  • In this paper, we compared and analyzed the influence of the fading index and the number of branch of diversity in the Nakagami-m fading channel environment when the MRC diversity and the hybrid SC/MRC are applied to the DS/CDMA system. We considered that the number of branches were 2,3, and 4, respectively and applied an individual diversity type according to the number of branches, when nakagami fading index(m) were 1 and 2. We found that when the Nakagami fading index m is small, that is to say, when fading is inferior, the application of a hybrid SC/MRC diversity Rake receiver is efficient; however, when the fading environment is good, the application of the MRC diversity Rake receiver is efficient. As a result, we verified that when the actual communication environment is inferior, the hybrid SC/MRC diversity that selects a strong signal to be received on an individual number of branches could replace the MRC diversity, as a method to achieve a similar performance by reducing the complexity of the system.

  • An alternative solution to the problem of obtaining acceptable performances on a fading channel is the diversity technique, which is widely used to combat the fading effects of time-variant channels. The symbol error probability of M-ary DPSK (MDPSK), PSK (MPSK) and QAM (MQAM) systems using 2 branches from the branch with the largest signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) at the output of L-branch selection combining(SC), i.e., SC2 in frequency-nonselective slow Nakagami fading channels with an additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) is derived theoretically. These performance evaluations allow designers to determine M-ary modulation methods against Nakagami fading channels.

  • A decode-and-forward system with an energy-harvesting relay is analyzed for the case when an arbitrary number of independent interference signals affect the communication at both the relay and the destination nodes. The scenario in which the relay harvests energy from both the source and interference signals using a time switching scheme is analyzed. The analysis is performed for the interference-limited Nakagami-m fading environment, assuming a realistic nonlinearity for the electronic devices. The closed-form outage probability expression for the system with a nonlinear energy harvester is derived. An asymptotic expression valid for the case of a simpler linear harvesting model is also provided. The derived analytical results are corroborated by an independent simulation model. The impacts of the saturation threshold power, the energy-harvesting ratio, and the number and power of the interference signals on the system performance are analyzed.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel protocol called a Multi-hop Diversity Transmission protocol in which the retransmission is realized by a relay that is Nearest to a current Source (MDTNS). We derive the mathematical expressions of the packet error rate (PER) and the average number of transmissions over Nakagami-m fading channels, and verify them by Monte Carlo simulations. The simulation results show that the MDTNS protocol improves the performance of the network in terms of PER when compared to the Multi-hop Diversity Transmission protocol in which the retransmission is done by a relay that is Nearest to Destination (MDTND) and to the conventional multi-hop transmission (CMT) protocol.

  • The physical properties of a seafloor sediment have been used as a basic data for the ocean survey. Conventional methods such as a coring, a drilling, and a grabbing have been used to explore the physical properties but these methods have a number of shortcomings as it is time consuming, expensive and spatially limited. To overcome these limitations, seafloor sediment classification using acoustic signals has been studied actively. In this paper, we obtained the backscattered signal from the seafloor sediment using an echo sounder which is one kind of seafloor topography equipment. Nakagami probability density function of the backscattered signals from the seafloor sediment was computed and a Nakagami parameter was compared with the physical properties of the seafloor sediment. We have confirmed that Nakagami parameter, m is correlated with the physical properties of a seafloor sediment. This study will be utilized as a basic data of the seafloor sediment research.

  • In this paper, I analyzed array organization of MIMO channel antenna and effect of operation environment by evaluating average BER from linear Space-Time Block Code orthogonal design and suggests designing condition of MT antenna for improved BER and the fading index m. To analyze system performance, I used M-PSK and M-QAM modulation, and to use analysis equations I used integrated by Nakagami fading variable, non-integrated Nakagami fading variable. We can get the organization of channel array by using mathematical calculation on matrix. STBE BER performance will decrease as AOA spreading decrease and such loss can be compensated from extending antenna spacing, and changing array organization.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the performance of a hybird DS/SFH(DirectSequencySlow FrequencyHopping) Spread Spectrum system with BFSK modulation over Nakagamim fading channel with multitone jamming. The performance of the system was improved when a frequency bowing rate increased. In case that process gain of hybrid DS/SFH Spread Spectrum system to be fixed, the hybrid DS/SFH Spread Spectrum takes the low bit error probability than a DS Spread Spectrum system. Also, when the fading index m increases, the fading effect decrease, when the JSR(jamming to signal power ratio) increases ,the performance of a hybrid DS/SFH Spread Spectrum system improved than DS Spread Spectrum system. The result, we have been proved that performance of a hybrid DS/SFH Spread Spectrum was superior to DS Spend Spectrum system over Nakagamim fading with tome jamming.

  • In this paper, we are considered Nakagami-m fading, which can model variable multipath mobile radio communication channel, in DS-CDMA system. System modeling using nakagami -m fading is suited for urban mobile communication channel with multipath. We used adaptive serial search PN code acquisition scheme and derived the detection probability($P_D$) and false alarm probability($P_FA$) which have influence on code acquisition time, over Nakagami-m fading. Detection probability($P_D$) and false alarm probability($P_FA$) are detection variable to decide PN code acquisition time and should use to calculate mean and variance. of acquisition time. From computer simulation, we analyzed mean and variance about PN code acquisition of fading channel. Then we can apply it to the H/W design of mobile communication.

  • Using a method recently reported in the literature for analyzing the bit error probability (BEP) performance of noncoherent Mary orthogonal signals with square-law combining in the presence of independent and identically distributed Nakagami-m faded paths, we are able to reformulate this method so as to apply to a generalized fading channel in which the fading in each path need not be identically distributed nor even distributed ac-cording to the same family of distribution. The method leads to exact expressions for the BEP in the form of a finite-range integral whose integrand involves the moment generating function of the combined signal-to-noise ratio and which can therefore be readily evaluated numerically. The mathematical formalism is illustrated by applying the method to some selected numerical examples of interest showing the impact of the multipath intensity profile (MIP) as well as the fading correlation profile (FCP) on the BEP performance of M-ary orthogonal signal over Nakagami-m fading channels. Thses numerical results show that both MIP and FCP induce a non-negligible degradition in the BEP and have therefore to be taken into account for the accurate prediction of the performance of such systems.

  • In this paper, we investigate the performance of convolutional coded DS/CDMA system equipped with a noncoherent M-ary orthogonal modulation scheme, and operating in multi-user environments over slow and freuency nonselective Nakagami-m fading channels with an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). An expression for the pariwise error probability that can be used to compute the upper bound of coded system is first derived. performance of the DS/CDMA system with and without the convolutional codes are then compared. We have obsered that the convolutional coded can compensate the degradation quite well in multi-user situations over the Nakagami fading channels with the AWGN. For the case of an extreme fading, however, it has been seen that the convolutional code reaches its limit to improve the overall system performance as the number of users increse.
