오존공정이 입상활성탄공정에서 용존유기물질의 제거에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Ozonation on Removal of Dissolved Organic Matter by Granular Activated Carbon Process)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 파일롯 규모의 입상활성탄지에서 흡착과 생물학적 제거 기작이 진행되는 장기간의 운전동안 전처리공정으로서 오존처리의 영향을 평가하는 것이다. 공정별로 용존 또는 생분해성 유기물질의 제거, DOM의 성상과 특성변화와 미생물의 증식의 변화를 평가하였다. 오존공정이 존재하는 입상활성탄 공정(전오존처리+활성탄 여과지; Pre O$_3$ + F/A, 후오존처리 + 활성탄 흡착지; Post O$_3$ + GAC)은 오존의 위치(전오존 후오존)에 상관없이 입상활성탄 단독공정(활성탄 여과지; F/A, 활성탄 흡착지; GAC)에 비해 생물학적 제거능이 활성화된 장기간 운영 후에 DOC, 친수성 용존유기물(HPI), BDOC와 AOC의 제거율이 10$\sim$20% 정도로 높았다. 오존공정은 전반적인 DOC 제거에는 큰 영향을 주지는 못했지만, AOC를 약 20% 정도로 감소시켜 관로내 미생물의 재증식을 저감하는데 기여할 것으로 생각된다. 활성탄 여재에 고정된 미생물의 생체량인 Biomass는 전처리로서 오존처리의 유.무에 상관없이 공정별로 큰 차이를 보이지 않은 반면에, 유출수에서의 HPC는 F/A나 GAC에 비해 Post O$_3$ + GAC에서 매우 낮았다.

Drill 가공에서의 절삭저항에 관한 연구 (On the Cutting Resistance in Drilling Operation)

  • In relation to the machinability of drilling operation, experiments were made to investigate the effect of cutting condition on static as well as dynamic cutting resistances in cutting plane carbon steel (SM 45 C) with H.S.S. twist drills. The results were as follows. 1) The static cutting resistances on carbon steel can practically be calculated by the following equations which were derived from experimental result. The deviation from the experimental values was less than 8% and 13% for cutting torque and thrust respectively. For cutting torque M: M=0.019 $H_B\;{f^{0.68}d^{1.68}$ For thrust T: T=0.400406 $r^{0.6}d^{0.68}$ + 0.1835 $H_BC^2$(where $H_B$: Brinnel hardness) 2) The static components of cutting resistance are increased exponentially with increasing drill diameter and feed rate. On the effect of drill diameter, the dynamic components of torque are decreased with increasing dirll diameter because of rigidity, the dynamic components of thrust being not effected with the changes. 3) As feed rates increase, the dynamic components of torque rather decrease although its changes on thrust components are unstable. 4) The static components of cutting resistance and dynamic component of torque are slightly decreased in accordance with the increase of spindle speed although its dynamic thrust components are not effected by the spindle speed.

  • As water resources are limited and legal regulations are strengthened, there is a growing need to reuse residuals in WTP(Water Treatment Plant). In this study, membrane filtration system was constructed and its operation method was studied for water quality stabilization and reuse of WTP residuals. The operation parameters were stable for 1 year and 6 months. Membrane fouling was identified as particulate pollution (activated carbon) and inorganic pollution (manganese). The membrane system was operated steadily with raw water of high concentration SS(Suspended solid) containing activated carbon because membrane fouling was reduced by the effect of End-Free type. In the case of inorganic contamination, dissolved manganese eluted by chemicals and acted as a membrane fouling source, and the operating conditions for minimizing membrane fouling. were confirmed by newly developing application methods and types of cleaning chemicals. Based on the results, design parameters for reducing manganese membrane fouling were derived.

입상활성탄 흡착지 운영에서 역세척 주기와 팽창률의 영향 평가 (Decision of Backwashing frequency and method on the GAC adsorber)

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the backwashing frequency and method on the Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) in G WTP. A backwashing period was determined as 50 days and 60 days, respectively. Prior to Backwashing by head loss build, biomass concentration in effluent as constant and DO concentration was maintained more than 11.5 mg/L in GAC bed. Peak turbidity of backwashing water was 73.6~303 NTU. Mean turbidity of backwashing water at initial 9 minute of backwash operation was 50.7~82.8 NTU. After 30 minute backwashing operation, final turbidity reaches approximately 10 NTU. The frequency of backwashing and turbidity of backwashing water overtime were evaluated. At 20days of backwashing frequency, the peak turbidity was 73 NTU and 42 NTU respectively when 10% and 25% of expansion of GAC were applied. At 14 minute of backwashing time, it was observed that turbidity of 10% expansion of GAC was higher than that of 20% expansion.

