As the improvements of service quality is becoming an important issue the, interior noise level of a train is an important factor of comfortable ride. To reduce the interior noise level, noise sources of the train need to be removed. However, in case with a structure of large scale and multiple noise sources, an estimation of influences of major noise sources, with indentification of its traveling paths needs to be performed. In current state, to improve the interior noise reduction, consideration of sound transmission loss of the train body prior to manufacturing is usually performed. In this study, the sound transmission loss of the train body of new model train of seoul metro's line no.2 under test opeation is measured and modeling of the train body is performed. And train interior noise is predicted using the measured values.
Water resources management depends on dealing inherent uncertainties stemming from climatic and hydrological inputs and models. Dealing with these uncertainties remains a challenge. Streamflow forecasts basically contain uncertainties arising from model structure and initial conditions. Recent enhancements in climate forecasting skill and hydrological modeling provide an breakthrough for delivering improved streamflow forecasts. However, little consideration has been given to methodologies that include coupling both multiple climate and multiple hydrological models, increasing the pool of streamflow forecast ensemble members and accounting for cumulative sources of uncertainty. The approach here proposes integration and coupling of global climate models (GCM), multiple regional climate models, and numerous hydrological models to improve streamflow forecasting and characterize system uncertainty through generation of ensemble forecasts.

Consumables used in Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) have been played important role to improve quality and productivity. Since the properties of consumables constantly change with various reasons, such as shelf time, manufactured time, lot to lot variation from supplier and so on, CMP results are not constant during the process. Also, CMP process results are affected by multiple sources from wafer, conditioner, pad and slurry. Therefore, multiple sensing systems are required to monitor CMP process variation. In this paper, the authors focus on development of monitoring system for CMP process which consist of force, temperature and displacement sensor to measure the signal from CMP process. With monitoring systems mentioned above, complex CMP phenomena can be investigated more clearly.

We investigate the opposite of artificial noise (AN)-assisted communication in multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) wiretap channels for the multiuser case by taking the side of the eavesdropper. We first define a framework for an AN-assisted multiuser multiple-input-multiple-output (MU-MIMO) system, for which eavesdropping methods are proposed with and without knowledge of legitimate users' channel state information (CSI). The proposed method without CSI is based on a modified joint approximate diagonalization of eigen-matrices algorithm, which eliminates permutation indetermination and phase ambiguity, as well as the minimum description length algorithm, which blindly estimates the number of secret data sources. Simulation results show that both proposed methods can intercept information effectively. In addition, the proposed method without legitimate users' CSI performs well in terms of robustness and computational complexity.
In this paper, we consider a relaying system which employs a single relay in a wireless network with distributed sources and destinations. Here, all source, destination, and relay nodes are equipped with multiple antennas. For amplify-and-forward relay systems, we confirm the achievable sum rate through a joint multiple source precoders and a single relay filter design. To this end, we propose a new linear processing scheme in terms of maximizing the sum rate performance by applying a blockwise relaying method combined with geometric programming techniques. By allowing the global channel knowledge at the source nodes, we show that this joint design problem is formulated as a standard geometric program, which can guarantees a global optimal value under the modified sum rate criterion. Simulation results show that the proposed blockwise relaying scheme with the joint power allocation method provides substantial sum rate gain compared to the conventional schemes.
This paper presents a new simplified method for finding the multiple load flow solutions and through their solutions the voltage stability can be evaluated. Line flow($P_{ij}$, $Q_{ij}$) may be formulated with the second-order equations for $V_{i}^{2}$ in polar coordinates or two circle equations for $e_{i}$ and $f_{i}$ in rectangular coordinates. Based on this feature, multiple load flow solutions are calculated with simple works, results of multiple load flow solutions are used for sensitivity analysis of voltage stability. Also, in the case that reactive power sources is considered, method of evaluating the voltage stability is introduced. The proposed method was validated to 2-bus and IEEE 6-bus system.
This paper studies a dual-hop multiple-access relay network where two independent source nodes transmit information to a common destination node with the aid of multiple single-antenna amplify-and-forward relays. Each relay node is subject to an individual power constraint. We focus on the design of distributed beamforming schemes for the relays to support the transmission rate requirements of the two sources. To this end, we first characterize the achievable rate region for this network via solving a sequence of corner point optimization problems proposed in this paper. We also develop several low-complexity suboptimal schemes in closed form. Two inner bounds of the achievable rate region are theoretically shown to be approximately optimal in two special scenarios. Finally, numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approaches.
In hybrid renewable power systems, the use of a multiple-input dc/dc converter (MIC) leads to simpler circuit and lower cost, when compared to the conventional use of several single-input converters. This paper proposed a novel three-input buck/boost/buck-boost converter, which can be used in applications with various values of input voltage. The energy sources in this converter can deliver power to the load either simultaneously or individually in one switching period. The steady relationship, the power management strategy and the small-signal circuit model of this converter have been derived. With decoupling technology, modeling and regulator design can be obtained under multi-loop control modes. Finally, three generating methods of a multiple-input buck/boost/buck-boost converter is given, and this method can be extended to the other multiple-input dc/dc converters.
This study evaluated the abundance and antimicrobial resistance of Escherichia coli in oysters Crassostrea gigas and major inland pollution sources sampled in 2014-2015 from Jaranman-Saryangdo on the southern coast of Korea. The ranges of the geometric mean of E. coli concentrations in oysters and major inland pollution sources were <20-29.8 MPN/100 g and 7.5-137.2 MPN/100 g, respectively. We isolated 247 strains of E. coli (28 from oysters and 247 from major inland pollution sources) and examined the antimicrobial resistance patterns of all isolates. Isolates from both sources were highly resistant to rifampin (99.5-100%) and cephalothin (70.8-78.6%). The resistance rate was higher in E. coli isolated from oysters those from inland pollution sources. Multiple resistance against at least four antimicrobials was observed in 85.7% and 21.0% of the oyster and major inland pollution sources isolates, respectively.
The aeroelastic stability of bridge decks equipped with multiple tuned mass dampers is studied. The problem is attacked in the time domain, by representing self-excited loads with the aid of aerodynamic indicial functions approximated by truncated series of exponential filters. This approach allows to reduce the aeroelastic stability analysis in the form of a direct eigenvalue problem, by introducing an additional state variable for each exponential term adopted in the approximation of indicial functions. A general probabilistic framework for the optimal robust design of multiple tuned mass dampers is proposed, in which all possible sources of uncertainties can be accounted for. For the purposes of this study, the method is also simplified in a form which requires a lower computational effort and it is then applied to a general case study in order to analyze the control effectiveness of regular and irregular multiple tuned mass dampers. A special care is devoted to mistuning effects caused by random variations of the target frequency. Regular multiple tuned mass dampers are seen to improve both control effectiveness and robustness with respect to single tuned mass dampers. However, those devices exhibit an asymmetric behavior with respect to frequency mistuning, which may weaken their feasibility for technical applications. In order to overcome this drawback, an irregular multiple tuned mass damper is conceived which is based on unequal mass distribution. The optimal design of this device is finally pursued via a full domain search, which evidences a remarkable robustness against frequency mistuning, in the sense of the simplified design approach.
