  • In discrete-time controlled system, sampling time is one of the critical parameters for control performance. It is useful to employ different sampling rates into the system considering the feasibility of measuring system or actuating system. The systems with the different sampling rates in their input and output channels are named multirate system. Even though the original continuous-time system is time-invariant, it is realized as time-varying state equation depending on multirate sampling mechanism. By means of the augmentation of the inputs and the outputs over one period, the time-varying system equation can be constructed into the time-invariant equation. The two multirate formulations have some trade-offs in the simplicity to construct the controller, the control performance. It is good issue to determine the suitable formulation in consideration of performance of them. In this paper, the two categories of multirate formulations will be compared in terms of the linear quadratic (LQ) cost function. The results are used to select the multirate formulation and the sampling rates suitable to the desired control performance.

  • In this paper, we design a multirate controller for a given multirate sampled-data system which has a periodic output measurement scheme. A sufficient condition for maintaining observability in multirate sampled-data systems is given first. The design strategy for disturbance rejection is proposed. The proposed controller has IMC structure, and can be deomposed into a disturbance estimator and the inverse of fast plants.

  • This Paper addressed to some aspects of a multirate filtered strapdown INS which is aided by a tracking radar. A new method to determine the sample periods of a multirate filter has been described. The Monte Carlo simulation has been conducted with the optimum sample periods to determine the estimation precision capabilities in a realistic environment. The multirate filtered strapdown navigation system has advantages when the computation time is severely restricted.

  • A typical type-1 positioning servomechanism is theoretically analyzed as a multirate sampled-data system which contains two or more signals sampled at different rates by the Z-transform method. And also it is analyzed as a continuous system by using the Younsei 101 Electronic Analog Computer. Comparing the solution of the multirate sampled data system with that of the continuous system to a step input, it is concluded that the response time of the output of the multirate sampled-data system is reduced by a multirate controller, the ripple between samples is lessened and all the transients are diminished within one period.

  • A multirate state feedback control (MRSFC) method is proposed for systems sensitive to disturbance and noise based on the multirate estimator design using current estimator. MRSFC updates the controller output slower than the measurement sampling fiequency of system output by a lifting factor $R=T_c/T_s$ The closed-loop MRSFC system is less sensitive to disturbance and noise due to filtering effect than the conventional single-rate control system The multirate estimator gain can be obtained by solving a conventional pole placement problem such that MRSFC has the same spectrum of eigenvalues in the s-plane as the single-rate control. We applied the proposed multirate state feedback controller to a galvanometer servo system Simulation and experimental results show that settling and tracking performances are improved compared with a conventional single-rate pole placement control (PPC).

  • This paper presents a multirate state feedback control (MRSFC) method for systems sensitive to disturbance and noise based on the multirate estimator design using the current estimator. MRSFC updates the controller output slower than the measurement sampling frequency of system output by a lifting factor R=T$\sub$c//T$\sub$s/. The closed-loop MRSFC system is less sensitive to disturbance and noise due to filtering effect than the conventional single-rate control system. The multirate estimator gain is obtained from solving a conventional pole placement problem such that MRSFC has the same spectrum of eigenvalues in the s-plane as the single-rate control. In this paper, an alternative time-invariant model is proposed, the design method and the stability of the LQG (Linear Quadratic Gaussian) control scheme for the realization are presented. The realization is flexible to construct to the sampling rate variations, the closed-loop system is shown to be asymptotically stable even in the inter-sampling intervals and it has smaller computation in on-line control loop than the previous time-invariant realizations.

  • Instead of the extended Kalman filter, the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) has been used in nonlinear systems without initial accurate state estimates over the last decade because the UKF is robust against large initial estimation errors. However, in a multirate integrated system, such as an inertial navigation system (INS)/Global Positioning System (GPS) integrated navigation system, it is difficult to implement a UKF-based navigation algorithm in a low-grade or mid-grade microcontroller, owing to a large computational burden. To overcome this problem, this letter proposes a modified UKF that has a reduced computational burden based on the basic idea that the change of probability distribution for the state variables between measurement updates is small in a multirate INS/GPS integrated navigation filter. The performance of the modified UKF is verified through numerical simulations.

  • In the Multirate DS/CDMA system based on VSL(Variable Spreading Length), the problem of the multiple access interference and effect similar to near-far effects in current system is generated. This problem can degrade performance of the system badly. Therefore, In this paper we proposed Hybrid Interference Cancellation to overcome this problems, Simulation result presents that the proposed Hybrid Interference Cancellation has the better performance than the conventional decorrelator, Parallel Interference Cancellation.

  • In this paper, the RBF-based multiuser detector (MUD) is proposed for a multirate DS/CDMA system. The performance of RBF-based MUD is compared with that of many suboptimal multiuser detectors in terms of bit error probability. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the RBF-based multiuser detector outperforms decorrelating detector, and achieves near-optimum performance in several situations. The results in this paper can be applied to design of MUD fur a multirate DS/CDMA system.
