Modeling Service based on XML Schema for MPEG Multimedia Middleware

  • Recently MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) has started a new standardization activity called MPEG Multimedia Middleware (M3W). The M3W supports multimedia applications Independent of hardware and software such as operating systems so that the portability and interoperability of multimedia applications are greatly improved. In doing so, the M3W adopts the concept of a service-based middleware. The M3W standardizes a set of multimedia Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and their implementations can be pro vided by third parties In the form of services. In this paper, we introduce the usage of XML metadata in describing the standard multimedia APIs and third party's services and also we explain the role of the XML Schema within the M3W in providing transparent access from application to the M3W services.

Design and Implement of E-textbook Authoring System Supporting Open Resource based on Original Contents Tracing Model (원본 추적 모델 기반의 오픈 리소스를 지원하는 강의 교재 저작 시스템의 설계 및 개발)

  • This study proposes web-based authoring system for the lecturers who published textbooks by inserting external open resource. When lecturer publishes textbooks, the system makes it easier to utilize external resources by providing an open resource pool that the lecturer can search not only his own resources but external resources. In addition, we designed an open resource pool based on Original Contents Tracing Model to check whether the scrapped resource is changed or not in the future. Open Resource Pool allows inserting text, images and videos by searching multimedia, and stores metadata for the follow-up management. We made the system to determine the change of the resource using the metadata stored in the tracking system. Through this research, we confirmed that it is possible to publish textbooks by utilizing a variety of open resources on the web and revise the book by tracing the scrapped resources.

  • The Musical Slide Show MAF, which currently being standardized by MPEG, conveys the concept of combining several established standard technologies in a single file format. It defines the format of packing up MP3 audio data, along with MPEG-7 Simple Metadata Profile and MPEG-21 Digital Item Declaration metadata; with JPEC images and optional text, and synchronizes them all together to create a slideshow of JPEC image data associated to MP3 audio data during the audio playback. The implementation of Musical Slide Show MAF can be a music karaoke file where users can sing along while listening to the music, view the JPEG slideshow and reading the lyrics; or a story-telling file where users can listen to the narrated story by looking at the related illustration slideshow of the story In this paper we present the tool to producing the Musical Slide Show MAF contents. Regardless the knowledge of user on the MAF file format, the authoring tool simplify the manner of packaging several multimedia contents into single file.

  • In this paper, we propose from media production environment using meta-data based on advanced authoring format(AAF). The media production system becomes digitalized since the image degradation and data storage should be minimized. For transmitting various contents without loss of meta-data. Editing decision list(EDL)is used in the current broadcasting and cinema environment, which results in inefficient performance. We compared the proposed AAF with the existing EDL cut, and tested successful transmission of the metadata. Based on the experimental results, the proposed AAF contains more video information than EDL.

  • 최근, IT 기술의 발달로 다양한 스마트 디바이스 및 서비스 증가로 빅 데이터 시대가 도래되었다. 이에 빅 데이터를 저장하기 위한 많은 연구들이 진행되고 있지만 데이터 저장을 위한 측면에 중점을 두어 본질적인 서버 운용에 대한 연구가 도외시 되고 없다. 또한, 기존의 서버 운용은 장애 발생시 페일 오버나 리던던시를 통해 대용을 하고 있지만, 이러한 기법은 연속적인 장애 발생에 대한 대응이 불가하다. 본 논문에서는 빅 데이터를 저장하기 위한 DSV(Desktop Storage Virtualization) 환경에서 서버 장애를 효율적으로 대응하는 M2S2(Metadata Management for Server Sustainability)를 제안한다. M2S2는 독립적으로 분산된 데스크당의 성능, 거리, 저장된 데이터양을 기준으로 최적의 대체 서버가 수행된다. 또한, 대체 서버의 장애 발생시 하위 데스크탑 중에 최적의 대체 서버가 수행 반복됨으로써 지속적인 서버 운용이 가능하다.

An Implementation of XML Database System for Semantic-Based E-Catalog Image Retrieval (의미기반 전자 카탈로그 이미지 검색을 위한 XML 데이타베이스 시스템 구현)

  • Recently, the web sites, such as e-business sites and shopping mall sites, deal with lots of catalog image information and contents. As a result, it is required to support semantic-based image retrieval efficiently on such image data. This paper presents a semantic-based image retrieval system, which adopts XML and Fuzzy technology. To support semantic-based retrieval on product catalog images containing multiple objects, we use a multi-level metadata structure which represents the product information and semantics of image data. To enable semantic-based retrieval on such image data, we design a XML database for storing the proposed metadata and study how to apply fuzzy data. This paper proposes a system, generate the fuzzy data automatically to use the image metadata, that can support semantic-based image retrieval by utilizing the generating fuzzy data. Therefore, it will contribute in improving the retrieval correctness and the user's satisfaction on semantic-based e-catalog image retrieval.

  • An increasing in quantity of multimedia data brought a new problem that expected data should be retrieved fast and exactly. The adequate representation is a key element for the efficient retrieval For this reason, the MPEG-7 standard was established for description of multimedia contents in 2001. Recently, the new metadata were developed to represent characteristics of movie information resources by Korea Federation of Film Archives. In this paper. we designed and implemented a movie information retrieval system. This system used XML schema to accept movie information metada. This system offers a keyword retrieval using high-level metadata based on movie information and similarity retrieval using low-level metadata based on MPEG-7. As a result, that ill be Possible more efficient movie information interchange . movie information metadata reuse and fast retrieve.

  • Standards for various multimedia and application fields have been developed, and the standardization for the multimedia and applications have been making as ISO/IEC 13249 packages by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 32/WG 4. This paper describes SQL/MM part 8, which is currently being standardized for providing consistent access support to metadata registries. Systems for ISO/IEC 11179 - metadata registries, the international standard, have been realized and utilized in various fields. However, there is no standardized query processing to share and exchange information between the systems, and thus it causes many problems. Therefore, SQL/MM part 8 described in this paper resolves these problems as well as makes users easily understand it.

  • The Ontology is the concept of human beings in any sense to classify things as departure from the classification based on the meaning at the prensent situation and concepts as the object of the Ontology. also, the technology is shared the conceptualization in a formal ontology as a meaning to give a clear description to the conceptual engineering in the ontology. Specialized multimedia broadcasting of TV-Anytime standard and multimedia representation of the overall standard of the MPEG-7 based on the concept of broadcasting multimedia presentations that can be used to develop an ontology who is required. In this paper, in TV-Anytime and MPEG-7 multimedia standard for broadcasting multimedia contents based on standards developed for the ontology, an ontology language for expressing OWL (Web Ontology Language) and RDF (Resource Description Framework) and the broadcast contents using To represent metadata of the system who has been developed.

  • 본 논문에서는 SCORM 기반 시퀀싱 모델을 기반으로 학습객체의 구조에 대한 정보, 학습자에게 학습 객체를 어떻게 전달할 지를 결정하는 규칙 등을 포함하고 있는 컨텐츠 구조를 제시하고 학습 컨텐츠의 재사용과 공유가 가능하고 동일한 학습 컨텐츠에 서로 다른 교수법을 적용하여 교육의 효과를 달리할 수 있도록 시퀀싱을 위한 컨텐츠 패키지 메타데이터 생성기를 개발한다. 또한 학습자 정보 트래킹을 위한 SCO(Sharable Content Object)함수를 부착하여 학습 객체가 SCORM RTE(Run-Time Environment)와 통신 할 수 있도록 PIF(Package Interchange File)로 자동 패키징 시킨다.
