  • We propose a multi-stage recognizer architecture that reduces the computation load and makes fast recognizer. To improve performance of baseline multi-stage recognizer, we introduced new feature. We used confidence vector for each phone segment instead of best phoneme sequence. The multi-stage recognizer with new feature has better performance on n-best and has more robustness.

  • In this paper, the contents of the development of RESS(Radar Environmental Signals Simulator) for the test of active phased array multi-function radar are described. The developed RESS can simulate multiple target environments, such as target/jamming/missile response/cluster signals, by using received radar operational information and simulated scenario. It can also modulate frequency, phase, gain, timing on all waveforms operated by multi-function radar and simulated two targets and one jamming in the beam. The RESS can be used to perform functional and performance verification of the active phased array multi-function radar with sub-array receiving structures.

  • Electrical properties of multi-channel metal-induced unilaterally precrystallized polycrystalline silicon thin-film transistor (MIUP poly-Si TFT) devices and circuits were investigated. Although their structure was integrated into small area, reducing annealing process time for fuller crystallization than that of conventional crystal filtered MIUP poly-Si TFTs, the multi-channel MIUP poly-Si TFTs showed the effect of crystal filtering. The multi-channel MIUP poly-Si TFTs showed a higher carrier mobility of more than 1.5 times that of the conventional MIUP poly-Si TFTs. Moreover, PMOS inverters consisting of the multi-channel MIUP poly-Si TFTs showed high dynamic performance compared with inverters consisting of the conventional MIUP poly-Si TFTs.

  • The problem of the conflict between eye convergence and accommodation can be induced at Stereoscopic or multi-view 3D display system using binocular disparity. A multi-focus 3D display system was developed, which can solve the problem. LEDs are used instead of galvano scanner and laser to avoid mechanical moving part at the 3D display system.

  • Although sustainable development of a city should in theory be based on updated spatial information like land cover/use changes, in practice there are no effective tools to get such information. However the development of satellite and sensor technologies has increased the supply of high resolution satellite data, allowing cost-effective, multi-temporal monitoring. Especially KOMPSAT-1(KOrea Multi-Purpose SATellite) acquired a large number of images of the whole Korean peninsula and covering some large cities a number of times. In this study land-use patterns and trends of Daejeon from the year 2000 to the year 2003 will be considered using land use maps which are generated by manual interpretation of multi-temporal KOMPSAT EOC imagery and to show the possibility of using high resolution satellite remote sensing data for urban analysis.

  • This paper describes a wearable multi-modal user interface design and its implementation for a teleoperated field robot system. Recently some teleoperated field robots are employed for hazard environment applications (e.g. rescue, explosive ordnance disposal, security). To complete these missions in outdoor environment, the robot system must have appropriate functions, accuracy and reliability. However, the more functions it has, the more difficulties occur in operation of the functions. To cope up with this problem, an effective user interface should be developed. Furthermore, the user interface is needed to be wearable for portability and prompt action. This research starts at the question: how to teleoperate the complicated slave robot easily. The main challenge is to make a simple and intuitive user interface with a wearable shape and size. This research provides multi-modalities such as visual, auditory and haptic sense. It enables an operator to control every functions of a field robot more intuitively. As a result, an EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) demonstration is conducted to verify the validity of the proposed wearable multi-modal user interface.

  • In this paper, a method for multi-physics analysis of the temperature-dependent properties of an oil-immersed transformer is discussed. To couple thermal fields with electromagnetic and fluid fields, an algorithm employing a user defined function (UDF) is proposed. Using electromagnetic analysis, electric power loss dependent on temperature rise is calculated; these are used as input data for multi-physics analysis in order to predict the temperature rise. A heat transfer coefficient is applied only at the outermost boundary between transformer and the atmosphere in order to reduce the analysis region. To verify the validity of the proposed method, the predicted temperature rises in high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) windings and radiators were compared with the experimental values.

  • Thin film diode with reliable interfacial structure was fabricated by using multi-step anodic oxidation. The thickness of the oxide layer was preciously controlled with anodic voltage. Also, interfacial structure between oxide layer and top electrode was improved by applying post heat-treatment. The thin film diode showed symmetric and stable I-V characteristics after the post heat-treatment.
