  • Rapid time variations of the mobile communication channel have a dramatic effect on the performance of multi-carrier modulation. This paper analyzed the bit error rate (BER) performance for multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) network, and derived the equivalent signal-to-total noise plus interference(SNIR) of MC-CDMA system in the reverse link, the performance of MC-CDMA/BPSK signal is evaluated taking into account the fraction of partial-band interference and interference power. and the effect of partial-band interference is comprehensively studied in order to further improve the Qos of multi-carrier multimedia system.

  • The PB/MC-CDMA(Partial Block Multi Carrier Code Division Multilple Access) system can improve the performance by reducing the ICI(Inter-Code Interference) between users. Also, this system can achieve the frequency diversity gain by avoiding ISI(Inter Symbol Interference). Therefore, the performance of PB/MC-CDMA system is better than that of conventional MC-CDMA(Multi Carrier Code Division Multiple Access) system. However, similarly to other multi-carrier systems, it still has a PAPR(Peak to Average Power Ratio) issue. In this paper, we propose a peak power reduction technique involving optimized spreading code selection without side information for the PB/MC-CDMA. The PB/MC-CDMA system in each block of units reuses the code so the extra code will be remained. This extra code is divided into several groups to calculate the PAPR and solving the PAPR problem by transferring the selected code which has minimum peak power.

  • In this thesis, Multi-code/Multi-carrier CDMA(MC/MC CDMA) system which is combination of Multi-code CDMA and Multi-carrier CDMA is analyzed. This system is suitable fur multi-rate services that use multi-codes and high data rate transmission that employ multi-carriers. In addition, the MC/MC CDMA system is robust against frequency selective fading, is good for narrowband interference rejection, and has higher spectral efficiency. In this paper, The users are assigned OVSF codes as a spreading code according to their data rates and divides the active users having different representative code split into a number of groups for effective cancellation. At the receiver, The code grouping interference canceller performs cancellation between the groups. The proposed receiver does not require any information about interference users, such as code, data and amplitude, and has relatively low complexity. The results show the large improvement in performance that can be attained by cancellation scheme.

  • In this paper, we consider subcarrier-index modulation (SIM) for precoded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with a few activated subcarriers per user and its generalization to multi-carrier multiple access systems. The resulting multiple access is called sparse index multiple access (SIMA). SIMA can be considered as a combination of multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) and SIM. Thus, SIMA is able to exploit a path diversity gain by (random) spreading over multiple carriers as MC-CDMA. To detect multiple users' signals, a low-complexity detection method is proposed by exploiting the notion of compressive sensing (CS). The derived low-complexity detection method is based on the orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) algorithm, which is one of greedy algorithms used to estimate sparse signals in CS. From simulation results, we can observe that SIMA can perform better than MC-CDMA when the ratio of the number of users to the number of multi-carrier is low.

  • In this paper, we have proposed the Multi-Carrier (MC) CDMA system by adopting multi-interference cancellation techniques connecting an adaptive array antenna and a CCI canceller in cascade form. And, we have analyzed the BER performance of system in AWGN channel where MUI is a major interference degrading the performance of the proposed MC CDMA system. Also, we have evaluated the degree of performance improvement in the proposed MC CDMA system. As the result of analysis, a CCI canceller is better efficient than an adaptive array antenna in the performance improvement and that the performance improvement becomes large as the number of users increases when multi-interference cancellation techniques are used in cascade form. Also, we found that performance of $10^{-5}$ in a point of view BER could be achieved when $E_b/N_o$ is more than 10 dB.

  • The growing interest towards ultra-wideband (UWB) communications stems from its unique features such as baseband operation, ample multipath diversity, and the potential of enhanced user capacity. But since UWB has to overlay existing narrowband systems, multiple access has to be achieved in the presence of narrowband interference (NBI). However, existing baseband spreading codes for UWB multiple access are not flexible in handling NBI. In this paper, we introduce two novel spreading codes that not only enable baseband UWB multiple access, but also facilitate flexible NBI cancellation. We construct our codes using a single carrier or multiple carriers (SC or MC), which can be implemented with standard discrete-cosine transform (DCT) circuits. With our SC/MC codes, NBI can be avoided by simply nulling undesired digital carriers. Being digital, these SC/MC codes give rise to multiband UWB systems, without invoking analog carriers. In addition, our SC/MC codes enable full multipath diversity, and maximum coding gains. Equally attractive is their capability to reduce the number of interfering users, with simple matched filter operations. Comprehensive simulations are also carried out to corroborate our analysis.

  • This paper is analyzed the performance of coded MC-CDMA system using the multi-carrier with narrow band that is suggested to solve ISI and ICI of DS-CDMA system. In this paper, considered channel model is indoor mobile radio communication environment with Rician fading distribution and fading of multi-carrier have mutual independent characteristics. For the performance analysis of MC-CDMA system, first, bit error probability of uncoded system is simulated in the reverse and forward Rician channels. And then, it is simulated that bit error probability of coded MC-CDMA system for users, multicarriers and SNR, using (7,4) Hamming code, (15,7) BCH code and 1/2-convolutional code with 7 constraint length.

  • A Multicarrier system required a lower speed paralled-type of signal processing in contrast to a fast serial processing in a single carrier CDMA system. For the analysis we evaluate MC-CDMA system performance with that of a single-carrier CDMA system and a multi-carrier CDMA system based on the various jamming conditions. Also we studied to the capacity level against the threat environment through the performance comparison in commercial CDMA system and Limiting repeater system. as a result we found that M-CDMA system has a robustness to narrowband interference and multipath environments like as a Rayleigh fading.

  • The performance of a receiver that empolys a multi-stage inter-ference cancellation scheme for uplink fading channel is analyzed when there is carrier frequency offset. And the conditions to permit the performance improvement are analytically obtained. Numerical results show the effectiveness of the proposed system under Rayleigh fading channel assuming that carrier frequency offset is present.

  • In this paper, we apply a digital modulation scheme called Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) in which data symbols are transmitted at multiple subcarriers. Each subcarrier is encoded with a phase offset of -π or π based on a pseudo-random noise(PN) sequence. MC-CDMA scheme is introduced to combat against the multipath fading. We annalize above system and derive the average probability of error in AWGN and Rayleigh fading environment.
