  • This study aimed at uncovering the experience of adaptation of the new nursing staff in hospital setting. Methods: For this study, 15 new graduate nurses participated. The data was collected through the in-dept interviews and analysed in terms of Strauss and Corbin′s grounded theory methodology. Results: The core category was identified with "entering orbit". The new graduate nurses, who experienced the taeoom because of their unskilled professions, tried to enter orbit by overcoming difficult situations through reducing stress, maintaining good interpersonal relationship, grasping, compensating, persisting, and introspecting. Noticeably, in the process of adaptation, negative image of nursing, conflict of interpersonal relationship and the educational program for the new nursing staff had effect on the intervening factors. Finally, this study confirmed that the processes of new nurses′ adaptation are confusing, confrontating, becoming a member and settling in hospital setting. Conclusion: Therefore, the educational programs reflecting new nursing staffs′ experiences should be developed.

  • The telescope to be onboard SPICA (Space Infrared Telescope for Cosmology and Astrophysics) has an aperture diameter of 2.5 m and its imaging performance is to be diffraction-limited at a wavelength of $20{\mu}m$ at the operating temperature of <8 K. Because manufacturing precise autocollimating flat mirrors (ACFs) with sizes comparable to the SPICA telescope is not technically feasible, we plan to use sub-aperture stitching interferometry through ACFs for optical testing of the telescope. We have verified the applicability of the sub-aperture stitching technique to the SPICA telescope by performing stitching experiments in a vacuum at a room temperature, using the 800-mm telescope and a 300-mm ACF. We have also developed a new method to reduce uncertainties possibly caused by cryogenic and gravitational deformations of ACFs.

  • We developed new quantum chemical molecular dynamics and kinetic Monte Carlo programs to simulate the destruction processes of MgO protecting layer in plasma display panel. Our simulation results proposed that MgO(111) surface with nano-dot structures covered by (001) facets has the highest stability, which is against the previous knowledge. The formation of nano-dot structures on the MgO(111) surface covered by (001) facets was found to be the reason for the high stability of the MgO(111) surface. Furthermore, the effect of grain boundary on the stability of MgO surfaces was also clarified.

  • In this study, we determined the 3D-structure of Arabidopsis thaliana KAPAS by homology modeling. We then investigated the binding mode of compounds obtained from in-house library using computational docking methods. From the flexible docking study, we achieved high dock scores for the active compounds denoted in this study as compound $\mathbf{3}$ and compound $\mathbf{4}$. Thus, we highlight the flexibility of specific residues, Lys 312 and Phe 172, when used in active sites.

  • p-Hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) is a potent herbicide target that is in current use. In this study, we developed a predictive pharmacophore model that uses known HPPD inhibitors based on a theoretically constructed HPPD homology model. The pharmacophore model derived from the three-dimensional (3D) structure of a target protein provides helpful information for analyzing protein-ligand interactions, leading to further improvement of the ligand binding affinity.

  • Camellia tuyenquangensis (Theaceae), a new yellow species of camellia from the Chiem Hoa district of the Tuyen Quang province in Vietnam, is described and illustrated. Camellia tuyenquangensis is similar to Camellia luongii but different from the latter species in several morphological features: leaves oblong-ovate to narrow elliptic; flowers 1-2; bracteoles glabrous on both sides; sepal margins ciliate; style cleft one half of the length. The morphological data provisionally support its placement in Camellia sect. Chrysantha Chang.

  • Register transfer level power macromodeling is well known as a promising technique for accurate and efficient power estimation. This paper proposes effective approaches based on the tablebased method for the RTL power macro-modeling. The new parameter SD, which characterizes the distribution of switching activities for each gate in the circuit, is one of the contributions. The new parameter SD has strong correlation with power consumption. We also propose an accurate table reference method considering the circuit characteristics. The table reference method is applicable for every table-based method and outputs more accurate power value. The experimental results show that the combination of the proposed methods reduces max error 30.36% in the best case, comparing conventional methods. The RMS error is also improved 1.70% in the best case.

  • This paper presents a new circuit topology of dc bus line switch-assisted half-bridge soft switching PWM inverter type dc-dc converter for arc welder. The proposed power converter is composed of typical voltage source half-bridge high frequency PWM inverter with a high frequency transformer link in addition to dc bus line side power semiconductor switching devices fer PWM control scheme and capacitive lossless snubbers. All the active power switches in the half-bridge arm and dc bus lines can achieve ZCS turn-on and ZVS turn-off commutation operation and consequently the total turn-off switching losses can be significantly reduced. As a result, a high switching frequency of using IGBTs can be actually selected more than about 20 kHz. The effectiveness of this new converter topology is proved for low voltage and large current dc-dc power supplies such as arc welder from a practical point of view.
