  • Electrolytic impregnation of nickel hydroxide into porous sintered nickel plaque from various nickel solutions were carried out at room or high temperatures and current density range of 2.5mA $cm^{-2}$ to 25mA $cm^{-2}$. The morphology of the deposited surface was observed with an electron microscope and the surface products were analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction method. Nickel hydroxide was deposited in nickel nitrate electrolyte, while deposits from sulphate or chloride solutions were almost metallic nickel. The loading level of nickel hydroxide from nitrate solutions was 1.6g$cm^{-3}$ void volume and the appearance of the surface was good quality. Discharge capacity of prepared electrodes in nickel nitrate electrolyte was larger than that of the others bath. It was considered that the cell capacity was dependent on the surface roughness of active material.

  • Synthesis of multi-walled carbon nanotubes on a nickel-nitrate-deposited substrate using an ethylene fueled inverse diffusion flame was illustrated. The deposition of nickel-nitrate particles on substrates was used for the smaller-diameter nanotubes than those formed in our previous studies. Also the effect of temperature variations on the size of formed nanotubes was investigated. The diameters of formed multi-walled carbon nanotubes were ranging from 15 to 100 nm in the several radial locations. In case of using a nickel-nitrate-deposited substrate, the smaller-diameter carbon nanotubes were synthesized than those in case of using the substrate with melted nickel-nitrate. In the formation region of carbon nanotubes, the diameter of formed nanotubes was tend to be decrease as the radial distance form the flame center was increased, that is the decreased substrate temperature.

  • Nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by a simple liquid phase process for producing ceramics powder using a precursor impregnated with a nickel(II) nitrate hexahydrate aqueous solution in an industrial pulp. The microfibrile structure of the precursor impregnated with nickel nitrate hexahydrate aqueous solution was confirmed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), and the crystal structure and particle size of nickel oxide (NiO) particles produced as the heat treatment temperature of the precursor were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and SEM. As a result, it was confirmed through XRD and SEM analysis that the temperature at which the organic material of the precursor is completely thermally decomposed was 495-500℃, and the size and crystallinity of the nickel oxide particles produced increased as the heat treatment temperature increased. The size of the nickel oxide particles obtained by heat treatment at 500-800℃ for 1 hour was 50-200 nm. It was confirmed by XRD and SEM analysis that a NiO crystal phase was formed at a heat treatment temperature of 380℃, only a single NiO phase existed until 800℃.

  • An activated catalyst prepared from a mixture of nickel nitrate hexahydrate with zinc in dry ethanol under reflux showed exceptional catalytic activity for the reduction of nitroarenes to the corresponding azoxy compounds exclusively in the presence of hydrazine monohydrate. However, when nickel nitrate hexahydrate was replaced by nickel chloride dihydrate with zinc, only the aminoarenes were formed in high yields. With unactivated catalyst, the reduction reaction from a mixture of nitroarenes, nickel nitrate or chloride, excess zinc and hydrazine monohydrate gave the corresponding azo, azoxy and amino compounds in much lower yields.

  • Nanosize NiO powder was prepared by mixing acidic nickel nitrate with basic nickel carbonate. The particle size and morphology of NiO were mainly governed by the mole ratio of the nitrate to the carbonate. The effects were studied by DSC, XRD, FTIR, and SEM. Heat treatment conditions influence the particle size distribution of produced NiO powder extensively for the case of 3N7C (3 moles of the nitrate and 7 moles of the carbonate) and 4N6C, but only slightly for 1N9C and 2N8C. Uniform pseudospherical NiO particles were obtained in $50{\sim}70$ nm for 1N9C and $30{\sim}60$ nm for 2N8C by calcination at $750{^{\circ}C}$ for 2 h.

