혼합형 감각조절장애 아동에 대한 단기집중 감각통합치료 프로그램의 효과-사례보고 (The Effect of Short-Term Intensive Sensory Integration Therapy Program on a Child with Sensory Modulation Disorder(Mixed Pattern) : Case Study)

  • Objective : This single-subject study explored the effect of short-term intensive sensory integration therapy program which was provided in a 2006 sensory integration treatment course on adaptive response of a four-year-girl with sensory modulation disorder(mixed pattern). Method : Based on results of the assessment to the child, her therapist offers an organized sensory integration program during four days. Results : Improvement of child's movement quality and variety in physical environment in therapy rooms and interaction with her therapist were observed. Conclusions : This report of the case will be helpful for occupational therapists who plan to intervent with a short-term intensive sensory integration therapy program. In addition, the need for consideration of consultation with the child's parents is discussed.

작업치료사의 전문직업성이 임파워먼트와 소진에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Occupational Therapist's Professional Identity on Empowerment and Burn Out )

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify the degree of occupational therapists' professional identity and examine the correlation between empowerment and burn out. We also investigated the effects of the occupational therapists' professional identity on empowerment and burn out. Through these assessments, we aimed to highlight the importance of professional identity and find methods to improve empowerment and reduce burn out in occupational therapists. Methods : The study was conducted from October 19 to from November 11, 2023. General characteristics, professional identity, empowerment, and burn out were examined using frequency analysis and descriptive statistics. The correlation between these factors was analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient. Multiple regression analysis was used to identify factors influencing empowerment and burn out. An α value =.05 was used to verify statistical significance. Results : First, Professional identity was an average 3.24±.37. Second, a significant correlation was found between professional identity and empowerment (r=.417, p<.01) and burn out (r=-.377, p<.01). As a result of the relationship between professional identity sub-factors and empowerment in professional organization (r=.270, p<.01),, belief in self-regulation (r=.258, p<.01), vocational consciousness (r=.348, p<.01), and belief in autonomy (r=.308, p<.01) showed a statistically significant correlation. Professional identity sub-factors were significantly correlated with burnout, professional organization (r=-.199, p<.05), belief in public service (r=-.153, p<.05), belief in self-regulation (r=-.334, p<.01), vocational consciousness (r=-.250, p<.01), and belief in autonomy (r=-.293, p<.01) showed a significant correlation. Third, professional identity sub-factors influencing empowerment were vocational consciousness (β=.154, p<.05) and belief in autonomy (β=.135, p<.05), and those influencing burnout were belief in self-regulation (β=-.389, p<.01) and belief in autonomy (β=-.244, p<.01). Conclusion : The study findings demonstrated that professional identity affects empowerment and burn out. Therefore, continuous study on the professional identity of occupational therapists is warranted.

장애인 거주시설 물리치료사의 직무 만족도와 물리치료 실태 (Physical Therapy Status and Job Satisfaction of Physical Therapist in Residential Facilities for the Disabled)

  • PURPOSE: This study examined the actual condition of physical therapy in residential facilities for the disabled and determined the degree of job satisfaction of physical therapists. METHODS: In this study, data were collected using a structured questionnaire targeting 117 physical therapists (male: 49, female: 68) working in residential facilities for the disabled. The questionnaire consisted of 21 items, including six general characteristics, one job satisfaction, and 14 actual situation-related items. RESULTS: The job satisfaction of the physical therapists working in residential facilities for the disabled was 3.81 ± .83, which was between 'normal' and 'satisfactory'. One physical therapist worked in 91.5% of places. The physical therapy room was used only by the physical therapist, occupational therapist or speech therapist, and a nurse and other departments in 65.8%, 9.4%, and 23.1% of cases. On average, six to 10 patients per day were treated the most with 45.3%, followed by physical therapy alone at 19.7%, and work related to medical rehabilitation and other departments at 72.7%. A higher number of overtime hours and nurses resulted in lower job satisfaction. CONCLUSION: The job satisfaction of physical therapists working in residential facilities for the disabled was similar to those of physical therapists working in medical institutions, but the factors affecting the job satisfaction were different. Professionalism in physical therapy was not secured, and the relationships with colleagues were an important factor in increasing job satisfaction.

Study on Attitudes of Occupational Therapy Students Toward Disabled Individuals

  • The object of this study is to explore the attitudes of occupational therapy students and "general students" (who study in different areas other than occupational therapy) towards people with disabilities, and to examine the causing factors of positive and negative attitudes toward people with disabilities by using Disability Factor Scales (DFS). According to the result of the study using the Disability Factor Scales (DFS), it indicates that the attitudes of the occupational therapy students were more positive than those of "general students" from other departments. In the case of score differences among occupational therapy students by class standing, seniors who experienced clinical practice showed a less favorable attitude toward the disabled than freshmen, so it is necessary to develop clinical practice and an occupational therapy curricula that incorporate patient-centered treatment rather than therapist-centered education with simple physical contact or illness problems.

