A theory for the material transports through ion exchange membrane has been developed on the basis of nonequilibrium thermodynamics by removing the assumption of solvent flow in the previous paper and applied to a detailed study of the ionic transport properties of new charged mosaic membrane(CMM) system. The CMM having two different fixed charges in the polymer membrane indicated unique selective transport behavior then ion-exchange membrane. The separation behavior of ion transport across the CMM with a parallel array of positive and negative functional charges were investigated. It was well-known the analysis of the volume flux and solute flux based on nonequilibrium thermodynamics. Our suggests preferential salt transport across the charged mosaic membranes. Transport properties of heavy metal ions, $Mg^{2+}$, $Mn^{2+}$and sucrose system across the charged mosaic membrane were estimated. As a result, we were known metal salts transport depended largely on the CMM. The reflection coefficient indicated the negative value that suggested preferential material transport and was independent of charged mosaic membrane thickness.
We isolated the Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus(CGMMV) particles from watermelon leaves and designated as CGMMV-HY1 as a watermelon isolate and attempted to characterize the pathogenic isolate responsible for such an epidemic in watermelon and also to monitor dominant viral isolates in greenhouse. The watermelon plants infected with CGMMV generally showed mottle mosaic, mosaic, growth stunting, necrosis and deformed fruit. The reactions of indicator plants to CGMMV-HY1 were the local lesions on Nicotiana tabacum cv. White Burley, Nicotiana tabacum cv. Samsun, and Chenopodium amaranticola, and the mosaic symptoms only on Cucumis sativus, but the CGMMV-HY1 did not infect Nicotiana sylvesytis, Datura stramonium, Chenopodium quinoa, and Petunia hybrida. Purified virus particles were rod-shaped and about 300 nm long. The coat protein (CP) of purified CGMMV-HY1 was single band with molecular weight of about 16.5 kDa which was confirmed by western blot analysis probed with monoclonal antibody of CGMMV-HY1. The genomic and subgenomic RNAs of 6.4 kb and 0.75 kb were revealed by the electrophoresis on 1.2% formaldehydedenatured agarose gel. Viral and complementary CGMMV-specific primer sets were designed for spanning the genome using previously reported CGMMV sequences. A 464bp of CP gene of CGMMV-HY1 was amplified by RT-PCR and cloned into PGEM-T easy vector. The nucleotide sequence of CP gene of CGMMV-HY1 shared 98%, 99%, and 100% identities with that of CGMMV strains W, KOM, and KW respectively. Based on these results, we identified CGMMV-HY1 as a CGMMV isolate of watermelon, a member of Tobamovirus.

In this paper, high-quality mosaic image is generated by high-resolution hyperspectral strip images using scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) algorithm, which is one of the representative image matching methods. The experiments are applied to AISA Eagle images geo-referenced by using GPS/INS information acquired when it was taken on flight. The matching points between three strips of hyperspectral images are extracted using SIFT method, and the transformation models between images are constructed from the points. Mosaic image is, then, generated using the transformation models constructed from corresponding images. Optimal band appropriate for the matching point extraction is determined by selecting representative bands of hyperspectral data and analyzing the matched results based on each band. Mosaic image generated by proposed method is visually compared with the mosaic image generated from initial geo-referenced AISA hyperspectral images. From the comparison, we could estimate geometrical accuracy of generated mosaic image and analyze the efficiency of our methodology.

