  • Though multi-panel structures lined with a poroelastic material have been widely used to reduce sound transmission in various fields, most of the previous works to design them were conducted by repeated analyses or experiments based on initially given configurations or sequences. Therefore, it was difficult to obtain the optimal sequence of multi-panel structures lined with a poroelastic material yielding superior sound isolation capability. In this work, we propose a new design method to sequence a multi-panel structure lined with a poroelastic material having maximized sound transmission loss. Being formulated as a one-dimensional topology optimization problem for a given target frequency, the optimal sequencing of panel-poroelastic layers is systematically carried out in an iterative manner. In this method, a panel layer is expressed as a limiting case of a poroelastic layer to facilitate the optimization process. This means that main material properties of a poroelastic material are treated as Interpolated functions of design variables. The designed sequences of panel-poroelastic layers were shown to be significantly affected by the target frequencies; more panel layers were used at higher target frequencies. The sound transmission loss of the system was calculated by the transfer matrix derived from Biot's theory.

  • Since the beginning of history, men have done mimesis and produced illusion and succeeded art and culture instinctually. The subject which mention above included the object which can order and space around that. Perspective which began the Renaissance age was dominant way about understanding space in western history and it made modern visual system. Direction way of space which based perspective is changed as horizontal data included multi-layer structure in digital media age. This character make us possible to represent the space more efficiently. So we must have pay attention the direction way of space based on digital media, because it has meaning to show human value beyond a methodology of visual art culture.

  • In this paper, a ceramic antenna and diplexer are designed for dual-band handset ap plications. Basically, the antenna is designed by using the meander line configuration. The diplexer presented in this paper is composed of both low- and high-pass filters. We have designed the low- and high-pass filters with attenuation poles to improve the attenuation performances of the diplexer. The attenuation poles are located at each rejection frequency region so as to improve the shrinkage characteristic of the diplexer. In order to accomplish the volume effectiveness, the antenna and the diplexer have been designed and fabricated in a multi-layer structure. The diplexer designed with a multi-layer structure has inductors and capacitors, which are implemented by LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramics) process technique. Design of the multi-layer antenna and diplexer has been achieved by employing the full 3-D EM simulation. The designed antenna and diplexer offer excellent return loss and broadband performances with highly isolated rejection performance.

  • This study was carried out in order to investigate the effect of binder properties in pre-coating layer on the characteristics of top-coating layer and print mottle of coated paper. Four different latices were used as a binder in pre-coating layer, and coating color prepared with a same formulation was applied for top-coating. The properties and print mottle of coated paper were evaluated. It was found that glass transition temperature (Tg) was the important factor to control the properties of pre- and top-coating layer. PPS roughness of coated paper was decreased and paper gloss was increased with applying binder which has lower Tg. Properties of top-coating layer were affected by the binder used in pre-coating layer. Print mottle of coated paper was improved with using binder which has lower Tg in pre-coating layer. These results indicate that final printability and properties of top-coating layer can be improved with using suitable binder in pre-coating layer.

  • Reducing optical reflection in the visible light range, in order to increase the share of transmitted light and avoid the formation of ghost images in imaging, is important for polymer lens applications. In this study, polymer lenses with refractive indices of n=1.56, 1.60, and 1.67 were fabricated by the injection-molding method with a polymer lens monomer, dibutyltin dichloride as the catalyst and an alkyl phosphoric ester as the release agent. To investigate their anti-reflection (AR) effects, various AR coating structures, viz. a multi-layer AR coating structure, tri-layer AR coating structure with a discrete approximation Gaussian gradient-index profile, and tri-layer AR coating structure with a quarter-wavelength approximation, were designed and coated on the polymer lens by an E-beam evaporation system. The optical properties of the polymer lenses were characterized by UV-visible spectrometry. The material properties of the thin films, refractive index and surface roughness, were analyzed by ellipsometry and AFM, respectively. The most effective AR coating structure of the polymer lens with low refractive index, n=1.56, was the both side coating of multi-layer AR coating structure. However, both side coating of the tri-layered discrete approximation Gaussian gradient-index profile AR coating structure gave comparable results to the both side coating of the multi-layer AR coating structure for the polymer lens with a high refractive index of n=1.67.

  • Inorganic metal multi-layer(IMML) consisting of Al/Al:SiO/Al was developed as a cathode for OLED to reduce the reflectance generated from ambient light. Device structure of green OLED was ITO/2-TNATA/$\alpha$-NPD/$Alq_3$:C545T/Balq/$Alq_3$/LiF/IMML and IMML was composed of three different layers: thin aluminum layer, aluminum layer doped with silicon monoxide and thick aluminum layer. Average reflectance of green OLED was 9.63% while that of conventional OLED with or without polarizer showed the average reflectance of 8.54% and 66% respectively at visible range from 380 nm to 780 nm.

  • This study was carried out in order to investigate the effect of pigment properties in a pre-coating layer on the characteristics of a top-coating layer and the print mottle of the coated paper. Five different pigments were applied for this study as raw materials for the pre-coating layer. The properties and print mottle of the coated paper samples were evaluated according to the coating color formulation. Type of pigments appliied in a pre-coating layer was one of the most important factor to control the properties of pre and top coating layer. Surface properties of pre and top coated paper were improved by blending GCC which had smaller particle size, with clay. Properties of a top-coating layer was affected by the pigment properties used in the pre-coating layer. It was found that print mottle of coated paper can be improved by replacing part of GCC with smaller particle size GCC or clay in pre-coating layer.

  • After CNN basic structure was introduced by LeCun in 1989, there has not been a major structure change except for more deep network until recently. The deep network enhances the expression power due to improve the abstraction ability of the network, and can learn complex problems by increasing non linearity. However, the learning of a deep network means that it has vanishing gradient or longer learning time. In this study, we proposes a CNN structure with MLP layer. The proposed CNNs are superior to the general CNN in their classification performance. It is confirmed that classification accuracy is high due to include MLP layer which improves non linearity by experiment. In order to increase the performance without making a deep network, it is confirmed that the performance is improved by increasing the non linearity of the network.

  • The submarines reach their weakest point when they sail on the surface to operate snorkel and periscope. At this period, however, there lies a high possibility that the submarines are detected by non-acoustic sensors such as radars, IR signatures, and human observations. In this paper, the non-acoustic stealth was adopted on the mast and periscope of submarines so as to overcome their vulnerability of being easily detected in this given situation. First of all, the non-acoustic detection sensors were investigated and the stealth methods were analyzed. And multi-layered structures consisting of RAM layer, IR layer, and Camouflage layer were proposed on the surface of the submarine. As a results, multi-layered structure was suggested with 3~5 mm of a magnetic material such as ferrite for RAM layer, 1~2 mm of ceramic or nickel for IR layer, and sea-blue paint for Camouflage layer.

  • Multi-disciplinary optimization design concept can provide a solution to many engineering problems. In the field of structural analysis, much development of size or topology optimization has been achieved in the application of research. This paper demonstrates an optimum design of a multi-layer cylindrical tube which behaves thermoelastically. A multi-layer cylindrical tube that has several different material properties at each layer is optimized within allowable stress and temperature range when mechanical and thermal loads are applied simultaneously. To analyze these problems using an efficient and precise method, the optimization theories are adopted to perform thermoelastic finite element analysis.
