OFET have require fine patterning technology for organic semiconductor solution process to be used in actual electronics. In this study, we compared and analyzed the soft lithography method which can form fine patterns more than the conventional spin coating method in order to confirm that it can have better electrical characteristics. The soft lithography method produced a flexible master mold using nano patterns on compact disc surfaces and obtained a 650 nm wide 2,7-Dioctyl [1] benzothieno [3,2-b] [1] benzo thiophene (C8-BTBT) nanowires. As a result, the field-effect mobility of devices fabricated by the spin coating method was 0.0036 cm2/Vs and mobility of devices produced by soft lithography method was 0.086 cm2/Vs, which was about 20 times higher than spin-coated devices and has better electrical performance.

Nanoimprint lithography (NIL) has attracted much attention due to its process simplicity, excellent patternability, process scalability, high productivity, and low processing cost for pattern formation. However, the pattern size that can be implemented on metal materials through conventional NIL technologies is generally limited to the micro level. Here, we introduce a novel hard imprint lithography method, extreme-pressure imprint lithography (EPIL), for the direct nano-to-microscale pattern formation on the surfaces of metal substrates with various thicknesses. The EPIL process allows reliable nanoscopic patterning on diverse surfaces, such as polymers, metals, and ceramics, without the use of ultraviolet (UV) light, laser, imprint resist, or electrical pulse. Micro/nano molds fabricated by laser micromachining and conventional photolithography are utilized for the nanopatterning of Al substrates through precise plastic deformation by applying high load or pressure at room temperature. We demonstrate micro/nanoscale pattern formation on the Al substrates with various thicknesses from 20 ㎛ to 100 mm. Moreover, we also show how to obtain controllable pattern structures on the surface of metallic materials via the versatile EPIL technique. We expect that this imprint lithography-based new approach will be applied to other emerging nanofabrication methods for various device applications with complex geometries on the surface of metallic materials.
Ultraviolet-nanoimprint lithography (UV-NIL) is a promising method for cost-effectively defining nanoscale structures at room temperature and low pressure. A 5${\times}$5${\times}$0.09 in. quartz stamp is fabricated using the etch process in which a Cr film was employed as a hard mask for transferring nanostructures onto the quartz plate. FAS(Fluoroalkanesilane) is used as a material for anti-adhesion surface treatment on the stamp and a thin organic film to improve adhesion on a wafer is formed by spin-coating. The low viscosity resin droplets with a nanometer scale volume are dispensed on the whole area of the coated wafer. The UV-NIL experiments have been performed using the EVG620-NIL. 370 nm - 1 m features on the stamp have been transferred to the thin resin layer on the wafer using the multi-dispensing method and UV-NIL process. We have measured the imprinted patterns and residual layer using SEM and AFM to evaluate the potential of the process.

We prepared 100 nm-thick CoNi composite silicide on a 70 nm-thick polysilicon substrate. Composite silicide laye.s were formed by rapid thermal annealing(RTA) at the temperatures of $700^{\circ}C,\;900^{\circ}C,\;1000^{\circ}C$ for 40 seconds. A Focused ion beam (FIB) was used to make nano-patterns with the operation range of 30 kV and $1{\sim}100$ pA. We investigated the change of thickness, line width, and the slope angle of the silicide patterns by FIB. More easily made with the FIB process than with the conventional polycide process. We successfully fabricated sub-100nm etched patterns with FIB condition of 30kv-30pA. Our result implies that we may integrate nano patterns with our newly proposed CoNi composite silicides.
Biodevices composed of biomolecular layer by mimicking the natural functions of cells and the interaction mechanisms of the constituted biomolecules have been developed in various industrial fields such as medical diagnosis, drug screening, electronic device, bioprocess, and environmental pollution detection. To construct biodevices such as bioelectronic devices (biomolecular diode, bio-information storage device and bioelectroluminescence device), protein chip, DNA chip, and cell chip, biomolecules including DNA, protein, and cells have been used. Fusion technology consisting of immobilization technology of biomolecules, micro/nano-scale patterning, detection technology, and MEMs technology has been used to construct the biodevices. Recently, nanotechnology has been applied to construct nano-biodevices. In this paper, the current technology status of biodevice including its fabrication technology and applications is described and the future development direction is proposed.

