Development of an Object-Oriented Finite Element Analysis Program Using J$Java^TM$ ($Java^TM$ 언어를 이용한 객체 지향 유한 요소 해석 프로그램의 개발)

  • The finite element analysis program should be prepared to deal with many of newly arising engineering problems. The sequential structured programming technique does not make a finite element method so flexible. So far, the object oriented programming technique was studied as an alternative programming paradigm. However, most of the research were in the state of the evaluation of the possibility and the applicability of the object oriented method for a finite element program. In this study, a practical object oriented finite element analysis program, OOFE_ JAVA was developed and the result of the analysis on a rectangular clamped plate was shown. The objects which compose the OOFE_JAVA were applied to several engineering problem without any modification and it was concluded that the object oriented technique was appropriate for the development of a complex and large engineering system. And a virtual machine which Java language is using can be loaded on any kinds of computer which has java interpreter regardless of the platform on which the OOFE_JAVA was developed.

  • Diverse researches are working moving objects. The most important activities in a moving object database system are query and analysis of spatio -temporal data providing decision-making and problem solving support. Traditional spatial database query language and tools are inappropriate of the real world entities. This paper presents a spatio-temporal query and analysis tool with visual environment. It provides effective, interactive and user-friendly as well as statistic analysis. The moving objects database system stores plentiful moving objects data and performs spatio-temporal and nonspatio-temporal queries.

  • This paper presents an image analysis method for mearurement correction using the object contour based analysis, which measure the shape features of the imitation missile object. The image analysis is divided into object's tilting angle analysis and corner points detection. The tilting angle is calculated by edge extracting the region-of-interest image and by Radon transform it. The corner points are obtained by contour tracking of binary image and its curvature data processing and analysis. The ability of this presented method is simulated and evaluated by the results of accuracy testing.

An Empirical Study on the Factors Affecting Diffusion of Objeccl-Oriented Technology (객체지향 기술의 확산에 영향을 주는 요인에 관한 경험적 연구)

  • Object-orientation has been proposed as a promising software process innovation to improve software productivity and quality. It has not been understood clearly, however, what factors influences the diffusion of object-oriented technology in organizations. A research model was formulated and hypotheses were generated based on the literature of information technology implementation and software process innovation. To test the research hypotheses, a questionnaire survey was conducted. The results based on 121 responses from Korean companies revealed that project characteristics, use of external experts, and number of development projects are significantly related to the diffusion of object-oriented analysis and design and object-oriented programming. Innovation champion is positively related to the diffusion of object-oriented analysis and design, whereas it is not related to the diffusion of object-oriented programming language. Only project complexity was significantly related to the diffusion of visual programming language. On the other hand, organizational size was not significantly related to any object-oriented technology in this study.

  • The complex documentation involved in power system analysis software require a well-defined and friendly database system. We have developed an object-oriented database management system for power system analysis, and have described load flow analysis and transient stability analysis using object-oriented database(OODB). Database management systems are widely used and achieve high reliability of data management in the engineering fields. However relational database system have shortcomings in application to power system analysis. ill relational database, the data model is too simple for modeling complex data and database languages are very different from programming languages. Object-oriented techniques are sufficiently powerful to support data-modeling requirements of GUI applications. The GUI is implemented using C++ on a MS windows platform. The OODB supports data modeling requirements of GUI applications and the performance is well acceptable for Gill applications.

  • Generally, a study of web caching is conducted on a performance improvement with structural approaches and a new hybrid method using existing methods, and studies on caching method itself. And existing analysis of reference-characteristic are conducted on a history analysis and a preference of users, a view point of data mining by log analysis. In this study, we analyze the reference-characteristic of web object on a view point of a characteristic of probability-distribution and a mean value of lifetime of a web-object. And using this result, we propose the new method for a performance improvement of a web-caching.

  • The object-oriented approach is a difficult method for engineers who are accustomed to other software development methods although it is an excellent software development approach. This paper presents a method for object-orineted modeling re-using DFD(Data Flow Diagram) and SC(Structure Chart) of structured analysis and design approach. This paper suggests an easy method for analysis and design using structured approach for object abstraction, which is one of the most difficult things in object-oriented approach.

  • The unit of the digital content delivery is the web object. For the improvement of the content delivery based on the web, it id required analysis of reference characteristics of the web object. In this study, we analyze reference characteristics of the web object. Using these analysis results, we propose the method which improve the delivery performance of the web object.

Motion Analysis of Soft-Fingertip Manipulation Tasks

  • This paper provides a motion analysis of soft-fingertip object manipulation tasks by presenting a dynamic model of multi-fingered object manipulations with soft fingertips. It is fundamentally observed that soft fingertips employed in a multi-fingered hand generate some deformation effects during the manipulation process and also that those effects are closely related to the behavior of the manipulated object. In order to analyze the motion of using soft fingertips, a dynamic manipulation control scheme is presented. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the motion of soft-fingertips applied in object manipulating tasks and are further used to discuss the characteristics of soft-fingertip motions.

Analysis of 2-Dimensional Object Recognition Using discrete Wavelet Transform (이산 웨이브렛 변환을 이용한 2차원 물체 인식에 관한 연구)

  • A method for pattern recognition based on wavelet transform is proposed in this paper. The boundary of the object to be recognized includes shape information for object of machine parts. The contour is first represented using a one-dimensional signal and normalized about translation, rotation and scale, then is used to build the wavelet transform representation of the object. Wavelets allow us to decompose a function into multi-resolution hierarchy of localized frequency bands. The recognition of 2-dimensional object based on the wavelet is described to analyze the shape of analysis technique; the discrete wavelet transform(DWT). The feature vectors obtained using wavelet analysis is classified using a multi-layer neural network. The results show that, compared with the use of fourier descriptors, recognition using wavelet is more stable and efficient representation. And particularly the performance for objects corrupted with noise is better than that of other method.
