  • Recently, climate change risk assessment has been discussed as a medium process for making climate change adaptation policies in the research field of climate change adaptation. Climate change risk assessment has been understood to have an intermediary role among impact assessment, vulnerable assessment and policy, and is used in the process of devising adaptation policies in the United Kingdom (UK). This paper quantitatively assessed the risks of climate change in Korea, applied the methods used in the UK, underwent the classification process and suggested implications of Korean adaptation policies. A survey of experts, based on Delphi's method and the classification criterion developed by Klinke and Renn(2002), was also carried out. A list of climate risks was created from the climate change impact and vulnerability assessment report of Korea, first national adaptation policy of Korea, and general climate risks of the UK. From the results, 42 risks out of total 125 risks were selected based on their importance. The assessed risks with factors, such as high impact and urgency, are related to repeated and large scale damage from storms and floods caused by abnormal or extreme weather events. Ecological changes and social infrastructure risks were engaged as required as a policy response for medium to longer term. As for making the classification, types of climate risks were suggested to manage the basic capacity in relation to social trust, triggering mechanism and responsibility. Following suggestions are put forward as the base of autonomous adaptation: increasing the capacity of civil society, mutual trust and civil participation in adaptation policy process.

  • SWIFT has designed Trade Services Utility(TSU) to meet the new paradigm of electronic trade. The Trade Services Utility is a matching and workflow application that sits on the SWIFT network. The TSU is designed to help banks offer advanced supply chain services to their corporate customers who are involved in open account trading. Nowadays, the Bank payment obligation(BPO) can optionally be included in a baseline by mutual consent. The BPO is an irrevocable and conditional obligation of an obligor bank(buyers bank) to pay a specified amount to seller's bank according to an established baseline of a single TSU transaction. Therefore, SWIFT enables its customers to automate and standardise financial transactions, thereby lowering costs, reducing operational risk and eliminating inefficiencies from their operations. Whereas, Banks can use the core functionality of the Trade Services Utility to offer competitive services that complement existing services. But SWIFT need to come up with the measures of activating the TSU BPO. So, this paper is to introduce TSU BPO and check the measures for the activation of the TSU BPO under the electronic trade environment.

  • In life insurance the goal of medical examination is to exclude medical, environmental adverse-selection to the utmost. And keeping the principle of equity and the homogeneity of risk in the group of the insured, you are able to manage the company reasonably and realize the orginal ideal of life insurance, namely, the mutual assistance. And yet, the cases of the misrepresentation have been occurred frequently so far. As a result of them, the development of life insurance industry has been obstructed, and public criticism has been caused. Carrying medical examination, you have to know how the representation is important, And citing what the misrepresentation and false representation influenced the results, I want you to refer to medical exam-business.

  • In the recent environment of globalization where fierce competitions exist between manufacturers, SRM(Supplier Relationship Management) plays important role in the strategies of companies, and managements of companies try their best efforts in establishing the strategy to accomplish the innovative relationship between supply chain channels. The structure of the partnerships we develop with not only customers but also suppliers will in many cases determine the degree of success of the relationship. A successful partnership provides an opportunity for shared risk while maximizing the opportunity for mutual success whether it's with supplier. To follow this paper show how SLV(Supplier Lifetime Value) can be used to structure the supplier in automotive part manufacturer, This method of selection is described, and a detailed example of how SLY can be used and allocation of order quantity for the selected suppliers also are provided.

  • Various researchers conducted the research on two-factor authentication suitable for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) after Das first proposed two-factor authentication combining the smart card and password. After then, To improve the security of user authentication, elliptic curve cryptography(ECC)-based authentication protocols have been proposed. Jiang et al. proposed a privacy-aware two-factor authentication protocol based on ECC for WSM for resolving various problems of ECC-based authentication protocols. However, Jiang et al.'s protocol has the vulnerabilities on a lack of mutual authentication, a risk of SID modification and a lack of sensor anonymity, and user's ID exposed on sensor node Therefore, this paper proposed security enhanced privacy-aware two-factor authentication protocol for wireless sensor networks to solve the problem of Jiang et al.'s protocol, and security analysis was conducted for the proposed protocol.

  • Gastritis is a common but a serious disease with a potential risk of developing carcinoma. Helicobacter pylori infection is reported as the most common cause of gastritis, but other genetic and genomic factors exist, especially single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Association studies between SNPs and gastritis disease are important, but results on epistatic interactions from multiple SNPs are rarely found in previous genome-wide association (GWA) studies. In this study, we performed computational GWA case-control studies for gastritis in Korea Associated Resource (KARE) data. By transforming the resulting SNP epistasis network into a gene-gene epistasis network, we also identified potential gene-gene interaction factors that affect the susceptibility to gastritis.

  • Many types of disasters are related to environmental problems. Today, frequently occurring disasters and global environmental problems have begun to threaten human life and welfare. Consequently, building sustainable communities requires assessing relationships between environmental problems and disasters using a broad, open approach and with a long-term perspective. This paper attempts to identify the need for conceptualizing disasters and environmental problems together by comparing mechanisms of both disasters and environmental problems, and attempts to integrate both of these seemingly different types of phenomena as similar types of risk threatening human existence. Based on this work, a chart is proposed for qualitatively organizing disasters, environmental problems and their mutual influences, as well as providing a framework for potential quantitative analysis. It is hoped this research serves to contribute to effective mitigation to both disasters and environmental problems in today's age of global environmental issues.

  • A large volume of patient data is generated from various devices used in healthcare applications. With increase in the volume of data generated in the healthcare industry, more wellness monitoring is required. A cloud-enabled analysis of healthcare data that predicts patient risk factors is required. Machine learning techniques have been developed to address these medical care problems. A novel technique called the radix-trie-based Tanimoto kernel regressive infomax boost classification (RT-TKRIBC) technique is introduced to analyze the heterogeneous health data in the cloud to predict the health risks and send alerts. The infomax boost ensemble technique improves the prediction accuracy by finding the maximum mutual information, thereby minimizing the mean square error. The performance evaluation of the proposed RT-TKRIBC technique is realized through extensive simulations in the cloud environment, which provides better prediction accuracy and less prediction time than those provided by the state-of-the-art methods.

  • Mobile social networking applications are getting increasingly popular among today's mobile applications. Mobile users find their old or new friends anywhere or anytime through mobile social network (MSN) services. MSN uses matchmaking mechanisms to discover mutual interests among different people. To discover friends in MSN, a user must share his/her private information which can be a risk for his/her personal privacy as this information can be learned by a malicious or semi honest user. In this paper we give a brief survey on MSN that includes MSN categories, components, architecture and applications. In the rest of the paper we discuss the matchmaking protocols. Finally we give some suggestions to improve the previous protocols.

  • Since the mobile platform and the manipulator mounted on it move at the same time in a mobile manipulator, the risk of mutual collision increases. Most of the studies on collision avoidance of mobile manipulators cannot be applied to differential drive type mobile platforms or the end-effector tends to deviate from the desired trajectory for collision avoidance. In this study, a collision avoidance algorithm based on null space projection (CANS) that solves these two problems is proposed. To this end, a modified repulsive force that overcomes the non-holonomic constraints of a mobile platform is generated by adding a virtual repulsive force in the direction of its instantaneous velocity. And by converting this repulsive force into a repulsive velocity and applying it to the null space, the end-effector of the robot avoids a collision while moving along its original trajectory. The proposed CANS algorithm showed excellent performance through self-collision avoidance tests and door opening tests.
