  • This paper presents a wireless ground reaction force (GRF) sensing system for ambulatory GRF recording. The system is largely divided into three parts: force sensing modules based on optical sensor, outsole type frame, and embedded system for wireless communication. The force sensing module has advantages of the low height, robustness to the moment interference, and stable response in long term use. In simulation study, the strain and stress properties were examined to satisfy the requirements of the GRF sensing system. Four sensing modules were mounted on the toe, ball, and heel of foot shaped frame, respectively. The GRF signals were extracted using Micrpcontroller unit and transferred to the smart phone via Bluetooth communication. We measured the GRF during the normal walking for the validation of the continuous recording capability. The recorded GRF was comparable to the off the shelf stationary force plate.

  • A novel method to measure the interaction movement, focusing direction and tracking direction in an optical pick-up, is proposed and the decoupling control for it is discussed. First, the basic principle of the coupline analysis method using back electromotive farce is introduced. Second, the interaction analysis between focusing direction and tracking direction fur commercial slim type actuator is performed using the proposed method. Finally, the coupling analysis and decoupling control for the slim type optical pick-up are discussed. From the brief simulation, we shows that the effectiveness and validity of the proposed method.

  • A laterally driven electromagnetic microactuator (LaDEM) is presented, and a micro-optical switch is designed and fabricated as a possible application. LaDEM provides parallel actuation of the microactuator to the silicon substrate surface (in-plane mode) by the Lorentz force. Poly-silicon-on-insulator (Poly-SOI) wafers and a reactive ion etching (RIE) process were used to fabricate high-aspect-ratio vertical microstructures, which allowed the equipment of a vertical micro mirror. A fabricated arch-shaped leaf spring has a thickness of $1.8{\mu}m$, width of $16{\mu}m$, and length of $800{\mu}m$. The resistance of the fabricated structure fer the optical switch was approximately 5$\Omega$. The deflection of the leaf springs increases linearly up to about 400 mA and then it demonstrates a buckling behavior around the current value. Owing to this nonlinear phenomenon, a large displacement of $60{\mu}m$ could be measured at 566 mA. The displacement-load relation and some dynamic characteristics are analyzed using the finite element simulations.

  • Merocyanine dye (MD) has been extensively investigated due to its marked potential application to photo-electric devices. We fabricated the number of layers to control its optical characteristics using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method. We evaluated the morphology and optical characteristics of MD LB films using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and UV spectroscopy, PL spectroscopy. As a result, we obtained the quantitative morphology and optical characteristics of LB films from controlling the deposided layers.

  • In the soliton transmission system for a long-length and high bit rate data transmission systme using the nonlinear/dispersive optical fibers, the improtant problem is the loss characteristics and is the limited transmission rate by interaction forces. In this paper, It is explained the reasons of moved time position for the soliton peak value due to interaction force sof adjacent solitons. And for the analysis of interaction force affection level in the losslessmedia, we define the percent parameter of error rate due to the interaction forces and propose the optimum time distance of adjacent solitons by peak value tracking methods. With the results, initial percent of error is approximately 50% when itme difference between adjacent solitons is 5 times of funddametnal soliton pulse width. And it is confirmed that maximum transmission length of th esolitons is approximately 38 times of fundamental soliton period, which the maximum allowable percoent of error is 50%.

  • Photonic Force Microscope (PFM) is a scanning force microscope using an optical trap with several piconewton. In PFM, we can have topological information from the bead position trapped in optical trap. Typically the resolutions of lateral and vertical position are 40 nm and 50 nm respectively. To improve the vertical resolution below 10 nm, we use resonance energy transfer which has 5nm resolution in distance. Here we show preliminary results, including performances of scanning bead and fluorescence imaging system.

  • The electro-magnetic vector equation(F=$qv{\times}B$ ; F:force, B:magnetic field, q:plus charge, v :velocity of the charge) explains well about the rotations of electron and positron under the magnetic field[Ref.1], as in Fig.1(a). Because the electro-magnetic wave is also a motion of the alternating charge and magnetic field as in Fig.2, the force vector has all the time inwarding direction and then the wave has a rotating motion. The positron in the proton has constant charge and alternating one at the same time[Ref.2] and then the alternating charge makes the absorbing force with the alternating charge of the rotating wave ($\pi$-ray) around the nucleus[Ref.2]. • Recently, optical pickup actuators have been designed to have structures that extruded lens to decrease their height, because they are used in very thin drive for notebook computers. However because of discordant and undesirable of forces that are supposed to happen in this design feature, subsidiary resonance such as rolling and pitching mode exert bad influence on actuator. In this paper, we presented force constituents to clarify the cause of subsidiary resonance analysis to evaluate characteristics of actuators. As a result. we could find out design parameters to diminish the influence of subsidiary resonance. Sample actuators designed with appropriate parameters were fabricated and put to practical tests. Comparing analysis with experimental results, we verified the accuracy of the analysis and the effectiveness of the method presented.
