  • Variable Structure Controller with effective tracking performance is propose to control micro actuator system. Propsed VSC(Variable Structure Control) technique is implemented to tracking control of comb driving system having high non-linearity. The tracking performance due to VSC technique is compared to conventional PD(Proportional Derivative) control technique, reveals improved results.

  • When a high performance current control is desired, a computation time delay of a digital control system may deteriorate the control performance of a current controller. Such a non-negligible effect can be considerable in transient state. This paper deals with the modified predictive current control that compensates the time delay effects of a conventional predictive current control. The method is closely related to a local average current control and a symmetrical PWM pattern generation. Also some theoretical approaches are presented to describe the voltage saturation boundary of the power converter. For validation, the proposed method is applied to an active power filter system. The experimental results show considerable improvement in current tracking capability.

  • Recently, there has been an active study about weight reduction for automotive. This study is prediction and evaluation of one pice type steering component, which is universial joint. Steering system is a core of major safe device in vehicle. Universial shaft adopted in steering system transmit steering torque between olumn and steering gear. Conventional universial shaft is produced by welding process because of geometric complexity. But welding process has some weakness such as deflection on surface, residual stress, and deteronration of material properties so it can deteriorate durability of vehicle.

  • In the process of accurate manufacture and measurement, it is necessarily required to isolate external or internal vibration due to external disturbance and internal actuators. The higher vibration isolation system gets damping around resonance, the better it is generally. This paper analyzes the performance of an existing passive air-spring for vibration isolation table by rising experiment and simulation. Optimal design for a passive air spring can be obtained by fluting the size of the orifice. Also design for an active isolation system is carried out by applying PID controller and considering non-linearity of pneumatic characteristics with help of look-up table. We have developed the act ive vibration isolation table wi th the bet ter isolation performance.

Executive Information Systems Literature (1983-1992) : A Survey

  • Since its first appearance in the late 1970s and early 1980s, executive information system (EIS) has been reported to improve executives' productivity in line with the rapid growth of the EIS market. In this paper, we aim to provide both researchers and practitioners with a comprehensive bibliography on EIS. this bibliography consists of papers which were extracted from (1) INSPECT commercial database service, (2) previous surveys in books and journals, and (3) major conference proceedings. A total of 227 papers, published between 1983 and 1992, were identified and categorized by topic, and journal or conference. The major findings indicate that EIS has been widely used in both profit oriented organizations and non-profit oriented organizations and that the nature of system has been the most active topic among the researchers and practitioners. However, the survey suggests that further research should be focused on development and implementation methodologies of EIS, especially requirement analysis and EIS planning.

  • Traditionally, small-molecule or antibody-based therapies against human diseases have been designed to inhibit the enzymatic activity or compete for the ligand binding sites of pathological target proteins. Despite its demonstrated effectiveness, such as in cancer treatment, this approach is often limited by recurring drug resistance. More importantly, not all molecular targets are enzymes or receptors with druggable 'hot spots' that can be directly occupied by active site-directed inhibitors. Recently, a promising new paradigm has been created, in which small-molecule chemicals harness the naturally occurring protein quality control machinery of the ubiquitin-proteasome system to specifically eradicate disease-causing proteins in cells. Such 'chemically induced protein degradation' may provide unprecedented opportunities for targeting proteins that are inherently undruggable, such as structural scaffolds and other non-enzymatic molecules, for therapeutic purposes. This review focuses on surveying recent progress in developing E3-guided proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs) and small-molecule chemical modulators of deubiquitinating enzymes upstream of or on the proteasome.

  • In this paper, a design of horizontal-type 5DOF magnetic bearing is presented. To implement the non-contact bearing, an active magnetic bearing using electromagnet is used and finite element method(FEM) is chosen to design the bearing magnet. Two radial bearing and one thrust bearing is designed to implement 5DOF operation. And three-phase induction motor is used as a driving motor. The design method for the magnetic bearing system is described.

  • This paper presents a simple and cost-effective stand-alone rapid battery charging system of 30kW for electric vehicles. The proposed system mainly consists of active front-end rectifier of neutral point clamped 3-level type and non-isolated bi-directional dc-dc converter of multi-phase interleaved half-bridge topology. The charging system is designed to operate for both lithium-polymer and lithium-ion batteries. The complete charging sequence is made up of three sub-interval operating modes; pre-charge mode, constant-current mode, and constant-voltage mode. The pre-charge mode employs the stair-case shaped current profile to accomplish shorter charging time while maintaining the reliable operation of the battery. The proposed system is specified to reach the full-charge state within less than 16min for the battery capacity of 8kWh by supplying the charging current of 78A. Owing to the simple and compact power conversion scheme, the proposed solution has superior module-friendly mechanical structure which is absolutely required to realize flexible power expansion capability in a very high-current rapid charging system.

Experiment waveforms confirm the proposed functionality of the charging system.

Characteristics of Strong Alkaline Electrolyzed Water Produced in All-in-one Electrolytic Cell (일체형 전해조에서 생산된 강알카리성 전해수의 특성)

  • Strong alkaline electrolyzed water which is produced in cathode by electrolyzing the solution where electrolytes (NaCl, $K_2CO_3$ etc.) are added in diaphragm electrolytic cell, is eco-friendly and has cleaning effects. So, it is viewed as a substitution of chemical cleaner. In addition, strong alkaline electrolyzed water is being used by some Japanese automobile and precision parts manufacturing industries. When strong alkaline electrolyzed water is produced by using diaphragm electrolytic cell, it is necessarily produced at the anode side. Since strong acidic electrolyzed water produced is discarded when its utilization cannot be found, production efficiency of electrolyzed water is consequently decreased. Also, there is a weakness electrolytic efficiency is decreasing due to the pollution of diaphragm. In order to overcome this, non-diaphragm all-in-one electrolytic cell integrated with electrode reaction chamber and dilution chamber was applied. Strong alkaline electrolyzed water was produced for different composition of electrolytes, and their properties and characteristics were identified. In comparing the properties between strong alkaline electrolyzed water produced in diaphragm electrolytic cell and that produced in all-in-one electrolytic cell, the differences in ORP and chlorine concentration were found. In emulsification test to confirm surface-active capability, similar results were obtained and strong alkaline electrolyzed water produced in non-diaphragm all-in-one electrolytic cell was identified to be useable as a cleaner like strong alkaline electrolyzed water produced in diaphragm electrolytic cell. Strong alkaline electrolyzed water produced in non-diaphragm all-in-one electrolytic cell is thought to have sterilizing power because it has active chlorine which is different from strong alkaline electrolyzed water produced in diaphragm electrolytic cell.