수증기의 잠열을 이용한 메탄올 수증기 개질기의 특성 연구 (Study on the Characteristics of Methanol Steam Reformer Using Latent Heat of Steam)

  • Fuel cells are used to generate electricity with a reformer. In particular, methanol has various advantages among the fuels for reformer. Methanol steam reformer devices can efficiently supply hydrogen to PEM fuel cell. This study investigated the optimal operation conditions of a methanol steam reforming process. For this purpose, aspen HYSYS was used for the optimization of reforming process. The optimal operating condition could be designed by setting independent variables such as temperature, pressure and steam to carbon ratio (SCR). The optimal temperature and steam to carbon ratio were $250-270^{\circ}C$ and 1.3-1.5, respectively. It is advantageous to operate at a pressure of 15-20 barg, considering the performance of the hydrogen purifier. In addition, a heat exchange network was designed to supply heat constantly to reformer through the latent heat of steam.

  • Compared to other types of fuel cells, SOFC has advantages like a wide output range and the direct use of hydrocarbon fuel without the process of external reforming. Particularly because the direct use of fuel without reforming reaction is closely linked to overall system efficiency, it is a very attractive advantage. We tried the operation with methane. However, although methane has a small number of carbons compared to other hydrocarbon fuels, our experiment found the deposition of carbon on the surface of the SOFC electrode. To overcome the problem, we tried the operation through activating internal reforming. The reason that internal reforming was possible was that SOFC runs at high temperature compared to other fuel cells and its electrode is made of Ni, which functions as a catalyst favorable for steam reforming.

  • 바이모달트램은 '저탄소 녹생성장' 이라는 국가 교통정책 패러다임에 따라 향후 대중교통체계에서 중요한 교통수단으로 기대된다. 최근 바이모달트램을 도입하기 위해 여러 지자체에서 검토가 이루어지고 있으나 바이모달트램 서비스 수준에 따른 시설 및 운영요건에 대한 도입 매뉴얼이 없는 것이 현실이다. 본 논문에서는 바이모달트램의 도입수준은 저급, 중급, 고급의 3가지로 구분을 하였으며 시설수준과 운영수준을 기준으로 하여 세부요소별 정의를 하였다. 본 연구는 신교통 수단인 바이모달트램을 도입하려는 지자체에 바이모달트램 도입수준에 따른 시설 및 운영요건을 고려하는데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다.

$CO_2$ 냉동시스템에서 압축기의 흡입온도와 운전주파수가 오일 순환량에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Suction Temperature and Compressor Frequency on Oil Circulation Ratio in a $CO_2$ Refrigeration System)

  • The quantity of discharged oil from a compressor is one of the most important issues for proper operation of refrigeration system. If the oil is increased in the system not only pressure drop is increased in other components, such as evaporator and gas cooler but also heat transfer coefficient in the heat exchangers is decreased. In addition, the lack of oil in the compressor may cause a critical of the system failure. In this study, one stage single rotary compressor is used for measuring oil circulation ratio(OCR). Carbon dioxide and PAG oil are used as refrigerant and lubricant. Using a U-tube densimeter, mixture density is measured. Characteristics of oil circulation ratio have been investigated for $CO_2$ rotary compressor in the range of operation frequency 45 Hz to 63 Hz and the suction temperature range of $0^{\circ}C$ to $15^{\circ}C$. The results obtained indicate that the oil circulation ratio is increased as the suction temperature or compressor operating frequency is increased.

  • The studies on integrated operation of fuel cell with fuel processor are very essential prior to its commercialization. In this study, Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) was operated with a fuel processor, which is mainly composed of two parts, methanol steam reforming reaction and preferential oxidation (PROX). In fuel processor, ICI 33-5 (CuO 50%, ZnO 33%, $Al_2O_3$ 8%, BET surface area: $66\;m^2g^{-1}$) catalyst and CuO-$CeO_2$ catalyst were used for methanol steam reforming, preferential oxidation (PROX) respectively. PEMFC was operated by hydrogen fuel generated from fuel processor. The resulting gas from PROX reactor is used to operate PEMFC equipped with our prepared anode and cathode catalyst. PtRu/C catalyst gives more tolerance to CO.

  • Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), as high-temperature fuel cells, have various advantages. In some merits of SOFCs, high temperature operation can lead to the capability for internal reforming, providing fuel flexibility. SOFCs can directly use CH4 and CO as fuels with sufficient steam feeds. However, hydrocarbons heavier than CH4, such as ethylene, ethane, and propane, induce carbon deposition on the Ni-based anodes of SOFCs. In the case of the ethylene steam reforming reaction on a Ni-based catalyst, the rate of carbon deposition is faster than among other hydrocarbons, even aromatics. In the reformates of heavy hydrocarbons (diesel, gasoline, kerosene and JP-8), the concentration of ethylene is usually higher than other low hydrocarbons such as methane, propane and butane. It is importatnt that ethylene in the reformate is removed for stlable operation of SOFCs. A new methodology, termed post-reforming was introduced for removing low hydrocarbons from the reformate gas stream. In this work, activity tests of some post-reforming catalysts, such as CGO-Ru, CGO-Ni, and CGO-Pt, are investigated. CGO-Pt catalyst is not good for removing ethylene due to low conversion of ethylene and low selectivity of ethylene dehydrogenation. The other hand, CGO-Ru and CGO-Ni catalysts show good ethylene conversion, and CGO-Ni catalyst shows the best reaction selectivity of ethylene dehydrogenation.
