  • In this paper, we want to able to reduce the time effectively about the analysis of protocol and development of protocol converter in industrial network. For this purpose, we developed the user protocol converter that can be to analysing the communication protocol in the industrial network. and also that is able to converting to user protocol and transmitting to another network. The developed user protocol converter was consist of S/W and H/W, and is supporting the Modbus, the NMEA0183 and the ethernet. The hardware main processor was used the AVR128, and placed the serial communication part and the ethernet part in converter board. The experiment results, we acquired very high transmission rate and conversion rate.

  • IEC61162-3 known as NMEA2000 protocol is approved as a standard network of SOLAS ship by ISO and used for the instrument network which exchanges data in real-time. For easy the development of ship network equipments, this study is focused on the development of SoC which can convert to NMEA2000 protocol from various kind of protocols such as TCP/IP, NMEA0183, RS422 and others using FPGA and u-Blaze. In this paper, we composed NMEA2000 protocol stack on FPGA and verified NMEA2000 network communication of FPGA system by connecting with commercialized devices through PC Hyper-terminal and network monitoring program.

  • With the development of various IT technologies, data generated in the ship can be controlled through CAN communication, autonomous operation, and information provision in various situation. In addition, electronic navigation vessels with various functions have emerged, and navigation and communication equipment used in these vessels are mainly following the NMEA standard. Currently, NMEA-0183 is still mainly used, but more efficient multimedia transmission processing method is needed for multimedia transmission and USN equipment compatible using NMEA-2000 standard. Furthermore, Ethernet-based ship control is required. However, this paper proposes a multimedia transmission scheme to be smoothly linked with existing ship devices by utilizing CAN communication that can be easily used in the ship.

  • The National Marine Electronics Association(NMEA) is nonprofit-making cooperation composed with manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers and educational institutions. We use the basic port of equipment in order to process the signal from NMEA signal using equipment. When we don't have enough one, we use the multi-port for processing. However, we need to have module development simulation which could multiplex and provide NMEA related signal that we could solve the problems in multi-port application and exclusive equipment generation for a number of signal. For now, we don't have any case or product using NMEA multiplexer so that we import expensive foreign equipment or embody NMEA signal transmission program like software, using multi-port. These have problems since we have to pay lots ci money and build separate processing part for every application programs. Besides, every equipment generating NMEA signal are from different manufactures and have different platform so that it could cause double waste and loss of recourse. For making up for it, I suggest the NMEA multiplexer embodiment, which could independently move by reliable process and high performance single hardware module, improve the memory efficiency of module by designing the optimized Queue, and keep having reliability for realtime communication among the equipment such as main input sensor equipment Gyrocompass, Echo-sound, and GPS.

  • GIS(Geographic Information System) based Positioning technique uses geographic information to predict which satellites are visible or invisible. GPS positioning has poor positioning accuracy in dense urban area where tall buildings block the satellite signals. In this paper, we proposed GIS based Advanced Positioning technique of Mobile GPS to resolve this problem. Particularly, this technique improves positioning accuracy in dense urban area. It is consist of ephemeris and GIS server. We will inversely estimate pseudorange by using NMEA-0183 output data of mobile GPS. After that, we can find more accurate position by using ephemeris and GIS information.

  • Recently, NMEA2000 became the de facto standard of the communication protocol for the instrument level network in vessels, and it is anticipated that most of the vessels will be equipped with the sensors and actuators based on this protocol. The conventional serial communication specifications such as RS-232, RS-485, or even NMEA0183 are single-talker/multiple-listener and interconnection among multiple sensors and/or actuators usually results in a bundle of wires. On the other hand, NMEA2000 is a true bus type(multiple-talker/multiple-listener) protocol and theoretically up to 256 instruments can be hot-plugged. With the advent of the protocol, it is necessary to consider a new type of monitoring system for the instruments in vessels: In most traditional serial communication environments, a dedicated monitor or user interface was necessary for each sensor or actuator as it was simply not easy to collect data in a single place. With NMEA2000, the collection of various types of information is simple. An embedded system can be employed to combine, to arrange and to display informations from various types of devices. Assuming that the actuators and sensors on a vessel are interconnected by NMEA2000 standard, we devise a tentative interactive vessel monitoring system in which the following 4 kinds of informations are collected and delivered: the navigation, engine, weather and tanks informations.

  • This paper is the study of BNWAS based on TLC. The functionality of BNWAS and its operations are investigated through its international standard. But the BNWAS to be used currently in the ship have difficulty in monitoring. Several kinds of data are generated from many equipments in BNWAS, such as NMEA-0183 data or NMEA-2000. Although these data are mainly used for the safe navigation of ship, their usability may be enhanced if they are managed to control the BNWAS equipment with sensors. The purpose of this system is prevent the marine accidents on sailing voyages due to drowsiness of watchers. On Night sailing, watcher is collected the navigation information from multiple devices and he determines the safe operation of the ship through continuous monitoring.

  • Domestic use, or embody program that transmit NMEA protocol using multi port as software and is using because there is no fee and product that develop NMEA protocol Multiplexer, import mounting for foreign climax present. These method is paid or there is problem that must make out special processing part in each application program. Also, each mountings that display NMEA protocol can cause double resources waste and damage etc. because manufacturing firm and platform are different. Can act separatively as single hardware module of reliable processing method and high efficiency to supplement this in this treatise, and because using design of optimized cue, heighten memory efficiency of module, and proposed NMEA protocol Multiplexer that can keep high trustability of Come on, deviation compass, echo sound, mountings of GPS and so on and real time communication that is main input sensor equipment about embodiment.

  • This paper deals with development of an autopilot system for leisure yacht based on NMEA 2000 network and android platform. The developed system can operate both for manual steering and automatic navigation mode. In automatic steering mode, after manipulation of commands which are NMEA 0183 sentences by android platform, the developed system translates and sends the packets through NMEA 2000 network. Then the controller which is connected to NMEA 2000 network receives the commands and controls the boat's rudder system automatically. The automatic steering mode is achieved by cooperation of two controllers; one for controlling the rudder system, and the other for controlling the vessel's heading. To control the vessel's rudder and heading angle two PID controllers are developed with an adjustable dead-band gain. Also, in order to eliminate the steady-state error occurred by applying dead-band, an integral controller which specifically supervises the system's behavior inside the dead-band area is developed. In this paper, at the first stage, simulations are accomplished using computer in order to examine the feasibility of the proposed based on simulation results. In the next step, the system on a real hydraulic steering model is implemented and at the end the performance examination by implementing it on a real boat and doing test navigation is executed.