소아물리치료사와 소아작업치료사의 보조공학 교육훈련 실태 및 요구 분석 (Analysis on the Status and Needs of Training in Assistive Technology of Pediatric Physical Therapist and Pediatric Occupational Therapist)

  • PURPOSE: This study was designed to evaluate the current state of training in assistive technology(AT) for pediatric physical therapists(PPTs) and pediatric occupational therapists(POTs), in addition, investigate therapists' preferred training methods and contents. The eventual purpose was to suggest the essential fundamental factors to adapt the assistive technology in clinics. METHODS: The subject of this study were 167 therapists(98 PPTs and 69 POTs) who work at general hospitals, welfare center, facilities for the disabled, and special education school in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. Frequency analysis and Chi-squared test were used. RESULTS: Significant numbers of PPTs(66 therapists, 67.3%) and POTs(50 therapists, 72.5%) answered that they had received training in AT. More than 48% answered no training experience or low adequacy in each classification scheme for questions. The most difficulty in the training was indicated by lack of education opportunity(90 therapists, 53.9%). The most required device training was seating and position device training(43 therapists, 21.9%) for PPTs and orthosis and prosthesis device training(29 therapists, 21.0%) for POTs. In assistive technology service, PPTs needed evaluation to AT device training(69 therapists, 35.2%) and POTs needed evaluation to disabilities for AT training(41 therapists, 29.7%). Both therapists answered that the most effective training is continuous education(52 therapists, 31.1%) and college education(48 therapists, 28.7%). CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that PPTs and POTs need more opportunities for training in AT. For effective clinical app lication of AT, there should be continuous education such as on-the-job training, mentoring program, technical manual, and college education.

물리·작업치료사의 근거중심치료 인식도 차이 (A comparison in the evidence-based practice(EBP) awareness of physical therapists versus occupational therapists)

  • Purpose. This study compared the awareness of the evidence-based practice(EBP) in 100 physical and occupational therapists. Methods. A questionnaire on awareness was conducted to examine the attitude toward EBP, the educational experience of EBP, and the performance ability of EBP. A questionnaire consisted of items on the general characteristics, the attitude toward EBP, the educational experience of EBP, and the performance ability of EBP of the subjects. Data analysis was made by IBM SPSS Statistics Ver. 20. The EBP awareness was examined by the independent t-test. Results. For the attitude toward EBP, there was a statistically significant difference in the item of 'Therapists should judge whether they apply study results to individual patient. For the educational experience of EBP, there was no statistically significant difference in all items. For the performance ability of EBP, there was a statistically significant difference in the item about the ability to understand patient's desire for treatment and treatment preference and the item about the ability to determine appropriate treatment process in cooperation with patients. Conclusions. Both two groups showed very low results in the attitude toward EBP, the educational experience of EBP, and the performance ability of EBP. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance EBP education in undergraduate programs and the clinical field.

Proposal for a Sensory Integration Self-system based on an Artificial Intelligence Speaker for Children with Developmental Disabilities: Pilot Study

  • Conventional occupational therapy (OT) is conducted under the observation of an occupational therapist, and there are limitations in measuring and analyzing details such as degree of hand tremor and movement tendency, so this important information may be lost. It is therefore difficult to identify quantitative performance indicators, and the presence of observers during performance sometimes makes the subjects feel that they have to achieve good results. In this study, by using the Unity3D and artificial intelligence (AI) speaker, we propose a system that allows the subjects to steadily use it by themselves and helps the occupational therapist objectively evaluate through quantitative data. This system is based on the OT of the sensory integration approach. And the purpose of this system is to improve children's activities of daily living by providing various feedback to induce sensory integration, which allows them to develop the ability to effectively use their bodies. A dynamic OT cognitive assessment tool for children used in clinical practice was implemented in Unity3D to create an OT environment of virtual space. The Leap Motion Controller allows users to track and record hand motion data in real time. Occupational therapists can control the user's performance environment remotely by connecting Unity3D and AI speaker. The experiment with the conventional OT tool and the system we proposed was conducted. As a result, it was found that when the system was performed without an observer, users can perform spontaneously and several times feeling ease and active mind.