Soil-borne barley yellow mosaic disease caused by Barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV) or Barley mild mosaic virus (BaMMV) gives a serious threat to the winter barley cultivated in the southern regions in Korea. It is important to develop resistant varieties for stable and high-yield production. The objectives of this study were to evaluate 22 genotypes of exotic barley germplasms carrying the resistance genes rym1 through rym12, with the exception of rym10, and to determine the genes that confer resistance to BaYMV or BaMMV in Korea. Using the traditional visual scoring of symptoms at 4 locations over 3 years, average disease rate values differed (P < 0.001) among the genotypes. ELISA test revealed the presence of both BaYMV and BaMMV in all of the field sites but Jinju and significantly different rates of infection among genotypes and years. Barley genotypes differed in how virus quantities and pathogen-induced symptoms were correlated, especially in response to BaYMV. Disease incidence was affected by the climatic conditions present during the early growing stage before overwintering. A Chinese landrace, 'Mokusekko 3', carrying rym1 and rym5 was comparatively resistant at all locations studied. The barley genotypes carrying either rym6 or rym9 were susceptible to the viral strains. The genotypes carrying rym5 were resistant in Jinju and Milyang but susceptible in Iksan and Naju. The resistance genes rym2 and rym3 were effective in local strains and would be potent contributors to disease resistance.
The data structure of the concentric mosaic can be regarded as a video sequence with a slowly panning camera. We take a concentric mosaic with match or alignment of video sequences. Also the concentric mosaic required for huge memory. Thus, compressing is essential in order to use the concentric mosaic. Therefore we need the algorithm that compressed data structure was maintained and the scene was decoded. In this paper, we used 3D lifting transform to compress concentric mosaic. Lifting transform has a merit of wavelet transform and reduces computation quantities and memory. Because each frame has high correlation, the complexity which a scene is detected form 3D transformed bitstream is increased. Thus, in order to have higher performance and decrease the complexity of detecting of a scene we executed 3D lifting and then transformed data set was sequently compressed with each frame unit. Each frame has a flexible bit rate. Also, we proposed the algorithm that compressed data structure was maintained and the scene was decoded by using property of lifting structure.
Cucurbits including pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo), gourd (Lagenariaa siceraria), cucumber (Cucumis sativus), melon(Cucumis melo) and watermelon(Cucurbita anguria) were diseased with mosaic symptoms. The causal virus was identified as watermelon mosaic virus(WMV). The WMV was transmitted by Myzus persicae Sulzer, and no seed borne virus was found. The virus caused large local lesions on the inoculated leaves of the Chenopodium amaranticolor and mosaic symptom on the upper leaves of Cucumis melo, Cucumis sativus, Lagenaria siceraria, Cucurbita anguria and Cucurbita pepo. There were no symptoms on the inoculated leaves of the Nicotiana tabacum var. Bright yellow, Nicotiana glutinosa, Vigna unguiculata. Petunia hybrida and Datura stramonium. Thermal inactivation point was $55\~65^{\circ}C$, dilution end point was $10^{-4}\;10^{-5}$ and longevity in vitro of the virus was $7\~8$ days. The virus showed positive reaction against watermelon mosaic virus antiserum in microprecipitin tests. The virus particles were flexuous rods in size of 750 nm.
A Cucumber mosaic virus (named CMV-Tr1) isolated from the white clover (Trifolium repens) showing mosaic and malformation that found in a pepper field. Cucumber mosaic virus was identified through confirmation with PT-PCR, PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism, and sequence analysis of coat protein (CP) gene. CMV-Tr1 mosaic symptom on the upper leaves of five tobacco species including Nicotiana benthamiana, Cucumis sativus, Physalis angulata, and Solanum lycopersicon. In Chenopodium quinoa and Vigna unguiculata the isolate showed local lesions in inoculated leaves. CMV-Tr1 compared with CMV-As in the sequence identity of CP gene. CMV-Tr1 showed 98.9% and 99.5% homologies at nucleotide and amino acid levels, respectively. Phylogenetic analysis of the CP gene indicated that CMV-Tr1 belongs to the CMV subgroup IB base on the CP. To our knowledge, this is the first report of CMV in T. repens in Korea.

Chinese artichoke (Stachys sieboldii Miq.) belongs to herbaceous perennial plants of Labiatea and is cultivated as edible and medicinal crops in China, Japan and Korea. A Chinese artichoke plant showing virus-like symptoms was collected in Chungju, Korea. Plant sap of the sample was inoculated in Nicotiana tabacum cv. Xanthi-nc, Chenopodium quinoa and Chenopodium amaranticolor. Necrotic local lesions were observed in the inoculated leaves of N. tabacum cv. Xanthi-nc and C. amaranticolor, C. quinoa with systemic chlorotic spots and mosaic symptoms on the upper leaves. The disease reactions on indicator plants suggested that the collected Chinese artichoke sample was mixed-infected with different viruses. We detected three viruses by RT-PCR analysis using genus- and species-specific primer sets for Alfalfa mosaic virus (AMV), Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV). This study is the first report of a mixed infection of three viruses in Chinese artichoke in Korea.

This paper proposes a composition method of mosaic image from the compressed MPEG-2 video stream, in which the displacement between successive frames according to the camera operation is estimated directly from the information involved in the stream. In the proposed method. the approximated optical flow is constructed from motion vectors of macro blocks, and it is used to determine the parameters of the displacements according to the camera operation associated with pan and tilt. The extracted parameters are used to determine the geometric transform of successive video frames in order to construct a mosaic image. The construction of mosaic uses several blending techniques including the one proposed by Nichols in which an analytic weight is used to determine pixel values. Through the experiment, the blending technique based on analytic weights was superior to the others such as averaging and median-based techniques. It provided more smooth changes in background and made use of instantaneous frame information to construct a mosaic. The mosaic in the paper puts the emphasis on the reduction of computation because it is constructed from the motion vectors included in the compressed video without decoding and recalculating exact optical flows. The constructed mosaic can be used in the retrieval of the compressed video as the representative frame of a shot.

A viral disease causing severe mosaic, necrotic, and yellow symptoms on Vigna angularis var. nipponensis was prevalent around Suwon area in Korea. The causal virus was characterized as Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) on the basis of biological and nucleotide sequence properties of RNAs 1, 2 and 3 and named as CMV-wVa. CMV-wVa isolate caused mosaic symptoms on indicator plants, Nicotiana tabacum cv. Xanthi-nc, Petunia hybrida, and Cucumis sativus. Strikingly, CMV-wVa induced severe mosaic and malformation on Cucurbita pepo, and Solanum lycopersicum. Moreover, it caused necrotic or mosaic symptoms on V. angularis and V. radiate of Fabaceae. Symptoms of necrotic local or pin point were observed on inoculated leaves of V. unguiculata, Vicia fava, Pisum sativum and Phaseolus vulgaris. However, CMV-wVa isolate failed to infect in Glycine max cvs. 'Sorok', 'Sodam' and 'Somyeong'. To assess genetic variation between CMV-wVa and the other known CMV isolates, phylogenetic analysis using 16 complete nucleotide sequences of CMV RNA1, RNA2, and RNA3 including CMV-wVa was performed. CMV-wVa was more closely related to CMV isolates belonging to CMV subgroup I showing about 85.1-100% nucleotide sequences identity to those of subgroup I isolates. This is the first report of CMV as the causal virus infecting wild Vigna angularis var. nipponensis in Korea.
