Solutions to the problems of structural parameter estimation from modal response using leastsquares minimization of force or displacement residuals are generally sensitive to noise in the response measurements. The sensitivity of the parameter estimates is governed by the physical characteristics of the structure and certain features of the noisy measurements. It has been shown that the regularization method can be used to reduce effects of the measurement noise on the estimation error through adding a regularization function to the parameter estimation objective function. In this paper, we adopt the regularization function as the Euclidean norm of the difference between the values of the currently estimated parameters and the a priori parameter estimates. The effect of the regularization function on the outcome of parameter estimation is determined by a regularization factor. Based on a singular value decomposition of the sensitivity matrix of the structural response, it is shown that the optimal regularization factor is obtained by using the maximum singular value of the sensitivity matrix. This selection exhibits the condition where the effect of the a priori estimates on the solutions to the parameter estimation problem is minimal. The performance of the proposed algorithm is investigated in comparison with certain algorithms selected from the literature by using a numerical example.
이전의 연구에서 PLS(penalized least squares) 방법에 새로운 가중 방식을 도입하여 기준선을 추정하는 arPLS(asymmetrically reweighted PLS) 방법을 제안하였다.
A variety of statistical methods are applied to model and optimize responses, related to product or system's quality, in terms of control and noise factors at design and manufacturing stages. Most of them assume continuous response variables but, assessing the performance of a product or system often involves categorical observations, such as ratings and scores. Although most previous works to deal with the categorical data provide sorhisticated response models and ensure unbiased outcomes, they require heavy computation to estimate the model parameters, as well as enough replications. In this study, we present some practical approaches for optimal parameter design with ordered categorical response when only a few or no replication is available. Two real-life examples are given to illustrate the presented methods.
This paper uses the distributed heating thin metal moving at constant velocity which are modeled as distributed parameter systems, and applies the Paley order of Walsh functions to high order partial differential equations and matrix partial differential equations. This thesis presents a new algorithm which usefully exercises the optimal control in the distributed parameter systems. In this paper, the excellent consequences are found without using the existing decentralized control or hierarchical control method.
Both parametric and parameter-free necessary and sufficient optimality conditions are established for a class of nondiffer-entiable nonconvex optimal control problems with generalized fractional objective functions, linear dynamics, and nonlinear inequality constraints on both the state and control variables. Based on these optimality results, ten Wolfe-type parametric and parameter-free duality models are formulated and weak, strong, and strict converse duality theorems are proved. These duality results contain, as special cases, similar results for minmax fractional optimal control problems involving square roots of positive semi definite quadratic forms, and for optimal control problems with fractional, discrete max, and conventional objective functions, which are particular cases of the main problem considered in this paper. The duality models presented here contain various extensions of a number of existing duality formulations for convex control problems, and subsume continuous-time generalizations of a great variety of similar dual problems investigated previously in the area of finite-dimensional nonlinear programming.
In product or process parameter design, the case of multiple performance characteristics appears more commonly than that of a single characteristic. Numerous methods have been developed to deal with such multi-characteristic parameter design (MCPD) problems. Among these, this paper considers three representative methods, which are respectively based on the desirability function (DF), grey relational analysis (GRA), and principal component analysis (PCA). These three methods are then used to solve the MCPD problems in ten case studies reported in the literature. The performance of each method is evaluated for various combinations of its algorithmic parameters and alternatives. Relative performances of the three methods are then compared in terms of the significance of a design parameter and the overall performance value corresponding to the compromise optimal design condition identified by each method. Although no method is significantly inferior to others for the data sets considered, the GRA-based and PCA-based methods perform slightly better than the DF-based method. Besides, for the PCA-based method, the compromise optimal design condition depends much on which alternative is adopted while, for the GRA-based method, it is almost independent of the algorithmic parameter, and therefore, the difficulty involved in selecting an appropriate algorithmic parameter value can be alleviated.
Optimal input design problem for linear regression model with constrained output variance has been considered. It is shown that the optimal input signal for the linear regression model can also be realized as an ARMA process. Monte-Carlo simulation results show that the optimal stochastic input leads to comparatively better estimation accuracy than white input signal.
Recently, massive archives of ground information imagery from new sensors have become available. To establish a functional relationship between the image and the ground space, sensor models are required. The rational functional model (RFM), which is used as an alternative to the rigorous sensor model, is an attractive option owing to its generality and simplicity. To determine the rational polynomial coefficients (RPC) in RFM, however, we encounter the problem of obtaining a stable solution. The design matrix for solutions is usually ill-conditioned in the experiments. To solve this unstable solution problem, regularization techniques are generally used. In this paper, we describe the effective determination of the optimal regularization parameter in the regularization technique during RPC derivation. A brief mathematical background of RFM is presented, followed by numerical approaches for effective determination of the optimal regularization parameter using the Euler Method. Experiments are performed assuming that a tilted aerial image is taken with a known rigorous sensor. To show the effectiveness, calculation time and RMSE between L-curve method and proposed method is compared.
Aerodynamic torque of wind turbine has nonlinear properties. Nonlinearity of aerodynamic torque is very important in wind turbine in the aspect of control. The traditional torque control method using optimal mode gain has been applied in many wind turbines but its response is slower as wind turbine size is larger. In this paper, a torque control method using a nonlinear parameter of rotor speed among nonlinear properties of aerodynamic torque. Simulink model is implemented to obtain the nonlinear parameter of rotor speed and numerical simulations for a 2MW wind turbine are carried out and simulation results for the traditional and proposed torque control methods are compared.
In this paper, we used one-dimensional process simulator, SUPREM-II, and two-dimensional device simulator, MINIMOS 4.0 to extract optimal process parameter that can minimize degradation of device characteristics caused by process parameter variation in the case of short channel nMOSFET and pMOSFET device. From this simulation, we have derieved the relationship between process parameter and device characteristics. Here we have presented a method to extract process parameters from design trend curve(DTC) obtained by process and device simulations. We parameters to verify the validity of the DTC method. The experimental result of 0.8 $\mu\textrm{m}$ channel length devices that have been fabricated with optimal that reduces short channel effects, that is, good drain current-voltage characteristics, low body effects and threshold voltage of 1.0 V, high punchthrough and breakdown voltage of 12 V, low subthreshold swing(S.S) values of 105 mV/decade.