물리치료사 및 작업치료사의 감정노동 수준에 미치는 요인 (Factors Affecting Emotional Labor among Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 물리치료사 및 작업치료사의 감정노동 수준과 강도를 평가하고 이에 미치는 요인을 알아보았다. 전국 물리치료사 및 작업치료사를 대상으로 자기기입식 설문지를 이용한 단면적 조사연구(cross-sectional study)를 실시하였다. 총 2,000부의 설문지를 배포하여 1,500부(75%)의 설문지를 회수하였고, 이 중 중복으로 답변하거나 답변이 누락된 126부를 제외하고 1,374부(68.7%)의 설문지를 최종 분석하였다. 감정노동의 강도에 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 다중선형 회귀분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과, '감정조절의 요구 및 규제', '고객 응대의 과부하 및 갈등', '감정부조화 및 손상' 하부영역에서 고위험군은 각각 29.4%, 19.0%, 22.0% 이었으며, 특히 감정노동의 강도를 평가하는 '감정조절의 요구 및 규제', '고객 응대의 과부하 및 갈등', '감정부조화 및 손상'에서 감정노동의 위험군은 여성, 작업치료사, 주간 49시간 이상 근무, 하루 치료 환자 수 15명 이상으로 파악되었다. 이에 따라 물리치료사 및 작업치료사를 대상으로 정기적으로 위험군을 스크리닝 하고, 초과근무시간 제한과 적절한 환자 수 배정 등 치료사의 근로환경 조성을 통해 감정노동의 강도를 관리할 수 있겠다. 본 연구를 통하여 감정노동으로 인한 부정적 영향을 완화시키고, 감정노동을 중재할 수 있는 근거와 방안이 마련되어야 할 것이다.

작업치료사의 임파워먼트가 직무만족, 조직몰입 및 이직의도에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Empowerment on Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment and Turnover of Occupational Therapist)

  • 목적 : 작업치료사의 임파워먼트가 직무만족, 조직몰입 그리고 이직의도에 미치는지 영향을 파악하여 효율적인 인력관리에 대한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 연구방법 : 전국의 작업치료실에서 근무 중인 작업치료사 103명을 대상으로 임파워먼트, 직무만족, 조직몰입, 이직의도에 대한 설문지를 구글을 이용하여 조사하였다. 결과 : 작업치료사의 지각하는 임파워먼트는 3.52, 직무만족은 3.05, 조직몰입은 3.02, 이직의도는 3.19였다. 일반적 특성에 따른 임파워먼트는 성별, 연령, 교육수준, 근무경력에서 조직몰입은 연령, 교육수준, 환자유형에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 일반적 특성 중 연령과 교육수준이 임파워먼트와 조직몰입에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었고 임파워먼트는 직무만족, 조직몰입과 양의 상관관계가 있었다. 결론 : 임파워먼트가 작업치료사의 효율적 업무 수행에 있어 중요한 요소인 직무만족, 조직몰입, 이직의도에 영향을 미치는 중요한 변수임을 확인할 수 있었다.

운전재활에 대한 부산 경남지방 작업치료과 학생들의 인식도 및 요구도 조사 (Study on the Degree of Perceptions and Needs regarding the Driving Rehabilitation of the Students of Occupational Therapy in Busan and Gyeongnam)

  • 목적 : 본 연구의 목적은 작업치료과 학생들의 운전재활에 대한 인식도 및 요구도를 파악함으로써 차후 운전 재활에 대한 교육의 필요성 알아보고, 차후 운전 재활에 대한 연구를 하는데 기초자료로 사용하고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 연구 대상자는 경남, 부산 지역의 전문대학 작업치료과 학생 317명이었다. 설문지는 운전재활에 대한 인식과 관련된 15개 문항과, 운전재활에 대한 요구도 관련 9개 문항 그리고 대상자 특성에 관한 4개 문항으로 구성되었다. 설문지 배부 및 회수 기간은 2013년 5월 12일부터 6월 20일었다. 결과 : 운전재활에 대해 알고 있다고 응답한 학생은 73명(23.1%)였으며, 직접 경험한 적이 있는 학생은 47명(14.8%)였다. 운전재활을 알게 된 경로 및 경험한 경로는 모두 학교가 높은 비율을 차지하였다. 운전재활에 대해 알고 있다고 응답한 비율에 비해 운전재활 전문가 및 운전재활 프로그램 및 정책에 대한 인식은 아주 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 장애인의 운전재활 필요성에 대한 인식은 높았으며, 운전재활에 대한 교육이 필요하다고 느끼고 있었다. 인식도와 요구도에 대한 학년별 차이에서는 3학년이 1,2학년보다 인식도와 요구도가 높고, 학교별로 A학교가 C, D학교보다 유의하게 높은 인식도를 보였다. 결론 : 운전재활분야에서 작업치료사들의 영역을 확고히 하기 위해서는 작업치료를 담당하게 될 학생들에 대한 교육이 정규교육으로 이루어지는 것이 필요할 것으로 생각되어 진다.
