e., the width of the slot and the width and height of the rails, were optimized to 0.2 ㎛, 0.46 ㎛, and 0.5 ㎛ respectively. When the wavelength was 1.55 ㎛ and the refractive index of the slot was 1.3, the confinement factor and effective mode area of 0.2024 and 2.04 ㎛2, respectively, were obtained based on the optimized specifications. The thickness of the ridge and the refractive index of the slot were set to 0.04 ㎛ and 1.1, respectively, to optimize the ridge-slot optical waveguide, and the confinement factor and effective mode area were calculated as 0.1393 and 2.90 ㎛2, respectively. When the confinement coefficient and detection degree of the two structures were compared in the range of 1 to 1.3 of the analyte index, it was observed that the confinement coefficient and sensitivity were higher in the ridge-slot optical waveguide in the region with a refractive index less than 1.133, but the reverse situation occurred in the other region. Therefore, in the implementation of the integrated optical biochemical sensor, it is possible to propose a selection criterion for the two parameters depending on the value of the refractive index of the analyte.

  • This paper describes the data structure for program analysis and optimization of bytecode level. First we create an extended CFG(Control Flow Graph). Because of the special properties of bytecode, we must adaptively extend the existing control flow analysis techniques. We build basic blocks to create the CFG and create various data that can be used for optimization. The created CFG can be tested for comprehension and maintenance of Java bytecode, and can also be used for other analyses such as data flow analysis. This paper implements CTOC's CTOC-BR(CTOC-Bytecode tRanslator) for control flow analysis of bytecode level. CTOC(Classes To Optimized Classes) is a Java bytecode framework for optimization and analysis. This paper covers the first part of the CTOC framework. CTOC-BR is a tool that converts the bytecode into tree form for easy optimization and analysis of bytecode in CTOC.

  • Photosynthesis and respiration rate of microalgae are important factors during advanced wastewater treatment research using microalgae, There are several equipments and measurement methods for measuring photosynthesis and respiration, with different challenges that occur during pretreatment and stabilization of the analysis process. Therefore, in this study, for accurate Photosynthesis and Respiration (P&R) analyzer measurement, the analysis process was divided into pre-processing, DO stabilization, and analysis stages and each was optimized to enable accurate evaluation. For this purpose, the effect of DO saturation of the sample on P&R analysis, DO stabilization according to the degassing flow rate, and photoinhibition of the OD level on photosynthesis was investigated. Based on our study results, when DO was supersaturated, photosynthetic efficiency decreased due to photorespiration, making it inappropriate as a P&R sample. In addition, 0.5 L-N2/min level was the optimal nitrogen degassing flow rate for DO desaturation. The inhibition of photosynthetic efficiency by self-shading caused by the increase in OD was observed from OD 2.0, and it was found that P& R analysis is preferably performed on samples with OD less than 2.0. In addition, based on the above three optimization results, an optimized P&R Analyzer instruction for accurate P&R analysis was also presented.

  • A linear state equation of the first order differential form relating the load-frequency dynamic characteristics of interconnected power systems was derived for use in computer simulation. A now solution of the algebraic matrix riccati equation for application in quadratic optimal controllor and least-square state estimator dermination was developed. The program for a dynamic state equation for two interconnected control areas was developed. The optimized load-frequency deviation was analysed and a numerical analysis was tried based on the computer simulation. It was shown that the dynamic response of th loed-frequency could be optimized with weighting factors IR and Q. The result was that the load-frequency and the tie-line deviation were visibly reduced.

  • In this study, optimization of the impeller and design of volute were carried out in order to improve the performance of a centrifugal pump. Design parameters from vane plane development for impeller design were selected, and effect of the design parameters on the performance of the pump was analyzed by using Response Surface Methodology(RSM) to optimized impeller. In addition, total pump design method was suggested by designing volute which was suitable for the optimized impeller through volute design where Stepanoff theory was applied and numerical analysis.

  • Leisure activities alter overland tourism into marine tourism according to a rise in national income. It is expected that the leisure boat with period of introduction in marine tourism will be developed rapidly. It needs to unite with marine technology, optimized layout design, interior design and so on in order to build a yacht of high quality. Because optimized layout design and interior design technique increase the added value of the yacht, it needs to be convergence technology between Ergonomics, Sensibility Ergonomics, and design technique. In this study, we analyzed traffic line of crews in a sailing yacht and assessed working posture using OWAS, RULA and REBA tools. Also we suggested tips of Ergonomic design in the sailing yacht.

  • In this paper, A tag antenna structure for RFID application with resonant frequency of 920MHz is proposed using the meander line technique and Evolution Strategy. Miniaturization structure design for a tag antenna is performed by structure combining the half-wave dipole with a meander line. To achieve this, an interface program between a commercial EM analysis tool and the optimal design program is made for implementing the evolution strategy technique that seeks a global optimum of the objective function through the iterative design process consisting of variation and reproduction. The optimized tag antenna size is 63mm ${\times}$ 15mm ${\times}$ 1mm. And the proposed antenna is realized on FR-4 substrate (${\epsilon}_r=4.4$, $tna{\delta}=0.02$).

  • Optimization of a satellite structure under severe space launching environments is performed considering various design constraints. Simulate annealing, one of combinatorial optimization techniques, is used to optimize the satellite. The optimization results by the simulated annealing are compared to those by the method of modified feasible direction and genetic algorithm. Ten bar truss structure is optimized for feasibility study of the simulated annealing. Finally, the satellite structure is optimized by the simulated annealing algorithm under space environment. Weights of the satellite upper platform and propulsion module are minimized with consideration of several static and dynamic constraints. MSC/NASTRAN is used to find the static and dynamic responses. Simulated annealing has been programmed and integrated with the finite element analysis program for optimization. It is shown that the simulated annealing algorithm can be extended to the optimization of space structures.
