There have been technologically distorted naturalization and overzealous digital culture in the formation and development of digital society in Korea. While the suppressive aspects of the 'neo-'authoritarian control and regulation have been excessively centered on the Internet, the autonomous actions of online users from below, with regards to their roles in agenda-setting function, have been evolved as the political. This paper aims to investigate the specificities in the developmental mode of digital technology in Korean society since the mid-90s. In this paper, 'techno-surplus' depicts the state that the abnormal is embedded within a technological artifact beyond its receptive ability. 'Techno-surplus society' designates such an extreme case of specifying technological surplus. In fact, the term of 'techno-surplus society' can be used for a metaphor symbolizing our society, in which social distortion and abnormality caused by 'techno-surplus' have been quite frequently happening, in its comparison to a degree of normality in the institutional politics. This paper explores the local specificities of 'techno-surplus society', in which the regressive aspects have stand out as being more different from the technological developments in China, Japan and the U.S.

In this study, we aim to analyze the relationship between the centrality in the social network and the sentiment of medial web forum users. In recent, many people use online resources to obtain health and wellness information especially social media resources. In the medial web forum, people give and receive informational supports and emotional supports and this interaction forms the social network. We analyze the social network, derive node characteristics in terms of centrality and compare the centrality index and the sentiment score derived from users' messages. We found that as more people express their emotion, they possess higher central position in the network. Further, people who express positive emotion in their messages have higher central position in the network than people who have negative emotion. This study will help to identify influentials of emotional supports to others and finally to control the depression of Alzheimer's disease patients and their related ones.

Nowadays, personal media is a new tool for communication as digital cameras and mobile phones are developing rapidly. We are concerned over Cyworld users who could have different personal characteristics which will influence on buying patterns in on line shopping behaviors. The purpose of this research was to observe fashion attitudes and purchase behavior of Cyworld mini homepage users, for establishing marketing strategies by understanding consumers. For this study, one line survey was used for 500 male and female subjects who are 20 to 40 years old. Only reliable 441 questionnaires were used for analysis. The SPSS program was used for frequency, K-means cluster, t test, and chi-square test. A total of 441 respondents were clustered on the basis of 8 item self-disclosure scale, using the K-means procedures. The results indicated that respondents were clustered into two segments; 267 respondents(active attitude towards self-disclosure) and 164 ones(not active). We examined fashion attitudes in mini home page and buying behavior by self-disclosed variable. Those who are involved actively in self expression and self-disclosure considered more fashion style and trend. The major motivates of web surfing was finding a good design, and good price. High self-disclosure group tends to search many shopping mall for right design and low self disclosure group tends to search them for the right price. High self-disclosure group tend to shop the fashion products more, while low self disclosure group tend to purchase books more through the internet. We realized that active group in self-disclosure purchased their clothing accidently when they visit Cyworld.

News articles and blog posts have influence on social agenda setting and this study applied text mining on the subject of solar PV in rural area appeared in those media. Texts are gained from online news articles and blog posts with rural solar PV as a keyword by web scrapping, and these are analysed by sentiment analysis and topic modeling technique. Sentiment analysis shows that the proportion of negative texts are significantly lower in blog posts compared to news articles. Result of topic modeling shows that topics related to government policy have the largest loading in positive articles whereas various topics are relatively evenly distributed in negative articles. For blog posts, topics related to rural area installation and environmental damage are have the largest loading in positive and negative texts, respectively. This research reveals issues related to rural solar PV by combining sentiment analysis and topic modeling that were separately applied in previous studies.

The aim of this study is to explore diverse characteristics of females aged 25 to 49 years grouped according to Body Mass Index(BMI), and to investigate the effect of body satisfaction and self-esteem on involvement in dieting within each BMI group. In total, 549 females who participated in an online survey were divided into groups based on BMI(underweight, normal, and overweight). Results demonstrated three key factors, as follows. First, differences were identified among BMI groups according to demographic characteristics(age, household income, and marital status), although no difference according to education level was found. Second, differences according to BMI groups were found in body satisfaction and involvement in dieting, whereas were not found in self-esteem. Third, model testing for each BMI group showed, a positive correlation between body satisfaction and self-esteem in all three groups. However, there was a difference in causal relationships among variable across BMI groups. Body satisfaction negatively affected and self-esteem positively affected involvement in dieting for the underweight and normal groups, whereas there was no causal relationship between variables in the overweight group. Based on these results, basic information of groups segmented by the level of BMI was obtained, which could be used for both academic and practical implications.

