전산유체역학을 활용한 가전 제품용 원심팬 블레이드의 단계별 형상 최적화 (MULTI STAGE SHAPE OPTIMIZATION OF CENTRIFUGAL FAN FOR HOME APPLIANCE USING CFD)

  • We conducted a multi-stage optimization to secure the desired performance of a centrifugal fan for home appliance in an early stage of product development. In optimization, the static pressure at the outlet of the fan is chosen as an objective function that is to be maximized, providing the required flow rate at the operating point of the fan. The optimization procedure begins with parameters for an initial baseline fan design. The baseline design is optimized by using a commercial optimization package. Accordingly, the corresponding blade models with a set of geometrical parameters are generated. Flow through a fan is simulated by solving the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. A multi-stage optimization scheme is employed to determine the family of optimum values for the parameters, leading to the pressure increase at the outlet of the fan. To validate the numerically obtained optimal design parameters, we fabricated the three types of fans using rapid prototyping and assessed the performance using a fan tester. Experimental results show that the design parameters at each stage satisfy the goal of optimization. The multi-stage optimization process turned out to be a useful tool in the development of a centrifugal fan.

MOCVD 성장조건이 InN/GaN 다층박막의 발광세기에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of MOCVD Growth Parameters on the Photolumenescence Intensity of InN/GaN Multi-layers)

  • InN/GaN multi-layers were grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition(MOCVD) in order to get the appropriate structure for an high power blue-green light emitting diode(LED), and effects of growth conditions (growth temperature, pressure, and $trimethylindium(TMIn)-NH_3-N_2\; flow\; rare)$ on the integrated photoluminescence (PL) intensity and PL peak energy in InN/GaN multi-layers were investigated. The optimized growth conditions with the highest integrated PL intensity for InN/GaN multi-layers were obtained: the growth temperature at $780^{\circ}C$, the growth pressure at 325 Torr, the TMIn flow rate with 150 $m\ell$/min, the $NH_3$flow rate with 3.2 ι/min, and $N_2$ flow rate with 2 ι/min.

  • 지구/행성 내부의 다양한 지질학적 과정을 이해하기 위해서는 고온-고압 환경에서 지구 내부 구성물질의 특성을 이해하는 것이 필수적이다. 이러한 고압환경을 생성하기 위하여 사용되는 멀티 앤빌 프레스(multi-anvil press)는 주로 상부맨틀조건의 극한 상황을 재현하는데 사용된다. 멀티 엔빌프레스의 지질학적 사용을 위한 필수 보정 과정 중 하나는 압력을 생성하기 위한 프레스의 유압과 실제로 시료에 가해지는 압력 사이의 관계인 압력-부하 보정(pressure-load calibration)이다. 압력-부하 보정은 일반적으로 고온-고압 조건에서는 결정질 물질의 상전이를 이용해서 이루어지는데, 고온에서의 경우와 달리 저온(상온)의 경우 상전이 과정이 상대적으로 비효율적이므로 압력-부하 보정의 다른 방법론이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 파이로프 조성(Mg3Al2Si3O12)의 비정질(비정질 파이로프)의 상온에서의 압축(cold compression)에 따라 발생하는 영구적인 고밀도화 현상(permanent densification)과 그 기원이 되는 알루미늄 배위 환경의 변화를 고해상도의 27Al MAS 및 3QMAS NMR 분광분석을 통해 정량화하고, 이로부터 압력에 따른 알루미늄의 배위수 변화를 이용해 14/8 HT 조립세트(assembly set)와 1,100톤 멀티 앤빌 프레스에 대한 상온에서의 압력-부하 보정을 수행하였다. 본 연구는 NMR분광분석을 이용하여 압력보정을 수행한 최초의 연구결과이며, 비정질 파이로프의 압축-감압에 따른 원자 단위에서의 비가역적 구조 변화는 섭입대 환경과 같은 저온 고압 환경에서 비정질 물질이 겪는 변화와 그에 따른 지질학적 현상의 이해고양에 실마리를 제공한다.

연료의 불균질성을 갖는 DME HCCI엔진에서 과급의 효과에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis for Booster Effect in DME HCCI Engine with Fuel Stratification)

  • The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of the effects of fuel stratification on reducing the pressure-rise rate at high load in HCCI combustion. It was found that fuel stratification offers good potential to achieve a staged combustion event and reduced pressure-rise rates. The engine is fueled with Di-Methyl Ether (DME) which has unique 2-stage heat release. Numerical analysis is conducted with single and multi-zones model and detailed chemical reaction scheme is done by chemkin and senkin. Calculation result shows that proper fuel stratification prolongs combustion duration and reduce pressure rise rate. Besides IMEP, combustion efficiency and indicated thermal efficiency keep constant. However, too wide fuel stratification increases pressure rise rate and CO and NOx emissions in exhaust gas.

