Objective: The aim of this study is developing the navigation radar display of navy ship with ecological interface design (EID) framework. Background: Navy ship radar operator must perform navigation support tasks by monitoring the complex and diverse information presented on the radar display. Current radar display is limited in effective navigation aid and response to an unusual state immediately. It is necessary to develop an effective radar display. Method: Ten navy radar operators performed a series of trials in a low-fidelity radar simulation in which they attempted to solve the problems of current navigation situation. Results: The result demonstrated that the ecological interface's performance was better than the existing radar display on performance time and subjective mental workload. Conclusion: This study expand EID study field to navy ship radar display and confirm ecological display is better than existing radar display in performance time, subjective mental work load. Application: The result of this study may help to improve navy ship navigation radar display currently in use.

Determination of navigation variables (latitude, longitude, and altitude) near the earth's surface is termed 'Terrestrial Navigation'. The quantities that are measured inertially are the total acceleration (or the integral fo this acceleration over a fixed time interval) and the total angular rate (or the integral of this angular rate over the same time interval). These measurements when suitably compensated can be manipulated to yield the navigation variables. Hence, it is essential that the initial values of position, orientation and velocity are accurately set up during the initial alignment process. Initial alignment of gimballed inertial navigation system ( GINS) is accomplished by gyrocompassing techniques. These cannot be used, in the case of strapdown inertial navigation system(SDINS), where the inertial instruments are directly strapped down to a vehicle frame. The basic objective of this paper is the development of digital method for the determination of the initial axes erection of a SDINS from vibration and sway currupted data on the launch pad.

In this paper, an efficient real-time control architecture for autonomous navigation of powered wheelchair is developed. Since an advanced intelligent wheelchair requires real-time performance, the control software architecture of powered wheelchair is developed under Linux real-time extension Real-time Application Interface (RTAI). A hierarchical control structure for autonomous navigation is designed and implemented using real-time processe and interrupts handling of sensory perception based on slanted surface LRF, emergency handling capability, and motor control with 0.1 msec sampling time. The performance of our powered wheelchair system with the implemented control architecture for autonomous navigation is verified via experiments in a corridor.

We present recent human-vehicle interaction (HVI) research conducted in the area of defense and military application. Research topics discussed in this paper include: training simulation for overland navigation tasks; expertise effects in overland navigation performance and scan patterns; pilot's perception and confidence on an overland navigation task; effects of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) supervisory control on F-18 formation flight performance in a simulator environment; autonomy balancing in a manned-unmanned teaming (MUT) swarm attack, enabling visual detection of IED (Improvised Explosive Device) indicators through Perceptual Learning Assessment and Training; usability test on DaViTo (Data Visualization Tool); and modeling peripheral vision for moving target search and detection. Diverse and leading HVI study in the defense domain suggests future research direction in other HVI emerging areas such as automotive industry and aviation domain.

Unmanned ground vehicles have important military, reconnaissance, and materials handling application. Many of these applications require the UGVs to move at high speeds through uneven, natural terrain with various compositions and physical parameters. This paper presents a framework for high speed autonomous navigation based on the integrated real time traversability. Specifically, the proposed system performs real-time dynamic simulation and calculate maximum traversing velocity guaranteeing safe motion over rough terrain. The architecture of autonomous navigation is firstly presented for high-speed autonomous navigation. Then, the integrated real time traversability, which is composed of initial velocity profiling step, dynamic analysis step, road classification step and stable velocity profiling step, is introduced. Experimental results are presented that demonstrate the method for a $6{\times}6$ autonomous vehicle moving on flat terrain with bump.
Loran-C of ground transmitting station base that can prevent confusion of country navigation system and give BACK-UP function about electric wave navigation comparing utilization incapability state about GPS(Global Positioning System) infra that user is spreading rapidly over our society whole such as sea/aviation safety, vehicles navigation, minuteness agriculture, minuteness measurement in this treatise practical use of Loran-C navigation propose. Executed ASF(Additional Secondary Phase Factor) production and an application experiment Loran-C by location error improvement way to enhance practical use value. By the result Loran-C in conclusion that can improve location error 100~400m remarkably by 10~65m reach. Also, production extent is latitude when go composition medium and bends cotton at ASF revision table utilization of land area, this smell is judged to be suitable hardness 10 minutes. And notable location error improvement and numeric of GPS BACK-UP function are judged to be possible at a ASF revision table application to Korea Peninsula whole area hereafter.
IMO adopt the revision of SOLAS convention on requirement systems for ECDIS and considered an ECDIS as the major system for E-Navigation strategy on marine transportation safety and environment protection. ENC(Electronic Navigational Chart) as the base map of ECDIS is considered as a principal information infrastructure that is essential for navigation tasks. Because ENCs are not easy to utilize for being encoded according to ISO/IEC 8211 file format, used for navigational purpose mainly, it's required to utilize in parts of Marine GIS and various marine application. In this paper, we developed KML conversion technology for ENC application. In details, we analyzed data model and encoding method of ENC, schema structure and data file of KML. Based on this results, we developed the program of KML conversion of ENCs.
GPS (Global Positioning System) is the most ideal navigation system which can be used on the earth irrespective of time and weather conditions. GPS has been used for various applications such as construction, survey, environment, communication, intelligent vehicles and airplanes and the needs of GPS are increasing in these days. This paper deals with the design and implementation of the RTOS (Real-Time Operating System) for a GPS navigation computer in the GPS/INS integrated navigation system. The RTOS provides the optimal environment for execution and the base platform to develop GPS application programs. The key facilities supplied by the RTOS developed in this paper are priority-based preemptive scheduling policy, dynamic memory management, intelligent interrupt handling, timers and IPC, etc. We also verify the correct operations of all application tasks of the GPS navigation computer on the RTOS and evaluate the performance by measuring the overhead of using the RTOS services.
LTE-maritime, which was built as part of the Korean e-Navigation project, has been providing a service that meets the goal of establishing a network up to 100km from the coast since J anuary 31, 2021. To provide appropriate communication services for LTE-maritime from the perspective of real users, additional performance analysis of LTE-maritime is required considering service implementation, and efficient use of spectrum resources. This paper presents the requirement of transmission speed according to the e-Navigation service scenario, and available transmission speed based on LTE modulation coding scheme (MCS) according to sea-specific ship distribution scenario and frequency resource allocation, and is cross-analyzed with results of the sea test.
The flow of global digitalization is leading to the emergence of a decentralized system environment based on blockchain or distributed ledger technology in the fields of economy, identity authentication, and logistics. Accordingly, a requirement that public services be searchable from several decentralized maritime service registries (MSRs) has been derived in terms of the discoverability of e-navigation services. This study describes a decentralized MSR environment composed of the MSR ledger and multiple local MSRs, and it has implemented a service search system that can search global e-navigation services in the environment through a web browser. This system is a decentralized application that dynamically generates service attributes, geometry information, and free text queries, and that provides users with relevant MSR and service access information from search results that are registered in the MSR ledger. In this study, we tested the established decentralized MSR environment and the system that performs service search within that environment, and we discussed its advantages and limitations.
