  • In this paper, we prove that multi-variate fuzzy polynomials are universal approximators for multi-variate fuzzy functions which are the extension principle of continuous real-valued function under $T_W-based$ fuzzy arithmetic operations for a distance measure that Buckley et al.(1999) used. We also consider a class of fuzzy polynomial regression model. A mixed non-linear programming approach is used to derive the satisfying solution.

  • In this paper, we introduce a fractional domination game arising from fractional domination problems on graphs and focus on its balancedness and concavity. We first characterize the core of the fractional domination game and show that its core is always non-empty taking use of dual theory of linear programming. Furthermore we study concavity of this game.

  • This paper presents the two-step strategy method of performing optimal scheduling of paper mill processes using MINLP (Mixed-Integer Non-Linear Programming) considering the trim loss problem in sheet cutting processes. The mathematical model for a sheet cutting process in the form of MINLP is developed in this study, and minimizing total cost is performed considering the cost of raw paper roll, :hanging cutting patterns, storage of over-product and recycling/burning trim. The paper has been used to deliver and conserve information for a long time, and it is needed to have various sizes and weights ...

  • Two methods are applied to the problem of trajectory optimization for launch vehicles which burn solid propellant. One is 'Optimal Control' theory, the other is 'NonLinear Programming' method. Trajectory optimization for solid rocket motors has a special problem. The special problem is that the payload of launch vehicle is not the function of control variable. This paper deals with this special problem.

  • A mixted integer non-linear programming model which has the object function as minimizing building costs, and constraints with the functions for carrying capacity and service level of queueing time is developed. By using the proposed model, the most adequate on a building and the most economical elevator's specifications could be determined by sequential search method like complex method.

  • This paper presents the method for developing an optimum hull form with minimum wave resistance using SQP(sequential quadratic programming) as an optimization technique. The wave resistance is evaluated by a Rankine source panel method with non-linear free surface conditions and the ITTC 1957 friction line is used to predict the frictional resistance coefficient. The geometry of the hull surface is represented and modified using B-spline surface patches. The optimization method is applied to Series 60 hull and KCS(KRISO 3600 TEU Container Ship). The obtained results prove that the method is appropriate for preliminary hull form design.

  • Extensive research has been conducted on supplier evaluation and selection as a strategic and crucial component of supply chain management in recent years. However, few articles in the previous literature have been dedicated to the use of fuzzy inference systems as an aid in decision-making. Therefore, this essay attempts to demonstrate the application of this method in evaluating suppliers, based on a comprehensive framework of qualitative and quantitative factors besides the effect of gradual coverage distance. The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of the numerous measures and metrics in a multi-objective optimization problem of the supply chain network design with the aim of managing the allocation of orders by coordinating the production lines to satisfy customers' demand. This work presents a dynamic non-linear programming model that examines the important aspects of the strategic planning of the manufacturing in supply chain. The effectiveness of the configured network is illustrated using a sample, following which an exact method is used to solve this multi-objective problem and confirm the validity of the model, and finally the results will be discussed and analyzed.

  • After reviewing the background and motivations for using modern computational methods for the design of reinforced concrete structures, an algorithm making use of the object oriented programming language Python and professionally developed finite element software is presented for the sizing and placement of the reinforcement in RC structures. The developed method is then used to design the reinforcement of a deep beam. To validate the design, two identical deep beam specimens were manufactured with the obtained steel, and then tested in the laboratory. It was found that the experimental results corroborated those predicted with the finite element design method.

  • This paper introduces GP(Genetic Programming) based color detection model for an object detection of humanoid robot vision. Existing color detection methods have used linear/nonlinear transformation of RGB color-model. However, most of cases have difficulties to classify colors satisfactory because of interference of among color channels and susceptibility for illumination variation. Especially, they are outstanding in degraded images from robot vision. To solve these problems, we propose illumination robust and non-parametric multi-colors detection model using evolution of GP. The proposed method is compared to the existing color-models for various environments in robot vision for real humanoid Nao.

  • A numerical method for the solution of one-dimensional inverse heat conduction problem is established and its performance is demonstrated with computational results. The present work introduces the maximum entropy method in order to build a robust formulation of the inverse problem. The maximum entropy method finds the solution that maximizes the entropy functional under given temperature measurement. The philosophy of the method is to seek the most likely inverse solution. The maximum entropy method converts the inverse problem to a non-linear constrained optimization problem of which constraint is the statistical consistency between the measured temperature and the estimated temperature. The successive quadratic programming facilitates the maximum entropy estimation. The gradient required fur the optimization procedure is provided by solving the adjoint problem. The characteristic feature of the maximum entropy method is discussed with the illustrated results. The presented results show considerable resolution enhancement and bias reduction in comparison with the conventional methods.
