  • The purpose of the research was to explore clothing characteristics that tween girls(ages 9-14) consider important when deciding what to wear, as well as what the tween girls' mothers believe that their daughters value. The purposive sample consisted of 41 mother-daughter pairs recruited by $[TC]^2$ (Textile/Clothing Technology Corporation). Subjects were divided into younger(9-11) and older(12-14) normal- and plus-size groups based on Body Mass Index(BMI). There were significant differences between mothers and daughters in rating the importance of seven decision criteria concerning what to wear. The entire tween girls reported that clothes that fit well as the most important criteria in deciding what to wear. Clothes that were comfortable was the only criterion significantly related to the tween girls' body dissatisfaction scores. Mothers rated clothes that are the newest fashion and that friends would be wearing as being significantly more important than their daughters reported. There was a significant negative correlation between tween girls' body dissatisfaction scores and choosing clothes that are comfortable. Normal-size tweeen girls and their mothers differed significantly only when considering the newest fashion and what friends would be wearing. Plus-size tween girls and their mothers differed significantly for four criteria: fit, comfort, best looking, and what friends would be wearing. Both younger and older groups differed with mothers concerning what friends would be wearihng. Additionally, younger girls placed significantly more emphasis than their mothers fit. Older girls did not consider the newest fashion an important a decision criterion, but their mothers believed that they did.

  • The current study attempted to explain how family members' communication competence and personality such as locus of control, impulsivity, and optimism influenced their family relationship satisfaction. In addition, we examined which variables among these would predict highly the family relationship satisfaction by conducting the regression analyses. We also included demographic variables such as gender of offsprings, age and education level, and conversation time among family members as the control variables that may have influenced the family relationship satisfaction. Results showed that the higher the communication competence, internalness, and optimism were, the higher the family relationship satisfaction was whereas the higher the impulsivity was the lower the relationship was. for offspring, her/his own communication competence and impulsivity, the conversation time with her/his father, and the impulsivity of the parents in order were the best predictors of the their family relationship satisfaction. For father, his own communication competence, wife's impulsivity and optimism, and the conversation time with his offsprings in order predicted his family relationship satisfaction. For mother, her own communication competence and education level were the strongest predictors of her family relationship satisfaction. The results clearly demonstrated that the family members' communication competence and conversation time among themselves as well as their personality are playing an important role in explaining the their family relationship satisfaction. lastly, the limitations of the current study, and suggestions and implications for future studies were discussed.

    • This study focuses on drawing implications in the development of practical adaptation strategies of migration women by marriage. For this study, eight migration women by marriage were chosen and their adaptation strategies as a wife, daughter-in-law, and as mother to adapt themselves to family lives were observed. For this, phenomenological method was adopted and their adaptation strategies were analyzed mainly in terms of their relationships within a family. Their adaptation strategies drawn in this study could be categorized into 11 themes, 26 theme bundles and 76 meanings. First, in relation to their husband, their adaptation strategies were 'to live relying on their good husband' and 'to think of their husband as their supporter.' Second, the adaptation strategies with regard to their parents-in-law were 'to exclude their husband's family' and 'to admit their caregiving.' Third, their adaptation strategies in terms of their relation to the children, were 'to set their children as the goal for marriage life,''to incorporate themselves with the local community,' 'to be equipped with authority as a parent' and 'to raise the children as a Korean.' In addition, their psychological adaptation strategies displayed their admittance of changes, maintaining their own identity, their sustenance of self-esteem and the resignation. Finally, based on these results, this study suggested ways to facilitate their adaptation to family life as well as the essence of their adaptation strategies.

    • Grouting materials are used for the unification of superstructural and substructural body like bridge seat (shoe) or machinery pedestal and e.t.c by filling their intercalary voids. Accordingly, grouting materials have been developed and used mainly with products of high strength because those materials are constructed specially in a part receiving large or impact load. In this situation, the structural body constructed by grouting materials with high stiffness-centered (caused by high strength) products is apt to cause brittle failure when receiving over a limit stress and to cause cracks according to cumulative fatigue by continuous and cyclic load. In addition, grouting materials are apt to cause cracks by using too much rapid hardening agents that give rise to high heat of hydration to maintain high strength at early age. In this study, to overcome these problems, cement type grouting materials including powder of waste tire and resin as elastic materials which aim to be more stable construction and to be improvement of mother-body's unification are developed and endowed with properties of high toughness and high durability add to existing properties of high flowability, non-shrinkage and high strength. Besides, this study contribute to of for green construction materials for being possible recycling industrial waste like waste tire and flyash. On the whole, seven type mixing conditions are tested and investigated to choose the best mixing condition.