  • Alpha Nickel hydroxide samples have been synthesized by electrodeposition on platinum and nickel substrates at current densities of 1, 5, 6, 7 and 10 mAcm?2 at a controlled temperature of 30.00 oC from Ni(NO3)2 bath. Platinum substrate shows a tendency to incorporate less nitrate ions with increase in current density thus producing less hydroxy-deficient nickel hydroxide layers. On the whole the interlayer distance (d003) is found to be inversely proportional to the amount of nitrate ions incorporated in-between the lattice. For the first time we have observed a decrease in lattice spacing with increase in concentration of intercalant (anions) and the reason for lattice contraction is attributed to the columbic attractive forces exerted by the oppositely charged nitrate ion and positively charged slabs. The Infrared spectra of the samples with expanded interlayers show two types of OH vibrations corresponding to hydrogen bonded and non-hydrogen bonded OH groups whereas the contracted interlayers show only hydrogen-boded OH groups. Although the faradaic efficiency is found to increase with increase in applied current there is a local minimum at 6.0 mAcm?2 current density on both platinum and nickel substrates. In this manuscript, GC-MS data is provided which clearly demonstrates the electrodeposited nickel hydroxide sample to consist of huge amount of carbonate ions although the electrolyte solution in nickel nitrate.

  • A preparation of $Ni_xMn_{1-x}Fe_2O_4$ nanoparticles produced via the reduction of Nickel nitrate hexahydrate, Manganese (II) nitrate hexahydrate and Iron nitrate nonahydrate with hydrazine in Igepal CO-520/cyclohexane reverse micelle solutions was investigated. Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and Vibration Sample Magnetometer (VSM) analyses showed that the resultant nanoparticles increased the molar ration of water to Igepal CO-520 as the concentrations of Nickel nitrate hexahyrate, Manganese (II) nitrate hexahydrate and Iron nitrate nonahydrate increased. The average size of the synthesized particles calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ for 2hrs was in the range of 20 nm to 30 nm, and the particle distribution was broadened. The phase of the synthesized particles was crystalline, and the magnetic behavior of the synthesized particles was superparamagnetism. The effect of the synthesis parameters of the molar ratio of water to surfactant and the calcination temperature was discussed.

  • $\alpha,\omega-Vinyl$ poly (dimethyl-methylphenyl) siloxane prepolymer (VPMPS ) was prepared by the equilibrium polymerization of octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane $(D_4)$, 1,3,5-trimethyl-1,3,5-triphenylcyclotrisiloxane $(D_3^{Me,Ph)$, and 1,1,3,3-tetramethyl-1,3-divinyldisiloxane (MVS). And also, of $\alpha,\omega-hydrogen$ poly(dimethyl-methyl)siloxane prepolymer (HPDMS) as end blocker was prepared from octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane $(D_4)$, 1,3,5-trimethylcyclotrisiloxane $(D_3^:Me,H})$, and 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane (MS). Nickel ferrite nanoparticles having spinel magnetic material was prepared by the sol-gel method using PAA as a chelating agent. Poly(organosiloxane) rubber nanocomposite containing silica and nickel ferrite ultrafine powder modified with 1,3-divinyltetramethyldisilazane (VMS) was prepared by compounding VPMPS, HPDMS, and catalyst in high speed dissolver. The mechanical properties, heat dissipating away characteristics, and volume resistivities for POX-30 and POX-50 were measured.

  • Silver-Nickel alloy has been used as a electrical contact material for low voltage, low current. Since the solubility between Ag and Ni is very low, it is difficult to produce Ag-Ni alloy by using conventional melting method and disperse Ni powder homogeneously in Ag matrix. In this study we have been produced fine Ag-Ni alloy powder by using coprecipitation method. Firstly, we have produced silver-nickel nitrate solution by dissolving the Ag and Ni ingot in nitric acid solution and then, coprecipitate (Ag, Ni)carbonate dropping Ag-Ni nitrate solution to sodium carbonate solution. (Ag, Ni) carbonate is heat-treated in $H_2$ atmosphere, $400^{\circ}C$ and it has been analysed by TGA, SEM, XRD, ICP. It is represented Silver-Nickel alloy powder in the particle range of $0.1{\sim}0.5{\mu}m$.
