  • Recently due to the crisis of environment and resources, construction industry that effects a lot on nature than any other industries is essentially required to consider environment element through the life cycle. With the increase in the demand for sustainable and environmentally-friendly development, Green Building Certification System came into force in 2002. Lots of advanced countries and Korea have been running green building certification system. But many people of Korea is getting interested in LEED. We spend too much money to get a LEED Certification. So we need to develop our own green building certification that fits our environment. In this study, we are going to compare GBCC with LEED to develop our Green Building Rating System.

  • Piston crown to the hot forge a unified nature of the product has a shape with multi-level step forging process, so if you are not a mechanical process that can be a significant loss is material. Therefore, minor in terms of material technology; continue to improve the collection rate should be.   • Since the cement-water reaction in exothermic by nature, the temperature rise within a large concrete mass. Significant tensile stresses may develop from the volume change associated with the increase and decrease of the temperature with the mass concrete. There thermal stresses will cause temperature-related cracking in mass concrete structure. These typical type of mass concrete include mat foundation, bridge piers, thick wall, box type walls, tunnel linings, etc. Crack control methods can be considered at such stages as designing, selecting the materials, and detailing the construction method. Temperature and analysis was performed by taking into consideration of the cement type and content, boundary and environment conditions including the variations of atmospheric temperature and wind velocity. This is paper, the effect of separate placement of thermal crack control footing was analysed by a three dimensional finite element method. As a result, using this method, thermal crack control can be easily performed for structures such as mat structures.

  • This study is to find mental element and principle for building as the side of tranditional ideas and to understand dwelling from and style by this wag. So we can understand yang taeg theory as a part of feng shui that controls the mental, field of traditional architecture. The results may besummarised as follows. 1. Mentalprinciple of traditional architecfure being understood as a "역" is to result is not the concept of shape as materials and in but that of phase as a spririt. 2. In yang taeg theory, architectural behavior (as selecting site, building and the day for building) is made form the base of that, a human being as a part of universe. 3. Geomantic aspect, to being, laid in an fying a human being and nature as spatial, time concept. 4. The concept of domain in feng-shui is found in village as well as in house.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the Korean traditional housing design characteristics in apartment model houses. 37 floor plans of apartment model houses in Busan were collected and analyzed. Also, 31 design element check-lists were checked through the field study in apartment model houses. The results were as follows: 1) Korean traditional housing design characteristics in aspects of space organization, such as harmony with nature, hierarchy, focal space, flexibility, were founded in apartment houses. 2) Korean traditional housing design characteristics in aspects of scale, material, color, and motif were mostly founded in the master bedroom and the living room in apartment house. 3) Also, the larger the size of apartment houses were, the more Korean traditional housing design characteristics were founded.

  • This project was designed to create a warmth space for Kwacheon House. To create warmth space, four factors - Natural Habitat, Timeless Comfort, Exotic Exuberance, Luxe Living - were hired to design concepts. At first, the walls were remained to support structure and to keep privacy and others were removed to draw in light to the inner space. Light is the main element to have variation and natural space. Ornaments that were motived by nature, were accepted in moulding, furniture and fixture to enhance the comfort. At last, classical lightings added up to harmonize between day and night.

  • The residual stress generated in the boron steel blank formed via hot press forming process was predicted by JMatPro, a material property modeler, and Abaqus. The numerical predictions were compared by the experimental measurements obtained by the instrumented indentation. Both the predicted and measured principal stresses monitored at the outer surface of central bending position were qualitatively in good agreement. It was concluded that the residual stresses generated from hot forming process is not negligible as it has been generally assumed, although the spring back deformation is quite small. This should be specially considered from the part design stage since the tensile nature of the residual stress exhibited on the surface may lead to the stress corrosion cracking.

Vibration behaviour of axially compressed cold-formed steel members

  • The objective of this work is to describe the main steps involved in the derivation of a GBT (Generalised Beam Theory) formulation to analyse the vibration behaviour of loaded cold-formed steel members and also to illustrate the application and capabilities of this formulation. In particular, the paper presents and discusses the results of a detailed investigation about the local and global free vibration behaviour of lipped channel simply supported columns. After reporting some relevant earlier GBT-based results dealing with the buckling and vibration behaviours of columns and load-free members, the paper addresses mostly issues concerning the variation of the column fundamental frequency and vibration mode nature/shape with its length and axial compression level. For validation purposes, some GBT-based results are also compared with values obtained by means of 4-node shell finite element analyses performed in the code ABAQUS.

Structural damage detection based on MAC flexibility and frequency using moth-flame algorithm

  • Vibration-based structural damage detection through optimization algorithms and minimization of objective function has recently become an interesting research topic. Application of various objective functions as well as optimization algorithms may affect damage diagnosis quality. This paper proposes a new damage identification method using Moth-Flame Optimization (MFO). MFO is a nature-inspired algorithm based on moth's ability to navigate in dark. Objective function consists of a term with modal assurance criterion flexibility and natural frequency. To show the performance of the said method, two numerical examples including truss and shear frame have been studied. Furthermore, Los Alamos National Laboratory test structure was used for validation purposes. Finite element model for both experimental and numerical examples was created by MATLAB software to extract modal properties of the structure. Mode shapes and natural frequencies were contaminated with noise in above mentioned numerical examples. In the meantime, one of the classical optimization algorithms called particle swarm optimization was compared with MFO. In short, results obtained from numerical and experimental examples showed that the presented method is efficient in damage identification.

Improved nonlinear modelling approach of simply supported PC slab under free blast load using RHT model

  • Due to the heterogeneity nature of the concrete, it is difficult to simulate the hyperdynamic behaviour and crack trajectory of concrete material when subjected to explosion loads. In this paper, a 3D nonlinear numerical study was conducted to simulate the hyperdynamic behaviour of concrete under various loading conditions using Riedel-Hiermaier-Thoma (RHT) model. Detailed calibration was conducted to identify the optimal parameters for the RHT model on the material level. For the component level, the calibrated RHT parameters were used to simulate the failure behaviour of plain concrete (PC) slab under free air blast load. The response was compared with an available experimental result. The results show the proposed numerical model can accurately simulate the crack trajectory and the failure mode of the PC slab under free air blast load.
