Purpose: This study was to identify nursing diagnosis-outcome-intervention (NANDA- NOC-NIC: NNN) linkages applied to inpatients in general surgical nursing units. Methods: We developed the NNN linkage computerized nursing process program, which consisted of the 107 nursing outcomes and the 190 nursing interventions linked to the 39 nursing diagnoses. This program was applied to 324 patients who admitted to those nursing units from July, 2004 to February, 2005. Results: First, nursing outcomes of each nursing diagnosis were identified as follows: for 'acute pain', pain control, pain level, and comfort level; for 'risk for infection', wound healing: primary intention, wound healing: secondary intention, and infection status; for 'nausea', nutritional status: food & fluid intake, comfort level, symptom severity and hydration. Second, major nursing interventions for each nursing outcome were analyzed as follows: for pain control or comfort level, pain management and medication management; for pain level, pain management and analgesic administration; for wound healing: primary intention, incision site care and wound care; for Wound healing: secondary intention or infection status, infection control; for nutritional status: food & fluid intake, fluid monitoring; for comfort level, nausea management; for symptom severity, nausea management and vomiting management; for hydration, fluid/electrolyte management. Conclusion: This identified NNN linkages will facilitate the use of nursing process in surgical nursing practice and documentation systems.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine factors related to clinical nurses' nursing intention for high risk pathogen infected patient. Methods: The participants were 230 clinical nurses from four university hospitals which located in B and D metropolitan cities. Data were collected from September 14 to 25 in 2015 and were analyzed using a hierarchical regression. Results: The mean of nursing intention score for high risk pathogen infected patient for the participants was $110.62{\pm}12.68$ (range 36~180). The most influential factor for nursing intention was professional self concept of nurses (${\beta}=.321$), and organizational group culture (${\beta}=.166$) was the next influential factor. The level of education and working department were also statistically significant contributors. Conclusion: It is necessary to increase clinical nurses' nursing intention for high risk pathogen infected patient to improve professional self concept of nurses and organizational group culture.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of Korean medicine (KM) nursing knowledge, nursing practice and role conflict with retention intention among KM nurses. Methods: The study used a survey design with a sample of 152 nurses working at Korean medicine hospitals in Kyunggi province and Seoul. The data were collected from January 15 to March 18, 2016 and were analyzed with SPSS WIN 21.0. Results: The factors that influenced on retention intention were knowledge (${\beta}=.36$, p<.001) and role conflict (${\beta}=-.18$, p=.020) of KM nursing which explained 25.3% of retention intention in KM nurses (F=6.06, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings suggest that it is necessary to develop and offer KM nursing education programs for increasing retention intention among nurses in Korean medicine hospital. It is also important to specify the roles of KM nurses for reducing role conflict.
Purpose: This study was aimed to identify the relationships among job stress, nursing performance, and retention intention of clinical nurse. Methods: Data was collected at a hospitals located in Seoul, from October 19 to October 26 in 2010. Total subjects were 270. Data was analyzed by PASW 18.0 program. Results: Job stress of the subjects was 3.69(0.43). Nursing performance of the subjects was 3.69(0.45). Retention intention of the subjects was 3.21(0.78). Job stress and nursing performance were correlated positively (r=0.276, p<0.001). Nursing performance and retention intension were correlated positively (r=0.151, p=0.05). But job stress were correlated with nursing performance negatively (r=-0.127, p=0.05). Conclusion: According to increasing the nursing performance and decreasing the job stress, retention intension of clinical nurse is increased. We suggest a new study on mediation effect by nursing performance on retention intention and to predict factors on retention intension.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of recognition, perceived usefulness, and intention to accept the Internet of Things (IoT) in healthcare among nursing students, as well as to determine related factors. Through this study, we wanted to develop the basic research for the education related to the IoT in healthcare. In this study, data were collected from 348 nursing students using self-report online questionnaires, Naverform, and analyzed using the independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation coefficients in SPSS version 26.0. The results of the study show that recognition of the IoT was correlated with its perceived usefulness (r=0.37; p<.001) and intention to accept the IoT (r=0.23 (p<.001). The strongest correlation was found between perceived usefulness of the IoT and intention to accept (r=0.67; p<.001). In conclusion, recognition of the IoT in healthcare affected its perceived usefulness, and a significant correlation was found between perceived usefulness of the IoT and intention to accept it. This study analyzed how much recognition, perceived usefulness, and intention to accept IoT in healthcare nursing students have. Based on these findings, we suggest that education related to the IoT in healthcare should be incorporated into the nursing curriculum.
Purpose: This study examined the impact of working environment, job identity, and job satisfaction on turnover intention among child care providers. Methods: Data were collected from a sample of 146 child care providers using self-administered questionnaires from May 1 to July 20, 2014. The data were analyzed with SPSS 18.0. Results: Child care providers had a middle level of job identity, job satisfaction, and turnover intention. Turnover intention among child care providers was significantly predicted by age, job satisfaction, and income satisfaction. Conclusion: These results suggest that intervention and strategy development are needed to decrease turnover intention among child care providers. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review articles, thesis and dissertation on turnover intention of hospital nurses in order to identify overall trends in turnover intention of nurses and suggest strategies for reducing turnover intention. Method: Thirty research papers on turnover intention of nurses were reviewed. Result: These papers were journal articles and thesis regarding nurses who worked in general wards, intensive nursing units, and emergency rooms in hospital. The tools used to measure turnover intention were Lawler (1983), Mobley (1982), and Lee (1995), and others. Most of tools were composed of 1-11 items, with 4-7 point Likert scales. Reported reliability was .55 to .91. The mean score for turnover intention was between 2.40 and 3.85. The important results revealed that job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and stress affected turnover intention of hospital nurses. Conclusion: The findings from this review indicate that to reduce turnover intention for hospital nurses, a nurse manager should increase job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and reduce stress by developing a good culture and work climate. Moreover it is necessary to assess stress and job satisfaction of nurses, and to manage nurses' welfare, including night duty policy, salary, and career ladder.
Purpose: This study was conducted to predict the effects of behavioral intention on pap screening tests in unmarried college women using a path model. Methods: The study subjects were 216 university students and data were collected through self-report questionnaires including knowledge, attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, behavioral intentions to take the Pap test, and health responsibility. Results: Knowledge regarding the Pap test was moderate. The factors of knowledge, attitude, and perceived behavioral control negatively influenced the behavioral intention of the Pap test. However, the factors of subjective norms and health responsibility positively influenced behavioral intention. Conclusion: Subjective norms are the most importance factor to increase the intentions of the Pap test among unmarried college women. It is also necessary to eliminate barriers to undergoing pap testing, as well as to provide nursing intervention to obtain correct knowledge and a positive attitude regarding the Pap screening test.