풍동실험을 통한 능동위상배열레이더에서 다층레이돔에 작용하는 공기력과 풍압의 실험적 연구 (Wind Tunnel Test of Aerodynamic Forces and Wind Pressures Acting on Muilti-layer Radom in Active Phased Array Radar)

  • In this paper, we investigated the sensitivity of aerostatic force coefficients of multi-layer radom in the various wind speeds. The test was conducted in KOCED Wind Tunnel Center in Chonbuk National University, and wind speeds were in the range from 5 m/s to 26 m/s in order to determine the Reynolds number independence. The test results of present multi-layer radom were not affected by the Reynolds number, The maximum positive pressure coefficient was found to be 1.08 at the center of the front of the plane in angle of attack of 0 degree, the maximum negative pressure coefficient was -2.03 at the upper right corner in angle of attack of 120 degree, while maximum drag coefficient was 1.11 in angle of attack of 180 degree.

다중벽 탄소 나노튜브를 이용한 유동 압력 검출 (Pressure sensing of air flow using multi-walled carbon nanotubes)

  • We describe the fabrication and characterization of a doubly clamped multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT). The device was assembled by an application of electric field in solution. The MWNT was clamped on end of metal trench electrodes in solution and deposited with additional platinum (Pt) on edge of electrode for firmly suspending the MWNT by focused ion beam (FIB). The MWNTs range of diameter and length were 100 to 150 nm and 1.5 to $2{\mu}m$, respectively. Electrical characteristics of fabricated devices were measured by I-V curve and impedance analysis. The mechanical deformation was observed by resistivity in high air pressure. Resonant frequency around 6.8 MHz was detected and resistivity was linearly varied according to the magnitude of air pressure. This device could have potential applications in nanoelectronics and various sensors.

Multi-wall 탄소나노튜브의 수소 저장 특성 (Hydrogen adsorption properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes)

  • Carbon nanotubes were prepared by catalytic decomposition of $CH_4$ using Ni-MgO catalyst at various temperatures. $H_2$ effect on crystallinity and morphology during the synthesis of carbon nanotubes was investigated. The crystallinity and morphology were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, TGA, and Raman spectroscopy. In addition, the hydrogen adsorption properties were evaluated by PCT measurement in a hydrogen pressure range between 1 and 120 bar. The optimal synthesis temperature of carbon nanotubes was elevated in the presence of $H_2$, although significant difference of carbon nanotube morphology was not found. It is believed that hydrogen served as self-cleaner mops the amorphous carbon on the catalyst surface. It is proved that the carbon nanotubes have multi-walled structure, short length with a outer diameter of 20 ~40nm and open tips after elimination of the catalyst. The amount of hydrogen adsorbed in carbon nanotubes is increased as the pressure of hydrogen is increased and reaches 1.3 wt % under the hydrogen pressure of 120 bar at room temperature.

노즐 형상 변경이 소형 CRDI 엔진의 성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 수치 해석적 연구 (Numerical Study on the Effect of Nozzle Geometry on the Small CRDI Engine Performance)

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of multi-hole nozzle on the performance of small CRDI engine. Combustion and exhaust emission characteristics of engine were studied by using CFD simulation with ECFM-3Z combustion model. The conditions of simulation were varied with nozzle geometry, injection timing and injection quantity. In addition, the results were compared in terms of combustion pressure, rate of heat release, $NO_x$ and soot emissions. It was found that combustion pressure was increased when injection timing was advanced. The rate of heat release of 6 hole nozzle was higher than that of 12 hole nozzle since the quantity of fuel impinged at the bottom of piston rim was different under different injection timing conditions. In the case of $NO_x$ emission, 6 hole nozzle generated more $NO_x$ emission than 12 hole nozzle. On the other hand, in the case of soot emission, 12 hole nozzle showed higher value than 6 hole nozzle because injected fuel droplets from multi-hole nozzle were coalesced.

  • This paper proposes a multi absorbing wave energy converter design, in which a hydrostatic transmission is used to transfer wave energy to electric energy. The most important feature of this system is its combination of the pressure coupling principle with the use of a hydraulic accumulator to eliminate the effects of wave power fluctuation; this maintains a constant speed of the hydraulic motor. Tilt motion of a floating buoy was employed as the power take-off mechanism. Furthermore, a PID controller was designed to carry out the speed control of the hydraulic motor. The design offers some advantages such as extending the life of the hydraulic components, increasing the amount of energy harvested, and stabilizing the output speed.

  • 본 연구에서는 순환골재의 고품질화를 위한 일환으로 다단형 풍압처리에 의해 선별된 순환굵은골재를 적용한 콘크리트의 역학적 특성을 평가하였다. 먼저, 천연골재 및 순환굵은골재의 기초물성을 고찰하였으며, 순환굵은골재 적용 콘크리트의 역학적 성능을 실험적으로 고찰하였다. 실험결과에 의하면, 다단형 풍압처리 기법은 순환골재의 밀도, 흡수율 등 기초물성을 개선시켰으며, 콘크리트의 역학적 성능도 매우 향상시키는 효과를 나타냄으로써, 순환골재의 고품질화에 유효하게 작용하는 것으로 나타났다.
