In recent materials industry, researches on the technology to manufacture super hydrophobic surface by effectively controlling the wettability of solid surface are expanding. Research on the fabrication of super hydrophobic surface has been studied not only for basic research but also for self-cleaning, anti-icing, anti-friction, flow resistance reduction in construction, textile, communication, military and aviation fields. A super hydrophobic surface is defined as a surface having a water droplet contact angle of 150 ° or more. The contact angle is determined by the surface energy and is influenced not only by the chemical properties of the surface but also by the rough structure. In this paper, maskless lithography using DMD, electro etching, anodizing and hot embossing are used to make the polymer resin PMMA surface super hydrophobic. In the fabrication of microstructure, DMDs are limited by the spacing of microstructure due to the structural limitations of the mirrors. In order to overcome this, maskless lithography using a transfer mechanism was used in this paper. In this paper, a super hydrophobic surface with micro and nano composite structure was fabricated. And the wettability characteristics of the micro pattern surface were analyzed.
This study aims to examine four machine learning (ML)-based models for their potential to estimate the splitting tensile strength (STS) of manufactured sand concrete (MSC). The ML models were trained and tested based on 310 experimental data points. Stone nanopowder content (SNPC), curing age (CA), and water-to-cement (W/C) ratio were also studied for their impacts on the STS of MSC. According to the results, the support vector regression (SVR) model had the highest correlation with experimental data. Still, all of the optimized ML models showed promise in estimating the STS of MSC. Both ML and laboratory results showed that MSC with 10% SNPC improved the STS of MSC.

The surface morphology of the front transparent conductive oxide (TCO) films plays a vital role in amorphous silicon thin film solar cells (a-Si TFSCs) due to their high transparency, conductivity and excellent light scattering properties. Recently, plasma textured glass surface morphologies received much attention for light trapping in a-Si TFSCs. We report various plasma textured glass surface morphologies for the high efficiency of a-Si TFSCs. Plasma textured glass surface morphologies showed high rms roughness, haze ratio with micro- and nano size surface features and are proposed for future high efficiency of a-Si TFSCs.
Effects of power ratio on the electrical and optical properties of Au based Ga-, B- codoped ZnO(GZOB) thin films were investigated. GZOB thin films on Au based PC flexible substrate were deposited at various power in the range from 50 to 125 W by DC magnetron sputtering. Au layer was fabricated to achieve good electrical conductivity. The presence of additional boron impurity leads to improve structural defects. Thus, the c-axis orientation along (002) plane was enhanced with the increasing of power ratio and the surface morphology of the films showed a homogeneous and nano-sized microstructure. GZOB films grown at 125W were investigated a low resistivity value of $1{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$ and a visible transmission of 80% with a thickness of 300nm.
Si:Ge alloy semiconductor nanocrystals (NCs) offer challenging opportunities for integrated optoelectronics/optoplasmonics, since they potentially allow unprecedentedly strong light-matter interaction in the wavelength range of the optical communication. In this talk, we discuss the recent research efforts of my laboratory to develop optoelectronic components based on individual group IV NCs. We present experimental demonstration of the individual NC optoelectronic devices, including broadband Si:Ge nanowire (NW) photodetectors, intra NW p-n diodes, Ge NC electrooptical modulators and near-field plasmonic NW detectors, where the unique size effects at the nanometer scales commonly manifest themselves. In particular, we demonstrated a scanning photocurrent imaging technique to investigate dynamics of photocarriers in individual Si:Ge NWs, which provides spatially and spectrally resolved local information without ensemble average. Our observations represent inherent size-effects of internal gain in semiconductor NCs, thereby provide a new insight into nano optoplasmonics.
Photonics offers a solution to data communication between logic devices in computing systems; however, the integration of photonic components into electronic chips is rather limited due to their size incompatibility. Dimensions of photonic components are therefore being forced to be scaled down dramatically to achieve a much higher system performance. To integrate these nano-photonic components, surface plasmon-polaritons and/or energy transfer mechanisms are used to form plasmonic chips. In this paper, the operating principle of plasmonic waveguide devices is reviewed within the mid-infrared spectral region at the 2 ${\mu}m$ to 5 ${\mu}m$ range, including lossless signal propagation by introducing gain. Experimental results demonstrate that these plasmonic devices, of sizes approximately half of the operating free-space wavelengths, require less gain to achieve lossless propagation. Through optimization of device performance by means of methods such as the use of new plasmonic waveguide materials that exhibit a much lower minimal loss value, these plasmonic devices can significantly impact electronic systems used in data communications, signal processing, and sensors industries.
Drain-induced barrier lowering (DIBL) is one of the main parameters employed to indicate the short-channel effect for nano metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs). We propose a new physical model of the DIBL effect under two-dimensional approximations based on the energy-conservation equation for channel electrons in FETs, which is different from the former field-penetration model. The DIBL is caused by lowering of the effective potential barrier height seen by the channel electrons because a lateral channel electric field results in an increase in the average kinetic energy of the channel electrons. The channel length, temperature, and doping concentration-dependent DIBL effects predicted by the proposed physical model agree well with the experimental data and simulation results reported in Nature and other journals.
As optical fiber communication grows, the fiber alignment become the focus of industrial attention. This greatly influence the overall production rates for the opto-electric products. We proposed multi-axis nano positioning stage for optical fiber alignment. This device has 3 DOF translation and sub nanometer resolution. This nano stage consist of 3 PZT-driven flexure stages which are stacked parallel. The displacement of it is measured with capacitance gauge and is controlled by computer-embedded main controller. The design process of flexure stage using FEM is proposed and the performance evaluation of this system is verified with experiments.
Recently, the manufacturer of microscopic structures along with the development of technology to produce electronics, communication and semiconductors allows various components to be smaller in size, with higher precision. Therefore, preoccupancy of micro/nano-level machining technology in order to product micro/nano-components and parts is key issue in the field of manufacturing. In this study, machinability of micro machining was studied through the machining of aluminum, brass and steel workpiece. Inspection of the cutting force variation patterns of large numbers of micro machining indicated that characteristics of the workpiece. Surface roughness prediction methods were developed by considering the variation of the static part of the feed direction cutting force. The accuracy of the proposed approaches were tested with experimental data and the agreement between the predictions and actual observations are addressed.