    • This study tries to examine the level of safety consciousness and first aid knowledge of 124 college students who attend non-public health departments in Gwangju from April 1 to 30, 2003 and apply the results of the study to curriculum. The results of this study are as follows; 1. On experiences of need of first-aid, 87.5% of respondents said 'yes' and there was a significant difference in the number of their siblings($x^2$ = 7.482, p = .048). 2. Sources of education of first aid were mostly at school(46.8%), no education(23.4%), through mass communication(22.6%) and by themselves(7.3%). There were significant differences by characteristics in sex($x^2$ = 30.230, p = .000), year($x^2$ = 10.821, p = .013) and mother's education($x^2$ = 18.932, p = .025). 3. Sources of information of first aid were mostly through TV(46.8%), followed by others (42.7%), newspapers(7.3%) and magazines(3.2%). 4. On the opinions of the most suitable period for educating first aid, elementary school was highest(41.9%), followed by kindergarten(29.0%), middle school(21.0%) and high school (8.1%) and there were significant difference by characteristics of subjects in sex($x^2$=9.689, p= .021) and year($x^2$=19.661, p= .000). 5. Score of knowledge level of safety consciousness was mean $71.58{\pm}12.05$ based on Likert 5-point scale with a full mark of 100 points and there was a significance only in current residence of subjects' general characteristics(F or t=3.894, p=.023). 6. Score of knowledge level of first aid was mean $62.73{\pm}13.29$ based on Likert 3-point scale with a full mark of 90 points and there was a significance only in residential type of subjects' general characteristics(F or t=3.058, p= .031). Although college students felt needs of first aid more than middle and high school students, it was found that their actual safety consciousness and knowledge level of first aid were low. Therefore, knowledge and ability should be developed to save human life from all kinds of emergencies and safety accident and first aid subjects should be separated in college curriculum and opportunity for actual education should be given.

    • Through the questionaire inquiry from April 1st to 10th, 1974 with 393 students in Woonho, Saekwang junior and senior highschool and Daisung, Ilshin girls' junior and senior highschool in Chungju, Choong Cheong Buk Do, I surveyed the general circumstances of students and their unbalanced diet on total 199 foods and causes of the unbalanced diet and regard the 21 boys and 29 girls who don't like to eat more than 30 foods from the given 47 protein-foods which are needed by students who are now in the stage of growth. This study is concerned with their circumstances and the causes of their ill habit of eating. 1) As to their distribution of age, 14 and 18 year old boys were six (28.5%), 11 and 13 year old girls were eleven (38.1%). In the survey on their height, 6 boys (28.5) were from 146 cm to 150 cm and 11 girls (38.1%) were from 146 cm to 150 cm. On the weight, 7 boys were from 36 kg to 40 kg(33.7%), 10 girls were from 36 kg to 40 kg (34.0%). We can see that ill habiters of eating were more weaker than other students from this data. 2) In the survey of educational level of their housewive it was found that number of graduates of the primary school is thirty (60.0%). So we can derive the fact that they don't make any variety in their daily table for their family. 3) As to their living standard, 19 boys (90.4%) and 27 girls (93.3%) belong to the middle class, low and high class were a little. This indicates the general living standard if Korea, because in common sence we regard the riches are the more ill habiters of eating. 4) 8 boys (36.8%) and 8 girls (26.8%) were the first children in their homes. This indicates the fact that housewive happen to make the first child as the ill habiter of eating because their lack of experience to give various food for their children. As to the survey on their infant nutriments, 41 students (80.2%) were fed by mother's milk. 5) Upon the causes of the unbalanced diet on a certain food, 34 boys (82.7%) and 45 girls (64.6%) were because of appearing to that food, 10 boys (40.8%) and 18 girls (61.5%) were because of the characteristic fragrance, 11 boys (52.4%) and 17 girls (58.1%) were because they have never eated that food till now, 34 boys (19.3%) and 5 girls (17.0%) were because of the bad appearance of the food. So housewive should study various ways of cooking daily meals at home and try to give their children who are in the stage of growth to be able to eat wider kinds of foods for the improvement of health.