Korean small and medium sized software companies have tried to export their solutions or services to overseas markets. In 2016, exports of the software industry increased by 6.0% from the previous year, and the value added of the industry was 2.2 times higher than that of the manufacturing industry. From a long-term perspective, it is important to secure a global competitive advantage in order to sustain the export high value-added of the software industry. The obstacles to entry into the overseas market of small to medium enterprises are as follows: first, difficulty in product development and localization of marketing; second, lack of investment for overseas expansion; and finally, competitiveness of software technology. In particular, To overcome such obstacles, Korean small and medium sized software companies should increase the technical perfection and secure software export competitiveness. The paper presents a payment settlement framework enabling adaptive reuse and semiautomatic development of global payment settlement services. The quantitative and qualitative evaluation results are presented with domestic and overseas case studies as follows: Firstly, semi-automatic development is realized successfully by applying the framework. Secondly, it is possible to maintain consistent quality of software and to deliver maintenance services without relying on the internal human resources. Thirdly, it is possible to reduce the project duration of the same development cope to less than 50% by applying the framework. Finally, because it is based on BPMN 2.0, which is a high level design diagram, it is expected that it will be easy to implement through components connection and reduce difficulties in technology transfer and localization. Also, at the time of runtime operation, it will be effective to understand the design idea easily and to carry out additional developments without human resource who participated in the initial project.

Whether it is an online game or a stand alone game, research will ultimately never stop to increase the degree of realistic expression of visual effects. Recently, realistic characters are appearing in games. Particularly, due to the development of virtual reality technology, RPG games with simulation-based realistic images are becoming popular. The player can experience the story of the game in the game and experience difficulty level by level. As other players, teammates, or enemy characters appear as realistic characters, and the episode of the game expands, the importance of realistic game characters is growing so that they can play more. Adding a realistic game character to a game based on a classic movie character gives the player a more realistic and interesting visual experience. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of realistic character style on the fun and visual effects of games.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting financial performance of community pharmacies after the implementation of the new drug policy in Korea: separation of drug prescription and dispensing (SPD). The online survey questionnaires were sent to the active pharmacists of the total 20,633 community pharmacies in Korea and 1,147 pharmacists responded to the survey (the response rate was 5.5%). The questionnaire asked simple financial data in order to compare their financial performances before and after the policy. With the SPSS package (version 12.0), two levels of data analysis were used: 1) descriptive statistics to see the financial status of the pharmacies; and 2) multiple regression analysis to find the factors. {or A multiple regression method was used for the data analysis.} The finding illustrated that the average net benefit of the pharmacies was 4,870 thousand won in August 2006, and the major factors affecting the net benefit were the location of pharmacy (geographical proximity to medical institutions), number of prescriptions, drug management services for patients, chain pharmacy membership. The findings of this study suggest that service improvement for patients, revitalization of non-prescription drug sales, professional management will contribute to promote community based pharmacy business.

The purpose of this study is to apply the Trencadis images in Antony Gaudi's work to a design motive and thus provide a new concept for a knitwear design by combining double-knitted fabrics with patchwork applique, taping, stitching and quilting. This study examines the bibliographic text and precedent research related to Antony Gaudi and his works, and analyzes the historical background and formative and stylistic characteristics of Trencadis as it appeared in Gaudi's architectural works. Also this study also examines the characteristics of knitwear and knitting theory while exploring the formative elements and the combined techniques used in modern knitwear design through fashion magazines, medium images, and online sources. The results are as follows: First, Gaudi's work that applies a Trencadis technique has the characteristic of being creative, organic, and environmentally friendly. And in addition, its colorfulness inspires modern fashion design. Second, computerized knitting has been practiced in various ways and the fabrics knitted by both double-knitting jacquard and computerized knitting machines provide a new direction the creation of knitwear. A computerized knitting machine is especially effective for pictorial expression, and is suitable for showing the natural curve of the human body due to its sophistication. Third, as a result of applying a combined technique to the knitting of various fabrics, a combined or fusion design, which is a recent megatrend, is very effective for the design of knitwear while increasing its aesthetic value. Moreover, utilizing techniques that combine patchwork applique, taping, stitching and quilting will create higher value in knitwear. Lastly, with a project of applying combined techniques in the creation of knitwear, designers can become much more creative while taking their imagination much further.

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate patient safety regulations and guidelines in order to understand their current status, and to examine support measures to improve patient safety in Korean hospitals. Methods: The participants were the safety officers from hospitals with 200 or more beds and 112 hospitals responded to the online survey. The questions covered patient safety regulations, the performance level of patient safety activities, patient safety incident reporting systems, the dedicated professional, training, support mechanisms, and expectations of reporting systems. Results: Among preventative measures, fall prevention and hand hygiene were reported to be most widely practiced (92% and 91%, respectively). Time-out for invasive procedures showed a relatively low practice rate at 70%. Among patient care activities, transfusion, surgery and sedation, medication, and infection management were performed by 84, 74, 93 and 93% of the hospitals, respectively. Patient safety activities included patient safety committee, patient safety cooperation between decision-making bodies, patient safety workshops, seminars, lectures, and training for employees. Conclusion: Patient safety regulations and guidelines have not yet been sufficiently prepared, and a public institution such as a certification authority is of crucial importance to enforce these guidelines.
