  • In this study, an efficient algorithm is developed to compute steady state probabilities for the following M$_{x}$G/1 server vacation system under control-operating poligy: At the end of a busy period, the server takes a sequence of vacations, each for a random amount of time. At the end of each vacation, he inspects the length of the queue. If the queue length at this time is equal to or greater than a prespecified threshold value r, he begins to serve the queue until it is empty.y.

  • The subject of this work is the complex discrete systems simulation special features with the aid of dynamic graph models. The proposed simulation technique allows to determine the ways for tasks solutions in terms of discrete systems analysis and synthesis of various complication: one-dimensional and multidimensional, steady and unstable, with the pulse elements abnormal operating mode and others. Often complex control systems analysis and synthesis task solutions, via classical approach comes out to be insolvent, because of the computational problems. The application of graph models allows to perform clear and strict characterization and computer procedures automation. The optimal controls synthesis algorithm presented in this paper, transferring the discrete system from target initial state to target final state within the minimum time, allows to consider the zero initial conditions systems, with the initial potential energy, with the control actions limitations and complex pulse elements operating mode.

  • With the increase of size and complicacy of power systems, distribution system need to operate effectively for high reliability. In order to achieve this purpose, the study which apply expert system to operating plan, restoration on fault and distribution system operating, has developing actively. The essential element of the study is system line state which make a system observe. The development of expert system on power system operation make a system be able to judge state of loading and looping system line, related current direction, substation, and distribution line, atomatically by breaker operation. Finally, this paper developed expert system which decides itself atomatically by rules for deciding system line state.

  • In this paper, a coordinated state-of-charge (SOC) control strategy for the energy storage system (ESS) operating under microgrid islanded mode to stabilize the frequency and voltage was proposed. The proposed SOC control loop is made up of PI controller, which uses a SOC state of the energy storage system as an input and an auxiliary reference value of secondary control as an output. The SOC controller changes the auxiliary reference value of secondary control to charge or discharge the ESS. To verify the proposed control strategy, PSCAD/EMTDC simulation study was performed. The simulation results show that the SOC of the ESS can be regulated at the desired operating range without degrading the stabilizing control performance by proposed coordinated SOC control method.

  • Microgrids offer several reliability benefits, such as the improvement of load-point reliability and the opportunity for reliability-differentiated services. The primary goal of this work is to investigate the impacts of operating condition on the reliability index for microgrid system. It relies on a component failure rate model which quantifies the relationship between component failure rate and state variables. Some parameters involved are characterized by subjective uncertainty. Thus, fuzzy numbers are introduced to represent such parameters, and an optimization model based on Fuzzy Chance Constrained Programming (FCCP) is established for reliability index calculation. In addition, we present a hybrid algorithm which combines scenario enumeration and fuzzy simulation as a solution tool. The simulations in a microgrid test system show that reliability indices without considering operating condition can often prove to be optimistic. We also investigate two groups of situations, which include the different penetration levels of microsource and different confidence levels. The results support the necessity of considering operating condition for achieving accurate reliability evaluation.

  • In this paper, a nonlinear adaptive damping controller based on radial basis function neural network (RBFNN), which can infinitely approximate to nonlinear system, is proposed for thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC). The proposed TCSC adaptive damping controller can not only have the characteristics of the conventional PID, but adjust the parameters of PID controller online using identified Jacobian information from RBFNN. Hence, it has strong adaptability to the variation of the system operating condition. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is tested on a two-machine five-bus power system and a four-machine two-area power system under different operating conditions in comparison with the lead-lag damping controller tuned by evolutionary algorithm (EA). Simulation results show that the proposed damping controller achieves good robust performance for damping the low frequency oscillations under different operating conditions and is superior to the lead-lag damping controller tuned by EA.

  • In this paper, we proposed a low power algorithm using state transition ready method. The proposed algorithm defined a sleep state, a idle state and a run state for the task. A state transition occurring at the time due to the delay time created in order to reduce the power consumption state in the middle of each inserted into the ready state. The ready state considering a power consumption and a delay time in state transition. A scheduling step of performing the steps in excess of the increasing problems have the delay time is long. The power consumption increased for the operation step increase. A state transition from a sleep state with the longest delay time in operating state occurs when the state is switched by the time delay caused by the increase in operating time reduces the overall power consumption reduced. Experiments [6] were compared with the results of the power consumption. The experimental results [6] is reduced power consumption than the efficiency of the algorithm has been demonstrated.

  • The purpose of this study is to design an anti-sway motion for industrial overhead cranes which transport objects on a horizontal plane by adjusting movements of a trolley motor and a girder motor. The movement of a hoist motor has not been considered at this time since its role was assumed to move objects only vertically, therefore, not to affect the swing motion of objects. The dynamic behavior of the swing motion shows nonlinear characteristics, which makes the design of anti-sway motion controller difficult. First of all, the nonlinear state equation for the motion of industrial overhead cranes has been derived. Then they have been linearized about normal operating states determined by the dynamic characteristics of motor motion-acceleration, constant speed, and deceleration, and deceleration, during transportation. The partial state feedback control algorithm based on this linearized state equation has been developed on order to suppress the swing motion. The simulation results have demonstrated satisfactory performance of the proposed controller.

  • Analyzing monthly inflows of the Chung-Ju Dam associated with EI Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO), Kim and Lee(2000) reported that the fall and winter inflows in EI Nino years tended to be low while those in La Nina years tended to be high. This study proposes a methodology of employing such a teleconnection between ENSO and inflow in reservoir operations. The ENSO information is used as a hydrologic state variable in stochastic dynamic programming (SDP) to derive a monthly optimal rule for operating the Chung- Ju Dam. An alternative operating rule is also derived with the SDP with no hydrologic state variable. Both of the SDP operating rules are simulated and compared to examine the value of using the ENSO information in operations of the Chung-Ju Dam. The simulation results show that the operating rule using the ENSO information increases energy generation and reliability of water supply as well as reduces spill. spill.