In this paper, a conceptual design and a detailed design of novel cylindrical magnetic levitation stage is introduced. This is came from planar-typed magnetic levitation stage. The proposed stage is composed of cylinder-typed permanent magnet array and semi-cylinder-typed 3 phase winding module. When a proper current is induced at winding module, a magnetic levitation force between the permanent magnet array and winding module is generated. The proposed stage can precisely move the cylinder to rotations and translations as well as levitations with the magnetic levitation force. This advantage is useful to make a nano patterning on the surface of cylindrical specimen by using electron beam lithography under vacuum. Two methods are used to calculate required magnetic levitation forces. The one is 2D FEM analysis, the other is mathematical modeling. This paper shown that results of two methods are similar. An assistant plate is introduced to reduce required currents of winding module for levitations in vacuum. The mathematical model of cylindrical magnetic levitation stage is used for dynamic simulation of magnetic levitations. A lead-lag compensator is used for control of the model. Simulation results shown that the detail designed model of the cylindrical magnetic levitation stage with the assistant plate can be controlled very well.
In this study, we propose a method for fabricating hydrophobic coatings/films with three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical nanostructured organic/inorganic composite surfaces. An epoxy-based, large-area 3D ordered nanoporous template is first prepared through an advanced photolithography technique called Proximity-field nanoPatterning (PnP). Then, a hierarchically structured surface is generated by densely impregnating the template with silica nanoparticles with an average diameter of 22 nm through dip coating. Due to the coexisting micro- and nano-scale roughness on the surface, the fabricated composite film exhibits a higher contact angle (>137 degrees) for water droplets compared to the reference samples. Therefore, it is expected that the materials and processes developed through this study can be used in various ways in the traditional coating/film field.

Since various methods to form well-aligned nano-/micro- patterns are underlying technologies to fabricate next generation wearable electronic devices, many efforts have been made to realize finer patterns in recent years. Among lots of patterning methods, the present invention includes a nano-transfer printing (n-TP) process which is advantageous in that a processing cost is low and high-resolution patterns can be formed within a short processing time. We successfully achieved pattern formation of highly ordered Pt lines with line-width of 250 nm, 500 nm, and $1{\mu}m$ on transparent and flexible substrates. In addition, we analyzed the durability of the patterns, showing excellent stability of line-shape even after a physical and repeated bending test of 500 times using a bending machine. As a result, it is expected that a n-TP process is very useful for forming various metal patterns, and it is also expected to be applied to wiring and interconnection technology of next generation flexible electronic devices.
We studied plasma etching of polycarbonate in $O_2/SF_6$, $O_2/N_2$ and $O_2/CH_4$. A capacitively coupled plasma system was employed for the research. For patterning, we used a photolithography method with UV exposure after coating a photoresist on the polycarbonate. Main variables in the experiment were the mixing ratio of $O_2$ and other gases, and RF chuck power. Especially, we used only a mechanical pump for in order to operate the system. The chamber pressure was fixed at 100 mTorr. All of surface profilometry, atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used for characterization of the etched polycarbonate samples. According to the results, $O_2/SF_6$ plasmas gave the higher etch rate of the polycarbonate than pure $O_2$ and $SF_6$ plasmas. For example, with maintaining 100W RF chuck power and 100 mTorr chamber pressure, 20 sccm $O_2$ plasma provided about $0.4{\mu}m$/min of polycarbonate etch rate and 20 sccm $SF_6$ produced only $0.2{\mu}m$/min. However, the mixed plasma of 60 % $O_2$ and 40 % $SF_6$ gas flow rate generated about $0.56{\mu}m$ with even low -DC bias induced compared to that of $O_2$. More addition of $SF_6$ to the mixture reduced etch of polycarbonate. The surface roughness of etched polycarbonate was roughed about 3 times worse measured by atomic force microscopy. However examination with scanning electron microscopy indicated that the surface was comparable to that of photoresist. Increase of RF chuck power raised -DC bias on the chuck and etch rate of polycarbonate almost linearly. The etch selectivity of polycarbonate to photoresist was about 1:1. The meaning of these results was that the simple capacitively coupled plasma system can be used to make a microstructure on polymer with $O_2/SF_6$ plasmas. This result can be applied to plasma processing of other polymers.

Nanostructures have a larger surface/volume ratio as well as unique mechanical, physical, chemical properties compared to existing bulk materials. Materials for biomedical implants require a good biocompatibility to provide a rapid recovery following surgical procedure and a stabilization of the region where the implants have been inserted. The biocompatibility is evaluated by the degree of the interaction between the implant materials and the cells around the implants. Recent researches on this topic focus on utilizing the characteristics of the nanostructures to improve the biocompatibility. Several studies suggest that the degree of the interaction is varied by the relative size of the nanostructures and cells, and the morphology of the surface of the implant [1, 2]. In this paper, we fabricate the nanowires on the Ti substrate for better biocompatible implants and other biomedical applications such as artificial internal organ, tissue engineered biomaterials, or implantable nano-medical devices. Nanowires are fabricated with two methods: first, nanowire arrays are patterned on the surface using e-beam lithography. Then, the nanowires are further defined with deep reactive ion etching (RIE). The other method is self-assembly based on vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) mechanism using Sn as metal-catalyst. Sn nanoparticle solutions are used in various concentrations to fabricate the nanowires with different pitches. Fabricated nanowries are characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), x-ray diffraction (XRD), and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Tthe biocompatibility of the nanowires will further be investigated.
